EPIGARD SOLVENTLESS
EPOXY COATING
DATA SHEET NO. 2006-025

A two pack solvent free high performance high build epoxy coating specially designed for application
as an internal coating of both steel and concrete tanks for storage of both sweet and sour crude
oils,unleaded petrol, MTBE, ATF,selected range of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents and
water. This product is suitable for safe storage of potable water also. It gives a very tough wear
resistant, impervious coating to withstand many chemicals, fats and oils.

Surface Preparation
Steel Surfaces:
Degrease and blast clean to Sa 2 grade minimum
of Swedish specification SIS - 05 -5900 - 1967.
Concrete Surfaces
For new concrete surface: Ensure that the surface is
cured for minimum 2 months. Remove laitence,
loose surface powder by light sand blasting. If blast
cleaning is not feasible, roughen the surface by acid
etching with 10% Hydrochloric Acid solution
followed by thorough freshwater hosing to remove
any residual acid. The surface should be perfectly
dry and clean before applying Epigard solventless
epoxy.
For old concrete surface:
For old concrete surface: Remove grease, oil etc by
solvent wiping. Remove water-soluble contaminants
by fresh water hosing. Roughen the surface by acid
etching, if light sand blasting is not feasible. The
surface should be perfectly dry and clean before
applying Epigard solventless epoxy.

In case the stipulated over coating period is over, for


application of subsequent coat of paint the surface
should be sweep blasted for better intercoat adhesion.

Limitations
The finish tends to chalk when exposed to sunlight although
protective properties of the film remain practically unaffected.

Do not apply when temperature falls below 10o C or rises above 50o C and when relative humidity rises
above 90%. Do not apply during rain, fog or mist.
