Title : Senior Manager - Cloud & Datacenter Operations

Job Description:
This role concentrates on the design, architecture, implementation and operations of a customer
facing 24x7x365 datacenter infrastructure, datacenter administration, servers, storage,
middleware, non-application software, networks, and operations that support the applications and
business processes as required. Included in the focus areas is the critical evaluation and
selection of the software and hardware components of the infrastructure, cloud providers,
address security requirements, datacenter monitoring, deployment & provisioning tools etc. Sr
Manager Datacenter Operations is a technical hands-on opportunity to work in a private and
public cloud for an enterprise company addressing critical marketplace innovation & pushing the
envelope of a high volume infrastructure to scale horizontally to address security, reliability,
performance, availability and scalability of the infrastructure.
Would be a best fit for someone who is currently managing 24x7x365 customer facing
SaaS/Cloud production infrastructure of systems, network and storage in a global follow-the-sun
Datacenters collocated across Europe, Asia Pacific and North America locations. Prefer
candidates who have working in Ad technology companies like Yahoo, Google etc. Ideal
candidate would have experience in managing datacenter, datacenter migrations, management,
operations, build outs, monitoring and alerts management, availability management, capacity
management and service management. Understand what it takes an infrastructure to address
performance and latency.
Responsibilities:

100% hands-on datacenter management, compute, storage and network infrastructure


Bootstrap datacenters and hands on technical working with the engineering team.

Manage & Build out the datacenters globally with a team of 5-7 resources Hire, retain &
motivate.

Manage application release management, Infrastructure provisioning and deployment.

Hands-on experience in managing 24x7 global datacenter operations.

Implement Operational tools like deployment, provisioning, monitoring, performance


measurement tools etc.

Responsible for performance, availability and scalability of the infrastructure.

An understanding of cloud solution approaches from a technical (infrastructure), service


management, financial and sourcing perspective.

Define and lead next generation high availability datacenter architectures, operational
tools, automation, infrastructure provisioning and 24x7 operations.

Cloud environment administration (Amazon Web Services AWS Preferred) and in hosted
datacenter collocations,

Responsible for the customer facing production environment monitoring, performance,


release/deployment, security, reliability, availability, capacity, latency, and other non-functional
concerns.
Requirements:

B.S (Preferred M.S) in Computer Science.

10+ years of hands on Linux System administration [CentOS/Redhat] of a large


infrastructure server farm in a datacenter environment managing systems, network, and storage
systems.

7+ years of experience in managing global datacenters with various providers like


Equinix, SAVVIS, Telx etc.

7+ yrs of experience as a Manager of SaaS/Cloud datacenter Operations.

7+ years of managing global datacenters.

At least 5+ years experience in Unix/Linux System Infrastructure Administration in a


SaaS or Cloud Operations, Network architecture and administration, storage implementations on
DAS, NAS, and SAN.

Proven track record with a minimum of 5+ years in Lead Linux system, network and
storage administrator,

7+ years of strong hands on background in data centers, networking, virtualization and


service management.

2+ years of hands-on AWS administration experience is desirable.


Strong foundation in Virtualization software like VMware, KVM and Xen & Service
Management
Deep understanding of scaling out and horizontal scaling infrastructure architectures.

Exposure to big data infrastructure like Hadoop, MongoDB architecture and scaling those
infrastructures.

Experience in infrastructure capacity planning based on key attributes Flexible,


continuous learner, excellent communicator, works well in team environment, appreciates
challenge, comfortable and effective working in new areas that require experimentation and rapid
problem solving.
The candidate should have an understanding of the Online Advertising Industry, a passion for
technology and the drive and ownership to work in a start-up environment. The candidate should
possess strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork, ownership, initiative and

integrity. High energy and must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be flexible to
react to changing priorities and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a deadline-oriented
environment is also critical.

About the Role:
The IT Cloud Services Solution Architect plays a vital role in architecting, implementation and operation of hosting
environments leveraging virtualization, automation and orchestration technologies.
Key Responsibilities:

Defines a cloud service offering based on the requirements provided by the Cloud Service Owner after its
determined that a particular cloud service offering is to be included in the Cloud Service Portfolio.

This involves translating cloud business requirements into technical requirements that can be used to architect
a cloud service offering.

Leads the team in the design of the infrastructure for data center processes and technologies to meet
operations objectives for cloud.
Leads collaboration between core infrastructure and application teams related to cloud adoption.
Leads the team in creating and maintaining documentation on the cloud services environment.
Leads the colloboration between IT Service Management, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Operations
and IT Cloud Services to lead the service design and implementation of the Service Life Cycle.
Provides tier 3 cloud service offering support as needed
Additional responsibilities include;

Qualifications
Required Experience/Skills & Education:

Requires knowledge of all aspects of data center hosting like Server, Storage, Network & Virtualization.

This position requires knowledge of all aspects of data center hosting like Server, Storage, Network &

Virtualization.
Experience supporting production infrastructure (network, infrastructure and storage), including at least 5+
years of experience designing and architecting scalable and redundant enterprise hosted systems.
Experiencing designing and implementing large scale VMWare based cloud services including VCenter.
3+ years of designing complex and large scale cloud Architecture.
Excellent communicator and collaborator across multiple technical and business stakeholders and leaders.

Understanding of application, severs, and network security technologies.

Hands on Cloud Architecture experience, Virtualization Technologies, Server Automation,
Operation Orchestration

In depth knowledge on Virtualization technologies, specifically VMWare
o
In depth knowledge and hands on experience with DNS, LDAP, TCP/IP, SNMP and other
networking protocols.
Identifies and evaluates future technologies for applicable solutions.
The ability to work closely with IT architects and senior engineers in the architectural design, analysis and
application integration work for new deployments is required.
Thorough understanding of ITIL and ability to translate Service Strategy to Service Design and assist the
technical team with Service Transition & operations
Aptitude for detail-oriented work and the ability to work in a virtual team environment required
Must be a confident, self-starter, self-motivated individual who really enjoys the challenges that come with
managing a large scale storage environment
Customer Service attitude, ensuring the needs are met or exceeded
Preferred: A Masters degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
