ALDERMAN FAMILY RESPONDS TO BAKERSFIELD POLICE

DEPARTMENT CLEARING ITSELF AGAIN IN OFFICER SHOOTING
DEATH OF UNARMED MAN
Alderman Family Attorney Mark Geragos of Geragos & Geragos, APC has issued the
following response:
BPD lost all credibility clearing itself in its own officer involved shooting deaths of
unarmed individuals a long time ago after it was caught lying to the public, destroying
evidence, and literally playing with the dead bodies of its unarmed victims for their
disgusting pleasure.
The community was promised that with the District Attorneys involvement, the
investigation of the BPD shooting death of the unarmed 29 year old Jason Alderman
would be different. It wasn't. It was worse.
The DA, which has consistently covered for BPD, with its own track record of evidence
tampering, was and still is nowhere to be found on the Alderman matter.
After killing Alderman, BPD lied about the existence of surveillance video, then refused
to turn over the video to the Alderman family or the public when they were compelled to
acknowledge the existence of the video.
BPD still has not turned over the video and police dispatch of the incident.
The officers who killed Jason Alderman, who were previously involved in numerous
other officer involved shootings of unarmed men, now get to patrol the streets, yet again.
BPD sees nothing unusual that it continues to clear the same officers over and over again
in shooting deaths of unarmed men.
The Alderman family is grateful for the prayers and support from the community. While
it was evident that the BPD investigation of itself had zero credibility from the outset, the
Alderman family hopes the complete and utter lack of respect and professionalism shown
by BPD during this process will lead to legitimate independent investigations and federal
intervention.
