1. Why
To recognize and reward associates for referring suitable candidates to Cognizant.

2. Who
A. Audience
Associates up to the level of Associate Directors in Cognizant, India are eligible to refer potential
candidates.
Note: Associates who are part of the People Functions of Cognizant are not eligible for Referral
Bonus.
People

Functions of Cognizant include:


Human Resources (HR)
Academy
Global Work Force Management (GWFM)
Global Immigration
People Function Shared Services (PFSS)

B. Definitions

Referrer: The Cognizant associate referring the potential candidate.


Referral: The candidate being referred.
Referral Bonus: The payment made to the referrer by way of reward.

3. What
A. Referral Bonus: Terms and Conditions

The referral bonus will be paid only after the referral completes three months of service at
Cognizant.
The referral bonus will be paid along with the salary, only if both the referrer and referral are
on rolls of Cognizant.
All referrals joining Cognizant will undergo the mandatory background verification process.
If the verification report is negative, no referral bonus is payable, and any amount processed
in such a case, will be recovered.

Note: Any Income-Tax applicable as per IT laws will be deducted at source.


The referral bonus payable for the various levels will be as follows:

4. How
a. Go to https://1c.cognizant.com/GlobalReferral
b. Click on the India region in the world map.
c. Click Refer your Friend or Skip for now & go ahead and Refer, to access the India Referral
policy.
d. Select the I have read and understood the referral policy and hereby agree to abide by it
checkbox.
e. Once the Careers page is displayed select the job criteria and click Search. The available jobs that
meet your search criteria are displayed.
f. Click the required job. The job responsibilities page is displayed.
g. On the right pane, click Refer a candidate. The referral page is displayed.
h. Complete the required fields and click Submit.
Note: Once the account is created, both referrer and the referral receive an email trigger with the
login credentials.
i. To check the status of the referral, navigate to Check Status.
Conditions for Referral
An uploaded resume is valid only for a period of six months, after which, the resume becomes
Cognizant proprietary and will not be liable for any referral bonus.
Note: The validity period of six months is defined as the time period from the date of upload to
the date of offer.
Any resume received through any other medium will not be considered a referral, unless
explicitly made known. Any such exceptions will be communicated in writing by the Talent
Acquisition Group (TAG).
Any resume processed without the involvement of the TAG will not be eligible for a referral
bonus despite the resume being uploaded on the careers site.
For example, any resume that is directly sent to the hiring manager for processing will not be
considered for a referral bonus.
The decision of TAG is binding and final in cases where there are multiple sources of the same
resume.

5. Responsibilities

Referrer: Creates the account and updates the basic information.


Referral: Uploads the resume and other information.

6. Exceptions

The benefits of this policy are governed by the terms and conditions of employment in practice at

Cognizant. This is subject to change from time to time. Cognizant reserves the right to amend its
policies as necessitated. All statutory requirements are applicable as mandated by law.
All exceptions to this will be directed to the Policy Council of Cognizant, India.

7. FAQ
a. Is there a limit to the number of resumes I can refer?
No. You can refer as many resumes you want.
b. When will the referrer be paid the referral bonus?
The referral bonus will be paid to the referrer only on completion of three months of service at
Cognizant.
c. Whom should I contact if I require more information about the referral bonus policy?

d. If I am at onsite and refer an associate, will I be considered eligible for the referral bonus?
There are different referral bonuses for different regions. You will be paid as per the region in
which your payroll status is active at the time of referral.
a. Case A: If you are in India and refer an associate for the India location or an onsite
location, then you will be eligible for a referral bonus. You will be paid according to your
payroll status at the time of payment release (that is India referral policy).
b. Case B: If you are onsite and refer an associate for the India location or an onsite
location, you will be paid according to that regions referral policy.
e. A candidate I have referred has been absorbed and has been with the organization for
three months. However, I have resigned. Will I still get the referral bonus?
Referrers are entitled to the referral bonus after the referral completes three months in
Cognizant, provided both are on rolls of Cognizant, India.
