Kabeldon cable cabinet for 1236 kV, HDC-A

A robust and safe solution

Application area
Kabeldon HDC-A offers unique capabilities for jointing and
branching cable grids. Due to connections being made
above ground, improved flexibility is gained when working in
the grids.
As necessary, selected cables can be sectionalized for
e.g. maintenance. Disconnected cables can be earthed with
special earthing devices and tools. The rest of the cable grid
can then be energized, thus limiting the number of subscribers affected by a temporary interruption to service.
HDC-A is excellent for use in applications such as consumer
grids and wind power farms.

Design
The cable cabinet consists of:
An enclosure constructed of hot-dip galvanized sheet
steel with additional corrosion protection on the
foundation under ground.
Screened separable cable connectors that are connected
together with coupling pieces mounted in the cabinet.
Standards
Enclosures: impact testing according to international
standard IEC 60439-5.
Screened separable cable connectors: electrical
requirements according to European standard
CENELEC HD 629.1 S2.

In wind parks, the cable cabinets can be used as branching

points so that separate cables do not need to be run from
each wind turbine to the substations. This means lower
costs for among other things excavation and cabling.
HDC-A is connected in the cable grid so that power can
be disconnected before beginning work in a cabinet.
