1. The 10 hectares land will be weeded out first and will be cleared
from any debris and other unwanted crops to improve soil moisture
and aeration.
2. Seedbeds are approximately prepared in an area where there is
sunlight in the morning and shade in the afternoon. Also, where the
water source is near. It is 1x10 in size that can accommodate 185-250
seed nuts.
3. The Catigan Dwarf coconut seedlings will be planted in a distance of
9x9 in a 50 cm diameter and 50 cm depth hole
4. Basal fertilizer (i.e. chicken dung mixed with soil) will be placed in
the hole first as fertilizer then covered with soil before the seedling will
be placed.
5. The seedling will be planted during the onset of the rainy season to
avoid drying up of newly planted seedlings.

weeded regularly (everyday) using Dripper water system. As well as
inspected regularly for disease and pest incidence (monthly).

Harvesti
ng

1. In 4 years, the Catigan dwarf coconut tree will now bear coconut
for the first time. Coconut will be harvested by contract farmers
together with the tenant farmer.

Quality
Check

1. The coconuts are then subjected to quality check to ensure quality

seedling. This process is also known as SEEDNUT SELECTION. We will
reject light, cracked and waterless seednuts which are too small or
too big.

Germinati
on

1. The coconuts that passed the quality check will be soaked in

water overnight and will be stored in the storage area to be dried
and will be planted in the seedbed during their 9 th month.
2. The quality seedling will be germinated in the seedbed for a
maximum of 16 weeks. Since the germination rate of coconut
seedlings is 60-65% we expected to have 40-35% of coconut
seedlings that will not germinate.

1. Seedlings that already germinated will be planted in the seedbed in

a distance of 60 cm.
2. Again, Basal fertilizer (i.e. chicken dung mixed with soil) will be
placed in the hole first as fertilizer then covered with soil before the
seedling will be placed.

Polybag
Nursery

3. A polybag with the lower part perforated to allow drainage and halffilled with soil will be prepared to allow Transplanting process.
4. If the seedling already have three to four leaves Transplanting will
be done. The seedling will be sown from the seedbed and will be
placed in the prepared polybag.
5. After carefully placing the seedling the polybag's remaining space
will be filled with soil.
