Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good

Teaching and learning is good. Staff provide a varied day of activities and opportunities
for the children ensuring they have opportunities to develop their skills across all areas
of learning.

Staff understand children's individual needs very well, and nurture and build positive

relationships with them. Consequently, children are happy, secure and confident at the
nursery.

Excellent use is made of the high-quality and spacious facilities available both indoors
and outdoors. Staff use these well to promote children's good health and learning
opportunities.

All aspects of safeguarding are promoted very effectively. Staff take great care to
ensure children learn safe behaviours and the premises are secure. Staff have a good
knowledge of child protection and the action to take if concerned about a child.

Partnerships with parents and other professionals are strong. Parents feel very welcome
and know their children make good progress in the nursery.

The leadership and management team is very motivated and enthusiastic at building a
strong staff team, and constantly drives for improvement in all aspects of the provision.
Regular training opportunities help to enhance the quality of the provision offered.
It is not yet outstanding because:

Staff do not consistently make the best use of learning opportunities in routine
activities. For example, in preschool they do not have enough staff sitting at the lunch
table to extend children's learning potential at this time.

Inspection findings
How well the early years provision meets the needs of the range of children
who attend. This is good
Children's communication and language skills, their physical development and their
personal, social and emotional development are encouraged particularly well in this happy
nursery. Children are becoming confident learners who are well prepared for their move to
school. Children enjoy this fun environment, where good use is made of indoors and the
extensive garden. The enthusiastic staff provide a broad variety of interesting activities
which encourages all areas of learning. They are attentive and adapt to children's interests
very well. Staff use facial expressions, gestures and different tones in their voices to
encourage communication. Consequently, children are becoming confident
communicators. All the children explore the attractive resources, make choices about their
play and are carefully encouraged to develop their skills. The older children thoroughly
enjoy the sessions outside; they confidently recall the rules that help to keep them safe
and they explore the natural environment. Staff effectively monitor children's progress, in
partnership with their parents. The system for tracking children's progress works well and
is being improved to enable greater information sharing between staff and parents.
The contribution of the early years provision to the well-being of children is
outstanding
Excellent care is taken to ensure the individual well-being of each child is promoted very
effectively. There is a happy, confident atmosphere throughout this nursery. Staff get to
know their key children well, and are excellent role models. They are calm, patient and
well-mannered to the children, their colleagues and visitors. Staff recognise the
importance of helping children to adjust to changes in their lives. Excellent care is taken to
promote all aspects of health and hygiene. Children enjoy healthy and nutritious meals
cooked freshly each day. Staff encourage their awareness of the importance of healthy
eating, good hygiene routines and exercise in their activities and conversations. Children
eat very well and preschool children enjoy restful activity for a while after lunch, while
younger children have a rest as needed.
The effectiveness of the leadership and management of the early years
provision is good
The nursery develops helpful partnerships with parents and professionals that ensure the
needs of children are met effectively. The management team is proactive at developing
the skills of the staff. Every month, staff learn about a subject relevant to their work. This
increases their knowledge base and, consequently, the quality of the provision. A staff
member has completed forest school training. This has enabled staff to embrace their
outdoor area by introducing more activities, using natural resources with the children.
Effective recruitment and induction processes help to ensure staff are suitable and
supported in their roles.
