In his book "Gem Elixirs and Vibrational Healing, Vol. I" Gurudas mentions an abalone "gem"
elixir. Abalone is not really a crystal or a gemstone. It's actually a marine snail whose shell is
sometimes used in remedies, too. This seashell is found in temperate and tropical oceans near
China, Japan, Peru, and South Africa.
Gurudas recommends an abalone elixir in the treatment of cancer, and of the vertebrae, to
balance the personality and to promote maturity.

Blue Lace Agate is a light blue, banded microcrystalline trigonal quartz. Like all members of the
quartz family, it consists of Silicon Dioxide (Silica). Most Blue Lace Agates come from southern
Brazil and northern Uruguay.
J.A. Dow: Blue Lace Agate works directly on the nervous system to alleviate physical tension.
Because it has a calming effect, it can be used to treat anger and stress. When a client is drawn
to Blue Lace Agate, it indicates there is a tension, and the other stones will give more

Albite is a form of feldspar that crystallizes in masses, tabular crystals, and plate-like crystals.
Albite usually is white or colourless, but blue, red and brown specimens occur, too. It is found in
the US, Canada, England, France, Italy, Japan and Kenya. So-called "Moonstones" often are a
form of opalescent albite.

Amazonite is a green to blue variety of microline. It consists of potassium (=Kalium) aluminium

silicate. It is found in Brazil, Canada, the US, India and Russia.

Amber is not really a stone, but fossilized resin. This is why it is mainly found in orange to dark
brown hues. Occassionally, however, violet and green varieties occur, too. Amber is mainly
found in the Baltic Sea and in the Dominican Republic.
J.A. Dow: Amber is the only stone of organic origin that has the ability to shift energy. Its
specific job is to ground and calm scattered ethereal energies, found in the light system,
especially near the physical body.

Amethyst is a variety of quartz that has a purple to violet colour, which is caused by the
presence of iron and/or manganese. It is commonly found in the US, Brazil, Canada, Mexico,
Uruguay, Russia, East Africa, and Sri Lanka.

Angelite crystallizes in the form of blue and white masses, nodules and crystals. It occasionally
contains a splash of red hematite. It was discovered in Peru, South America, during the time of

Aquamarine is a well known type of beryl that is blue, blue-green or green in colour. It is found
in the US, Brazil, Mexico, India, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Russia.
J.A. Dow: Aquamarine is often chosen by people with memories of early angelic life. "I used to
call aquamarine the 'earth angel stones' because everyone who selected them related to the
awakening trauma of angels coming to this planet, stunned at their birth that imprinted on their

Azurite is a blue mineral that is closely related to Malachite. Both often appear together (See:

They are basic carbonates of copper and are formed by the alteration of copper sulphide
minerals.
Azurite is mined in Russia, the US, France, Greece and Italy.

Beryl
Beryl is a generic name for minerals consisting of aluminium beryllium silicate. Usually, six
types of beryl are distinguished. Emerald (green) and Aquamarine (green, blue-green or blue)
are the best known types of beryl. Pure beryl, also known as Goshenite, is colourless and
transparent. Bixbite, Heliodore and Morganite are the three other types. (All are mentioned in

Labradorite is an opaque grey stone that shimmers with a metallic play of colours, especially
greens and blues, when held at certain angles. (Newcastle Guide). It is a sodium (=natrium)
calcium aluminium silicate member of the Feldspar family. It is found in Canada, Finland,
Mexico, Russia and the US.
Spectrolite is another name for Labradorite, though sometimes 'spectrolite' is used only for the
variety that is found in Finland.
So-called "Moonstones" can be a form of iridescent Labradorite.

Larimar is the trade name that is usually given to gem quality blue pectolite. Pectolite comes in

Tempest Stone
Tempest Stone, or Pietersite as it is usually called, was only recently discovered in Windhoek,
Namibia by Sid Pieters. It crystallizes in the form of masses, the structure a result of inclusions
of Jasper. It is usually blue/black in colour. (Melody).
J.A. Dow: The central theme for tempest stone is 'Chaos in transition period.' Tempest stone
has come to represent the movement and chaos that break up those energy patterns
particularly resistant to change. When the heart and mind are not on the same frequency, it
creates a kind of furor, chaos, in the light body which is reflected by the personality. It is,
essentially, energy in conflict. Tempest stone gathers all the emotional reactions to a pattern of

to iron oxides. It is found in South Africa, Australia, Burma, India and the US.

Topaz
Topaz is a mineral that consists of aluminium fluosilicate. It can be colourless or a pale silver,
golden yellow, green, blue or red. It is mined in the US, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Australia and Sri
Lanka.
Please note that Topaz, too, like citrine and smoky quartz, often is irradiated to enhance the
colour. This often is the case with blue and golden topaz.
The names that are given to the Topaz stones that one finds in the shops, can be quite
misleading. The name "Yellow Topaz" is sometimes given to Golden Topaz, but more often to a
yellow variety of the mineral corundum, in which case it is not really a topaz, and it would be
more related to ruby and to sapphire than to topaz. To add to the confusion, both this false
yellow and the real golden topaz are sometimes referred to as "Imperial Topaz," or as "Oriental
Topaz."
And as if that wasn't already confusing enough, one should be aware that sometimes irradiated
citrines and amethysts are sold as 'Golden Topaz' as well.

Tourmaline is a mineral that consists of silica (=silicon dioxide), alumina (=aluminium oxide)
and approximately one quarter of other materials. It appears in several colours, most of which
are listed in the database. The red variety is called Rubellite. Tourmaline is mined in Australia,
Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and Russia.
J.A. Dow: Tourmalines are the true givers of the mineral kngdom. They work by emitting or
beaming energy outward rather than drawing it into themselves. They also tend to catalyze
events, or make things happen.
