The Great Advent Awakening

This section deals with the history of the Adventist movement. In the early 1800s, independent of one
another, men and women throughout the world began to restudy the prophecies of Daniel. At that time,
the little horn power ( the apostate religious system) had reigned for 1260 years from 538 to 1798. At the
very end of this time period, Daniel became the topic of biblical scholarship and personal devotion. In the
early 1800s, Manuel de Lacunza, a Catholic priest in South America wrote under the pen name of Juan
Josafa Ben-Ezra. As this godly man began to study the prophecies pointing to the time of the end, he
came to believe that Jesus was coming very, very soon. Edward Irving of England came to the
conclusion that the prophecies of Daniel pointed to the time of the end. Johann Bengel, in Germany,
almost simultaneously came to the same conclusion and became a preacher of the Second Coming.

Dr. Joseph Wolf. Around this same time, Dr. Joseph Wolf, a Jew converted to Christianity, believed
that Christ was coming in the early 1800s. As Joseph had learned about Jesus, he knew that this was no
ordinary man. He read the fifty third chapter of Isaiah which told of Christ's coming as a "lamb to the
slaughter." When he asked his father about it, he was told to never read it again. That was not good
enough for Joseph. He later became a Christian. He then became a
"missionary to the world" and traveled throughout Asia proclaiming the

ministers preached the Second Coming in England. In Sweden,

Denmark, and Norway, the public preaching of the word was outlawed
just after 1800. What did God do? He inspired child preachers by the
hundreds to proclaim the soon coming of Jesus.
So at the end of the 1260 years of Daniel 12:7, a renewed interest in the Second Coming of Christ swept
Europe and was felt in the farthest missionary outposts in Asia and Africa.

William Miller. A man in the United States by the name of William Miller had studied the prophecies of
Daniel from 1816 to 1831. He began proclaiming that Jesus was coming soon. Miller was born in 1782 in
Pittsfield, Massachusetts and grew up in Hampton, N.Y. His parents were Baptists but, through his
reading in the local library, he gradually drifted towards Deism. (Deists are skeptics. They believe that
God wound up the world like a big clock, then walked off to watch it tick. They pictured God like a
landlord who owns a house, but wanting nothing to do with it anymore, lets the house run down.)

witnessed what he perceived to be supernatural intervention by a Higher
Power on behalf of the beleaguered and greatly outnumbered U.S.
forces. That challenged his Deistic notions that God was a distant Being
who cared not for humans and did not involve Himself in their affairs. He
also saw a number of his friends killed. Following the war, he settled
down as a farmer and began to reevaluate his belief system. As he
pondered the Deist's belief of no hope after death, he became terribly
disheartened. Listen to his own words recorded in Great Controversy,
pages 318, 319.

believed that there was going to
be a thousand years of peace
before Jesus returned. This
concept of the millennium lulled
the masses to put off salvation
and the things of God. But, as
Miller studied the Bible --especially the books of Daniel and
Revelation, he found that Christ's
coming was very soon. He also
discovered that when Jesus
comes, the whole world would be
divided into two classes: those
who believe and are saved and
those who do not are lost. The

ignorance and love of the world
drove him to his knees. Daniel

special object of William Miller's
study.

was it? And death- why was it? The more I reasoned, the further I was from demonstration. The more I thought, the more scattered
were my conclusions. I tried to stop thinking, but my thoughts would not be controlled. I was truly wretched, but did not understand
the cause. I murmured and complained, but knew not how or where to find the right. I mourned, but without hope...Suddenly...the
character of a Saviour was vividly impressed upon my mind.

William Miller was converted to Jesus Christ. He then set out to challenge his skeptical friends. He was
driven to study the Bible with a scientific zeal. His study took him on a 15- year voyage into God's Word.
Miller thought it best to dispense with commentaries. Reading verse by verse with the Bible as its own
interpreter (like Lacunza, Bengel, Edward Irving, and Joseph Wolf), he discovered that the end was at
hand. The impact of his discovery would soon shake the religious world.
... Unto two thousand and three hundred days, then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

What Is The Sanctuary? Miller had accepted the popular assumption that the sanctuary was the
world. So, he deduced that the cleansing of the sanctuary must be the cleansing of the world by fire at
the Second Coming. As he traced the 2300 day/ year prophecy, he saw certain events that would take
place along the way. He discovered the prediction of the Christ's baptism in A.D. 27, his crucifixion in
A.D. 31, and the gospel to the Gentiles in A.D. 34. As he extended the 2300 years down through the
ages, he eventually concluded that 2300 day/year prophecy ended in 1844. He reasoned that since
Jesus was baptized in A.D. 27 and died in A.D. 31, exactly fulfilling the prophecy, then the sanctuary's
cleansing must also be fulfilled literally in 1844. So, accepting the popular view of the sanctuary, he
believed the earth would be cleansed by fire in 1844 with the Second Coming of Christ.
Others all over the world like Joseph Wolf, William Davis of South Carolina, and Alexander Campbell,
almost simultaneously reached the same conclusion on their own. As Miller came to his conclusion, the
thought pressed upon his mind again and again by the Holy Spirit, "Go tell it to the world." But he was
farmer and he thought, "I can't tell it. I'm not eloquent. I can't preach." But the weighty sense of
responsibility kept coming to his mind, "Go tell it to the world."

Sharing with Friends. At first Miller shared it with a few friends, but for the most part kept it to

himself. However, he had no peace as the Scriptural injunction kept coming to his mind, "If you do not
tell it, you are accountable. Their blood will be on your head. Watchman, give the message." Miller was
overwhelmed. One day as this conviction was heavy upon him, Miller went to a grove to pray. In prayer,
he made a sort of deal with God. "Oh, God," he prayed, "I am but a farmer. I have no desire to preach,
yet I sense Your convicting power. I am surrendered to Your will. If you open the opportunity, I am
willing." Relieved, he returned to the house thinking that, since no one would approach him, he was off
the proverbial hook. He was quite certain the matter was now settled.

The Millerite Movement: The Farmer Begins To Preach

A short time later, however, he heard a knock on the door. "Uncle Bill! Uncle Bill! Dad wants you to come
to Dresden to preach." Miller was shocked but true to his word, Miller went. In this first meeting, 13 entire
families accepted Jesus Christ. From 1831-1844, Miller preached to thousands of people in the United
States. The Advent movement grew like wild fire. Methodists, Baptists, Episcopalians, Catholics, and
Lutherans accepted the message. In the vilest

cities and the smallest villages the call went out,
"Jesus is coming! The sanctuary is to be
cleansed! Christ is coming in 1844!" Of course
the skeptics and scoffers said, "No man knows
the day or the hour." Miller answered, "I'm not
announcing the day or the hour. On the basis of
prophecy we are pointing out the year." So it was
that the second advent movement continued to
grow.

Great Meetings. As the Millerites were forced

out of the popular, world-loving churches of the
day, they decided to meet in tents. In the years

shortly before 1844, as many as 500,000 attended 125 Millerite meetings in tents. As they saw the
widespread opposition to the teaching of the Bible and the Second Coming of Jesus, the Millerites
began to preach for the first time the that the popular churches were Babylon (Revelation 18:4).

Date Setting. At first, based on the Jewish calendar, the Millerties believed that Jesus would come
between the spring of 1843 and 1844. That time came and went. Many cast aside their faith in the Bible
and prophecy. At an Exeter, N.H. camp meeting on August 12, 1844, many studied anew the prophecies
and the ancient sanctuary service. A man by the name of Samuel Snow discovered that the cleansing of
the sanctuary occurred on the tenth day of the seventh Jewish month. Using the ancient Jewish
calendar, he discovered that the Jewish religious year began in April. He also discovered that the tenth
day of the seventh month would occur on October 22, 1844. This new insight spread and 50,000 new
converts joined the ranks of the Millerites. Miller himself was reluctant to accept such a precise date; but
shortly before October 22, he too accepted it.
Although we know that Miller was wrong about the event, we do know he was right about the date.
Imagine that little group of Millerites on the evening of October 22. Their all-consuming passion was to
meet Jesus in peace. "Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming!" the message echoed and reechoed through
New England and the world. Hundreds and thousands believed that Jesus would return that day. The
message was so powerful that saloons were turned into meeting halls. People who had wronged their
neighbors made things right. On the microfilm record of the Providence, Rhode Island Journal an
amazing add appeared on the front page.
If I owe anybody any money as a result of my business dealings and if I've not been faithful in paying it, please let me know so I can
pay up my debts, because Jesus is coming October 22, 1844, and I want to ascend in the cloud and go with Him.

The Great Disappointment

So that night many gathered in the groves and

fields in prayer to await the return of their Lord.
The hours ticked by. At last midnight came, but
Jesus didn't come. What was sweet at first
suddenly became bitter. The sweet prophecy of
Daniel's little book was now the source of a great
disappointment. Many had sold their homes and
failed to bring in the harvest from the fields.
Every hope was centered in the soon return of
Jesus. That night, many spent the entire night in
bitter weeping and returned the next morning to
their villages to meet the jeers and laughter of
their neighbors.

The Heavenly Sanctuary Recognized

In the Corn field. The following morning, Edson and a few others went to a barn to pray. After prayer,
he was walking home through a corn field with O.R.L Crosier when he looked up and suddenly realized
that the sanctuary to be cleansed was not the earthly, but the heavenly sanctuary. He saw that on
October 22, 1844 Jesus left the Holy Place in the heavenly sanctuary and entered the Most Holy Place
to begin his second and last phase of ministry. Suddenly the prophecies came into sharp focus in his
mind. He wrote,
"It has been vividly impressed upon my mind that the sanctuary to be cleansed by fire is not the earth, but it is the heavenly
sanctuary."

How many sanctuaries?. They went home and studied their Bibles again. They now studied the
subject of the sanctuary. How many sanctuaries are there? Two - one on earth and the other in heaven.
They discovered that the earthly is a kind of model of the heavenly. And since the earthly sanctuary was
destroyed in 70 A.D. by Titus, the only sanctuary that could be cleansed in 1844 is in heaven. They
discovered that the cleansing of the sanctuary prefigured a special work of judgment in heaven to
determine the reward of the righteous and to remove the record of sins from the heavenly records. They
discovered that they were living in the time called by John the Revelator "the hour of God's judgment."

Disappointment. The Great Disappointment of 1844 was very much like the previous great
disappointment of A.D. 31. Jesus' followers thought He would set up His kingdom on earth. Instead, He
was killed. That night after the crucifixion, they were utterly disappointed. Then Jesus arose and their
false views were corrected. Arising from the ashes of disappointment after Christ's ascension, the New
Testament church pointed men and women to the heavenly sanctuary where Jesus Christ entered the
Holy Place to minister on their behalf. Likewise, after the persecution of the little horn, Jesus started a
end-time movement from the ashes of the disappointment of 1844. Correcting their misconceptions, they
discovered that Jesus had entered the Most Holy Place in the heavenly sanctuary. They also discovered
that, like the New Testament church, they must point men and women to the heavenly sanctuary where
Jesus Christ had begun another phase of ministry in the heavenly judgment.

A Bitter Sweet Experience Prophesied. As they read the tenth chapter of Revelation, they were
amazed to discover that this chapter perfectly marked their experience. Just as John had said, the
experience was "sweet" at first then "bitter." They were certainly disappointed when Jesus didn't come.
Now, they wondered, was the movement based on the prophecies of Daniel and pointing to the Second
Coming going to die? Was it to become fragmented? What would happen to those Lutherans,
Methodists, Baptists, Catholics, and Episcopalians who had expected Jesus' Second Coming in 1844.
A Disappointment Ordered By God?
I can now prove from the laws in the Old Testament that when a special people are called they must go
through a period of bitter disappointment, judgment, death and resurrection before they are restored
again. It parallels the disappointment of the disciples after the death of Jesus. The laws are based in the
pattern of the camp sites and movement of the 12 tribes around the sanctuary. Every major
patriarchexperienced this pattern of testing.
East Tribes (Preaching). The workers bear the burden of preaching with the gift of God.
South Tribes (Praying). They suffer godly affliction and some betrayal by friends.
West Tribes (Curses). They are denied their blessings and suffer bitter disappointment, reproach
and scorn from their people.
Joseph (Reproach Heaped). The people mock the Millerites.
Manasseh (Forgotten by Brothers). The people drive them out of the churches.
Benoi (Son of Sorrow). Bitter disappointment because Jesus did not come.

 North Tribes (Curses). They suffer the ridicule of their enemies.

Dan (Judged A Serpent). Hell is unleashed under the crushing humiliation.
Asher (Death). They suffer death or wish for death.
Naphtali (Raised With Good News). They are raised up and recognize that they must pass
through the waters of the Most Holy Place and prophesy again.
West Tribes (Blessings). We must "prophesy Again" because we are about to repeat the path to
the blessings that we were denied earlier. I believe that the Adventist church might still be in this
phase where they are waiting on the borders to cross over into the Promised Land.
Joseph (Reproach Removed). The reproach is removed from the church and from William
Miller.
Manasseh (Forget Mistreatment). The Jews join with us in preaching about Jesus.
Benjamin (Son of The Right Hand). We preach about the coming Son of the right hand.

To understand the appeal of the message at this time, you must appreciate the fulfillment of events that
converged in one generation over seventy years.

Birth Of The United States (1776). Revelation 12 predicts the rise of the United States as a
nation that helps the persecuted and becomes the final super power. It gained independence this
year and expands rapidly at the same time that France and the papacy were falling.

Knowledge Increases. Between 1770 and 1844 there were many spectacular inventions,
discoveries and public systems created in agriculture, transportation, indoor plumbing,
electromagnetics and communication. Between 1859 and 1895 many system wide inventions were
in place for energy, public education, communications, medicine and transportation. This fulfills
Daniel 12.
The telecommunications discoveries and inventions in printing and transportation allowed them to
"run to and fro" to spread the gospel as scientific knowledge increased. This infusion of these
types of technologies appears to have the same impact on that generation as the Internet has on
ours. Common people saw an affordable way to spread the gospel.

Celestial and Disaster Signs (1789, 1833). The Lisbon earthquake, dark day and falling stars
fulfilled the prophecy in the sixth seal (Revelation 6). Two years after he began to preach, the great
Leonid meteor shower jump-started the modern field of astronomy. People thought it was the
Second Coming. Afterwards it made people listen to William Miller.

Fall of the Papacy (1798). This was the biggest sign and it stirred many people to look at the
prophecies as they begun to understand the significance of the Middle Ages.

Fall of the Ottoman Empire (1840). Then Josiah Litch predicted the exact week of the fall of
the Ottoman empire using Revelation 9 two years before it occurred.

News Around the World. There was war between the two superpowers (Britain and France). The
French Revolution was also exporting conflict to the whole world. The New Madrid Earthquake
(1811-12) changed the landscape in the mid west. The year without a summer (1816) brought
famine and freezing throughout the world. There were also Indian wars and deportations in the
United States, plagues and unusual signs in the skies. All these signs pointed to Matthew 24.

News Events Near The Twenty First Century

To understand the appeal of the message at this time, you must appreciate the fulfillment of events that
are converging today. Discarding any optimistic texts about the nearness of His coming, since 1981,
there are no more powers or capabilities or events that cannot be accomplished in one generation.
Since 2001 there are no remaining events that cannot be completed in three years.

United States Supremacy (1991). The fall of the Soviet Union created one superpower.
Knowledge Increases. Computers, global telecommunications and the internet can spread the
gospel. Weapons technology, energy production and use and genetic engineering can destroy the
world.

Celestial and Disaster Signs (1980, 2004). Natural disasters increase in frequency and
intensity since 1980. The Indonesian earthquake and tsunami of 2004. Other signs in the sky have
not happened yet.

Rise of the Papacy (1929, 1981). The papacy began its modern rise with the Lateran Treaty in
1929 and John Paul II in 1981.

Rise of the Islamic Empire (2001). Militant Islamic activities have created a destabilizing force
around the world, causing the imposition of harsh persecution laws and organizations in
democratic nations. The disastrous USA response only escalated events. Their growing power and
networking are creating the forces needed to fulfill certain prophecies about Israel.

News Around the World. A global economic crash at the end of 2008 beginning in the United
States threatens to destabilize world governments like the global depression in the 1930's.
We are creating financial conditions for the final events at the end of time. The rich are investing in
gold and governments are taking more control over financial institutions and the United States has
become a debtor nation. Most alarming is the instillation of financial, legal and internal spy
organizations that condone torture and are closely connected to businesses, governments and
religious people in the free world.
Global Financial Collapse. During the seven last plagues a global financial collapse, beginning
in the United States, will cripple the world. We have had the dress rehearsal.
The Days of Noah and Sodom. Unbridled pleasure, divorce, immorality and homosexuality
have become the morals of the day, even having great political, media and financial influence.
Scientific Proof That God Is The Creator. A remarkable event happened in 2008, beginning on
December 21. It is surely the end of the first angel's message. God gave me proof that the
Mishkan, the portable sanctuary described in Exodus 26, is a model of modern science. It models
all four blocks, their sizes and properties of the elements in the Periodic Table of Chemistry. It is a
unified model of particle physics, showing the relationships and revealing the hidden mysteries of
gravity and mass. It is a far superior, simpler and better model than the current Standard Model of
quantum physics. Other parts of the bible show DNA replication. Salvation is also depicted as a
repair of the genes as we are replicated from the perfect copy on the cross.

Conversion of Israel (Future). Israel will accept Christ as the Messiah during a major crisis
involving war from the surrounding nations.

ELLEN G. WHITE

Many have stated that this woman founded the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Not so. At the time of the
disappointment she was just a sickly teenage girl with a limited third grade education. She lived from
1827 to 1915 and had her first vision in 1844 - two months after the disappointment of 1844. She said
that God gave her visions to enlighten her mind as to what Adventists should do - but the doctrinal
foundations of the church came from extensive prayer and Bible study of the pioneers.

The Visions
She reportedly experienced over 2000 visions and dreams in which she received understanding from
God. In her visions, she would go into a trance like state unaware of her surroundings until the vision
ended. On many occasions when they tested her she was not breathing. She also reportedly had super
human strength and would hold a heavy Bible in her outstretched hand for hours.

The Writings
There are many books with her name as the author. Many of these were not written by her in that form.
They are compilations, or collections of sayings on different topics, written in her primary works.
Because they are compilations, it is very possible that a quotation could have been taken out of context.
For example, one controversial statement was that it was a sin to have a bicycle. In context, she was
talking about the enormous debt to which people subjected

Also, there is a charge that she plagiarized the work of others (for example, medical information). So it
must be noted that in her days, the strict references and footnotes that we use today under our strict
copyright rules were not common in her day. And many Bible commentators in her day are guilty of the
same charge.
So if she quoted directly from these sources or if God gave her information to confirm what was being
said in some medical circles then it should be noted that almost everything she said medically was
controversial and it must have taken divine intelligence for her to plagiarize the correct information.

The Love of God. She wrote passionately about the love of God in Christ.
Keep your wants, your joys, your sorrows, your cares, and your fears before God. You cannot burden Him; you cannot weary Him.
He who numbers the hairs of your head is not indifferent to the wants of His children. The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy.
James 5:11. His heart of love is touched by our sorrows, and even by our utterances of them. Take to Him everything that perplexes
the mind. Nothing is too great for Him to bear, for He holds up worlds, He rules over all the affairs of the universe. Nothing that in any
way concerns our peace is too small for Him to notice. There is no chapter in our experience too dark for Him to read; there is no
perplexity too difficult for Him to unravel. No calamity can befall the least of His children, no anxiety harass the soul, no joy cheer, no
sincere prayer escape the lips, of which our heavenly Father is unobservant, or in which He takes no immediate interest. He heals
the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147: 3. The relations between God and each soul are as distinct and full as
though there were not another soul upon the earth to share His watchcare, not another soul for whom He gave His beloved Son.

The Importance of Personal Bible Study. You have a duty to read the Bible directly.
Go to God for yourselves, pray for divine enlightenment that you may know that you know what is truth, that when the wonderful
miracle working power shall be displayed, and the enemy shall come as an angel of light, you may distinguish between the genuine
work of God and the imitative work of the powers of darkness.

The Church In The Last Days

Simple Methods. "Let me tell you that the Lord will work in this last work in a manner very much out of the common order of
things, and in a way that will be contrary to any human planning. There will be those among us who will always want to control the
work of God, to dictate even what movements shall be made when the work goes forward under the direction of the angel who joins
the third angel in the message to be given to the world. God will use ways and means by which it will be seen that He is taking the
reins in His own hands. The workers will be surprised by the simple means that He will use to bring about and perfect His work of
righteousness."

Humble Servants. In every generation God has sent His servants to rebuke sin, both in the world and in the church. ... Many
reformers, in entering upon their work, determined to exercise great prudence in attacking the sins of the church and the nation. ...
But the Spirit of God came upon them as it came upon Elijah, moving them to rebuke the sins of a wicked king and an apostate
people; they could not refrain from preaching the plain utterances of the Bible - doctrines which they had been reluctant to present.
They were impelled to zealously declare the truth and the danger which threatened souls. The words which the Lord gave them they
uttered, fearless of consequences, and the people were compelled to hear the warning.
Thus the message of the third angel will be proclaimed. As the time comes for it to be given with greatest power, the Lord will work
through humble instruments, leading the minds of those who consecrate themselves to His service.
... the sins of Babylon will be laid open. ... all will be unmasked. By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon
thousands will listen who have never heard words like these.

Rough Exterior. The days are fast approaching when there will be great perplexity and confusion. Satan, clothed in angel robes,
will deceive, if possible, the very elect. There will be gods many and lords many. Every wind of doctrine will be blowing. Those who
have rendered supreme homage to "science falsely so called" will not be the leaders then. Those who have trusted to intellect,
genius, or talent will not then stand at the head of rank and file. They did not keep pace with the light. Those who have proved
themselves unfaithful will not then be entrusted with the flock. In the last solemn work few great men will be engaged. They are selfsufficient, independent of God, and He cannot use them. The Lord has faithful servants, who in the shaking, testing time will be
disclosed to view. There are precious ones now hidden who have not bowed the knee to Baal. They have not had the light which has
been shining in a concentrated blaze upon you. But it may be under a rough and uninviting exterior the pure brightness of a genuine
Christian character will be revealed. In the day time we look toward heaven but do not see the stars. They are there, fixed in the
firmament, but the eye cannot distinguish them. In the night we behold their genuine luster.

Disciplined Servants. He who loves Christ most will do the greatest amount of good. There is no limit to the usefulness of one
who by putting self aside makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart and lives a life wholly consecrated to God. If
men will endure the necessary discipline, without complaining or fainting by the way, God will teach them hour by hour, and day by
day. Desire of Ages (page 251)

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak
things of the world to shame the strong. and the base things of the world and the despised God has
chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast
before God. (1 Corinthians 1: 27-29)
Increased Knowledge and Understanding. Increased light will shine upon all the grand truths of prophecy, and they will be seen
in freshness and brilliancy because the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness will illuminate the whole. ... Brethren and sisters,
the Lord wants to impart to us increased light. He desires that we shall have distinct revealings of His glory, that ministers and people
shall become strong in His strength. When the angel was about to unfold to Daniel the intensely interesting prophecies to be
recorded for us who are to witness their fulfillment, the angel said, "Be strong, yea, be strong." We are to receive the very same glory
that was revealed to Daniel, because it is for God's people in these last days, that they may give the trumpet a certain sound.

Internal Persecution. As the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the third angel's message, but have not
been sanctified through obedience to the truth, abandon their position and join the ranks of the opposition. ... They become the bitter
enemies of their former brethren.
In this time of persecution the faith of the Lord's servants will be tried. They have faithfully given the warning, looking to God and to
His word alone. God's Spirit, moving upon their hearts, has constrained them to speak. Stimulated with holy zeal, and with the divine
impulse strong upon them, they entered upon the performance of their duties without coldly calculating the consequences of
speaking to the people the word which the Lord had given them. They have not consulted their temporal interests, nor sought to
preserve their reputation or their lives. ... The work which they have undertaken seem far beyond their ability to accomplish. They are
threatened with destruction. The enthusiasm which animated them is gone; yet they cannot turn back. Then feeling their utter
helplessness, they flee to the Mighty One for strength. They remember that the words which they have spoken were not theirs, but
His who bade them give the warning. God put the truth in their hearts, and they could not forbear to proclaim it.

Rapid Movements . The agencies of evil are combining their forces and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great
crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones.

God is in Control. In the annals of human history, the growth of nations, the rise and fall of empires, appear as if dependent on the
will and prowess of man; the shaping of events seems, to a great degree, to be determined by his power, ambition, or caprice. But in
the Word of God the curtain is drawn aside, and we behold, above, behind, and through all the play and counterplay of human
interest and power and passions, the agencies of the All merciful One, silently, patiently working out the counsels of His own will.

partaking of its spirit, they have come to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought, they are prepared to
choose the easy, popular side.
Men of talent and pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to deceive and mislead souls. They become
the most bitter enemies of their former brethren. When Sabbath keepers are brought before the courts to answer for their faith, these
apostates are the most efficient agents of Satan to misrepresent and accuse them, and by false reports and insinuations to stir up the
rulers against them.
Great Controversy, 608.
The Church is Ridiculed. "I saw our people in great distress, weeping, and praying, pleading the sure promises of God, while the
wicked were all around us, mocking us, and threatening to destroy us. They ridiculed our feebleness, they mocked at the smallness
of our numbers, and taunted us with words calculated to cut deep. They charged us with taking an independent position from all the
rest of the world. They had cut off our resources so that we could not buy nor sell, and referred to our abject poverty and stricken
condition. They could not see how we could live without the world; we were dependent upon the world, and we must concede to the
customs, practices, and laws of the world, or go out of it. If we were the only people in the world whom the Lord favored the
appearances were awfully against us. They declared that they had the truth, that miracles were among them, that angels from
heaven talked with them, and walked with them, that great power, and signs and wonders were performed among them, and this was
the Temporal Millennium, which they had been expecting so long. The whole world was converted and in harmony with the Sunday
law, and this little feeble people stood out in defiance of the laws of the land, and the laws of God, and claimed to be the only ones
right on the earth."

Women
In Christ there is no difference between male or female, slave or free, Jew or Gentile" (Galatians 3: 2628). Yet we fail to understand and practice this new freedom. Men still believe that "women should not
teach men" and that our only noble task is cooking, cleaning, secretaries, Sabbath School and anything
related to our children. We would prefer to purchase the successful independent ministries of women
rather than acknowledge the gift of God in them.
The Lord Has a Work for Women.. The Lord has a work for women as well as for men. They may take their places in His work at
this crisis, and He will work through them. If they are imbued with a sense of their duty, and labor under the influence of the Holy
Spirit, they will have just the self-possession required for this time. The Saviour will reflect upon these self-sacrificing women the light
of His countenance, and will give them a power that exceeds that of men. They can do in families a work that men cannot do, a work

that reaches the inner life. They can come close to the hearts of those whom men cannot reach. Their labor is needed.--Review and

Women Have a High Destiny. Sisters, we may do a noble work for God if we will. Woman does not know her power. God did not
intend that her capabilities should be all absorbed in questioning: What shall I eat? what shall I drink? and wherewithal shall I be
clothed? There is a higher purpose for woman, a grander destiny. She should develop and cultivate her powers, for God can employ
them in the great work of saving souls from eternal ruin.--Testimonies, vol. 4, p. 642. {WM 145.2}

Jews In The Last Days

I am waiting for the source of these statements. Although I hear critics repeatedly say that the early
pioneers were Antisemitic. It was probably related to the erroneus views about the Jewish millennial
utopia with a rebuilt temple. I was suprised to see these statements which agree with what I have
concluded from the prophecies. The Jews have an important work as a sign in the last days. Their
conversion to Christianity in numbers that will astonish the world will be one of the many signs in the end
that will accomplish what the Christian church cannot do on its own. This unity between Jews and
Christians is the sign that Jesus prayed for to demonstrate to the universe.
A Large Harvest of Jews. "The Jews are coming into the ranks of God's chosen followers, and are being numbered with the people
of God, for the Scripture says, 'Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with His people.'
Among the Jews many will be converted and will come to the light, and will proclaim the immutability of the law of God with wonderful
power." Manuscript 95, 1906. {Ev 577.4}
The Sleeper Awakens. "It has been a strange thing to me that there were so few who felt a burden to labor for the Jewish people,
who are scattered throughout so many lands. Christ will be with you as you strive to strengthen your perceptive faculties, that you
may more clearly behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. The slumbering faculties of the Jewish people are
to be aroused. The Old Testament Scriptures, blending with the New, will be to them as the dawning of a new creation, or as the
resurrection of the soul. Memory will be awakened as Christ is seen portrayed in the pages of the Old Testament. Souls will be saved
from the Jewish nation, as the doors of the New Testament are unlocked with the key of the Old Testament. Christ will be recognized
as the Saviour of the World. Many of the Jewish people will by faith receive Christ as their Redeemer. [PH114 9.2]
Converted Jews In The Closing Work. There will be many converted from among the Jews, and these converts will aid in preparing
the way of the Lord, and making straight in the desert a highway for our God. Converted Jews are to have an important part to act in
the great preparations to be made in the future to receive Christ, our Prince. A nation shall be born in a day. How? By men whom

God has appointed being converted to the truth. There will be seen 'first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.' The

Contribution To Science And Health

Dangers of Smoking. In her days, not only were doctors prescribing smoking, they were
actually telling people to inhale deeply so that the beneficial smoke can go deep into their lungs.
In her days, the Coca Cola company was actually putting cocaine in soft drinks.
In her days, cocaine was being widely used by the rich.
In her days, medicine was being practiced with unwashed hands - and she said no to this
technique.
The Benefits of a Vegetarian Diet. Even by the late 1970's and early 1980's vegetarianism was
not popular. I know. That was when I became a vegetarian. Now science has proved her correct.
She talked about the benefits of the soy bean - before we knew what it was. She talked about
diseases being carried by animals and how it would get worse in the last days. History has proved
her right. The point is her viewpoints were controversial and against the best medical advice of her
day and she had limited education. She must have received this information supernaturally.
The Benefits of Exercise and Eight Principles of Health. She praised the benefits of water,
exercise, rest and fasting, temperance, nutrition, trusting God, fresh air and sunlight. Clinics which
used her methods (like the famous Battle Creek Sanitarium) were sought after by the rich and
famous. Now, others are selling these same principles as new ideas.
Education. Through her influence, the Seventh Day Church has the largest Protestant school
and Medical systems in the world.
A survey in the 1980's shows that African American males from the Seventh day Adventist Church
are the most well adjusted men of African descent in the United States. This has been attributed to
the role of education.

Advanced Science In The Last Days

I learned about this prediction a month ago and finally found it 5 October 2012. She encourages the
development of a school system and one of the purposes was for the study of advanced science. It will
be an important tool at the end of time. I am certain that what God gave me is involved in this prediction.
The mathematical and visual proof that a model of the Periodic Table of Chemistry, advanced particle
physics and DNA replication are in the design of the sanctuary in Bible (Exodus 26) as better models
that currently exist is astounding. It is the science proof of the first angel's message which calls us to

worship God as the creator. It seems that this call also comes with proof we need. I am just waiting for
Adventists to realize what God has given the church regarding science starting on 21 December 2008.
In addition God also gave proof of over 700 Messianic prophecies since the end of 2000. Salvation
science is the most important.
Advanced Science Involved In The Final Work. The schools established among us are matters of grave responsibility; for
important interests are involved. In a special manner our schools are a spectacle unto angels and to men. A knowledge of science of
all kinds is power, and it is in the purpose of God that advanced science shall be taught in our schools as a preparation for
the work that is to precede the closing scenes of earth's history.
Salvation Science Is The Most Important Science. The truth is to go to the remotest bounds of the earth, through agents trained
for the work. But while the knowledge of science is a power, the knowledge which Jesus in person came to impart to the world was
the knowledge of the gospel. The light of truth was to flash its bright rays into the uttermost parts of the earth, and the acceptance or
rejection of the message of God involved the eternal destiny of souls. The plan of salvation had its place in the counsels of the Infinite
from all eternity. The gospel is the revelation of God's love to men, and means everything that is essential to the happiness and wellbeing of humanity.
Godless Science Is Not Wisdom But Satanic. The work of God in the earth is of immeasurable importance, and it is Satan's
special object to crowd it out of sight and mind, that he may make his specious devices effectual in the destruction of those for whom
Christ died. It is his purpose to cause the discoveries of men to be exalted above the wisdom of God. When the mind is engrossed
with the conceptions and theories of men to the exclusion of the wisdom of God, it is stamped with idolatry. Science, falsely so-called,
has been exalted above God, nature above its maker, and how can God look upon such wisdom?
Ellen G. White. The Science of Salvation the First of Sciences (Christian Education, Page 83-84 and Review and Herald, 1
December 1891)

Logically speaking there is only one reason why we need schools and knowledge of advanced science
as an important tool for the end of time. It is not what we expected. We expected power over science
and nature. God needs expert scientists who believe that His word is true.
Supernatural Gifts. It cannot be the gifts that defy scientific knowledge like healing or multiplying
food or stopping the sun because we do not need schools of science to do these miracles or
explain them. Giving a scientific explanation is not the purpose of miracles. It is the opposite.
Miracles show a God who is more powerful and more advanced than all we can think or imagine or
explain.

 Advanced Technology To Advance The Gospel. HMS Richards Sr. and the voice of prophecy
were pioneers in using radio to advance the gospel. As far as I know they were not experts in
science in order to recognize its potential or to use it for their ministry. So it cannot be the
advancement of technology through the use of modern inventions because we do not need a
scientific education to purchase and use them. Computers, radio, television, satellite, solar radios,
Godpods, and the internet are all wonderful tools used in the advancement of the gospel that none
of our schools was instrumental in discovering, designing or leading the world in innovative use.
Snatching Reason From The Jaws Of Ridicule. We need expertise and education in the advanced
sciences because we will be counteracting the so-called experts in these fields who are selling the
nonsense of Satan. How can we know that our science models are superior if we do not understand the
sciences? With this tool we can counteract the terrible influence of godless scientists on the admiration
of the vast majority of the "enlightened" society. God is out of favor because of them. It is time for them
to be out of favor because of God.
For too long Satan has claimed the domain of the rational and logical and common sense. It is time for
us to beat Satan at his own game by appealing to the world on the basis of rational and logical
reasoning.
If such advanced science is in the pages of the Torah given to Moses 3500 years ago, then everything
else God told Moses on Mount Sinai cannot be dismissed as myth?
So the One who came to Sinai and gave Moses this model must be God as He claimed in the first
commandment and He must have created the world in six literal days. Why lie if it is 12 billion years? We
would not be any less awed by His power.
Since this story is so factual that it took 6000 years for us to understand these hidden truths then why
should the rest of the story that we can understand be a lie and a myth?
It is just plain old common sense, isn't it?

Contribution To Prophecy

All prophetic interpretation on this Web site, is based on the prophecies of

Daniel and Revelation and the New Testament. In looking at Mrs. White's
prophecies, I find that what she adds to a few prophecies is the
identification of a group and information on sequence and detail, but
generally there was no new prophecy. The greatest contribution to our
understanding are the following: Protestant Leadership. It is the
Protestants that will seem to lead the takeover of the United States
government and use spiritualism. This has been fulfilled since 1980 when
the Protestants organized political entities to petition the government and
occupy these positions.

prophecy. The government funnels billions to Catholic charities and few thousand to other religious

Charitable Choice (1996). John Ashcroft incorporated into the 1996 welfare reform act legislation
that allows sectarian groups to bid on government contracts to operate social services.
Meeting Catholic Leaders (January 26, 2001). Six days after his inauguration Bush has dinner
with Catholic bishops to discuss faith-based initiative at the home of Cardinal Theodore E.
McCarrick. Present were Cardinal Hickey, Archbishop Montalvo, the Papal Nuncio, Bishop Lori
Bishop and Fiorenza (president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops). The Catholic church
currently receives 65% of the funding.
New Office (January 29, 2001). With his first executive order, President Bush established the
White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and Centers for Faith-Based and
Community Initiatives in five Cabinet agencies (Education, Health and Human Services, Housing
and Urban Development, Justice and Labor).
Community Solutions Act of 2002 (H.R. 7) (July 19, 2001). It passed the House by a vote of
233-198. The Senate version (Santorum-Lieberman Bill), known as the CARE Act (S. 1924)
(Charity Aid, Recovery, and Empowerment Act of 2002), never received a vote on the Senate floor.
Executive Order (12 December 2002). Since the laws failed to pass both houses of congress,
president Bush bypassed congress and implemented key elements of the faith-based initiative by
executive order, making it law by the desire of one imperial king.

Europe already supports religious institutions. In places like Germany, the church runs the public school
system.
"Enforce the Decrees". This is being done in Europe but only partially in the United States as
"Roman Catholic principles will be taken under the care and protection of the state".
Birth Control. Since the Reagan Administration, the government has supported the church in not
distributing birth control in the world. In the USA the church intends to outlaw birth control, not just
abortion. With this issue one can also see a two pronged approach as the church also enforces its
wishes through private organizations as several pharmacies and pharmacists refuse to distribute
birth control medication.
Sunday Laws. They are enforced in Europe but not widely in the USA.
Eucharist. In 2008, the church is demanding secular intervention after several publicized incidents
of people (Catholics) taking the eucharist for personal reasons. The church is demanding
expulsions from public schools and threatening legal action.
Through the bad behavior of their own parishioners they are establishing the prescedent that the
government must protect the church from subjective words and actions that the church perceives
as disrespectful and harmful.
Christian Society. Establish it as a legal prescedent that the civil laws are based on Christian
principles. In the USA they are trying to establish that this was the intention of the framers of the
constitution. In Europe, they are trying to get this statement inserted into the new constitution.
Symbols. Outward symbols of Christianity are being protected while other religious symbols and
dress are being banned from the public schools. This single action demonstrates the real intention
behind all the attempts to make Christianity the foundation of the law. Now they are trampling on

superficial rights of Jews, Muslims, and other religious groups soon it will be worship actions as
they are trying to do with the Eucharist.
The Catholic Leadership. Protestants will submit to Catholic leadership.
In the movements now in progress in the United States to secure for the institutions and usage of the church the support of the state,
Protestants are following in the steps of papists. No, more, they are opening the door for the papacy to regain in Protestant America
the supremacy which she has lost in the Old World.

person of His witness. This union is cemented by the great apostate.

Sunday Laws. Governments will enforce Sunday as the day of rest.

To secure popularity and patronage, legislators will yield to the demand for a Sunday Law.

If the people can be led to favor a Sunday law, then the clergy intend to exert their influence to obtain a religious amendment to the
constitution, and compel the nation to keep Sunday.

Sunday Laws in Europe. Europe now has Sunday laws disguised as labor laws since 1993. There
was a ten year period of adjustment so that after 2003 the members were expected to comply.
Generally, Europe no longer hosts sporting events on Sunday, some businesses are still open but there
is soft pressure for closure. Employees no longer have a legal remedy for job loss because the law only
guarantees one day of rest. But the law stipulates that that day must be Sunday. See how
churches influence the United States government.
See how the government cooperates with the church.
See how the church influences other governments.
Sunday Laws in America. We have laws that are loosely enforced but have been declared
constitutional.
There are powerful movements trying to secure Sunday as a day of rest that will be enforced. These
forces are also trying to get the European and American legislatures to make Christianity the foundation
of civil law because that was the intention of the architects of the constitution. Because, in the mind of
Rome, if the states are Catholic they derive their authority from the Catholic church.
Spiritualism. Occult beliefs will become popular in the church.
A Popular Movement in the Last Days. I saw that the mysterious knocking in New York [Hydesville, New York 1848] and other
places was the power of Satan and that such things would be more and more common, clothed in a religious garb so as to lull the
deceived to greater security and to draw the minds of God's people, if possible, to those things and cause them to doubt the

teachings and power of the Holy Ghost.

A Dazzling Being. "As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ. The church has long

Church Union. Churches will unite on points of common interest, not doctrine. This has been fulfilled
by the ecumenical movements and the combination of Catholics and Protestants to influence the political
process since 1980's.
The wide diversity in belief in the Protestant churches is regarded by many as decisive proof that no effort to secure a forced
uniformity can ever be made. But there has been for years, in churches of the Protestant faith, a strong and growing sentiment in
favor of a union based upon common points of doctrine. To secure such a union, the discussion of subjects upon which all were not
agreed - however important they might be from a Bible standpoint - must necessarily be waived.

Protestants Change. Romanism is now regarded by Protestants with far greater favor than in former years. In those countries
where Catholicism is not in the ascendancy, and the papists are taking a conciliatory course in order to gain influence, there is an
increasing indifference concerning the doctrines that separate the reformed churches from the papal hierarchy; the opinion is gaining
ground that, after all, we do not differ so widely upon vital points as has been supposed, and that a little concession on our part will
bring us into a better understanding with Rome. The time was when Protestants placed a high value upon the liberty of conscience
which had been so dearly purchased. They taught their children to abhor popery and held that to seek harmony with Rome would be
disloyalty to God. But how widely different are the sentiments now expressed!
The defenders of the papacy declare that the church has been maligned, and the Protestant world are inclined to accept the
statement. Many urge that it is unjust to judge the church of today by the abominations and absurdities that marked her reign during
the centuries of ignorance and darkness. They excuse her horrible cruelty as the result of the barbarism of the times and plead that
the influence of modern civilization has changed her sentiments.

Status of Church Unions. Most large Protestant churches have already united. Many now seek to unite
with the Roman church. Already, the Catholic church is making special consideration for these clergy they can remain married.

Although some united churches still have their own name, they now exchange clergy and for all intent
and purposes have put aside any doctrinal differences. The pastor serves as a goodwill ambassador in
there is no emphasis on important doctrines. The result is that we now see a change in the view of the
authority of the Bible. Now practices unheard of in the church are now accepted. Now all church doctrine
takes its cue from the secular world.
We wondered how they could reconcile their differences. They are not - they are ignoring the Bible. See
the history of Ecumenism and completed Unions and cooperation.
The union will not, however, be affected by a change in Catholicism, for Rome never changes. She claims infallibility. It is
Protestantism that will change.

Other Last Day Predictions.

A Pandemic. She predicted that for merciful reasons God would allow a pandemic at the end of
time. This will kill many elderly and children because they will not be able to survive the
persecution. (I am searching for the reference but the following may be related to this prophecy).
This promise is yours. You may be comforted and trust in the Lord. The Lord has often instructed me that many little ones are
to be laid away before the time of trouble. We will see our children again. We will meet them and know them in the heavenly
courts. Put your trust in the Lord, and be not afraid. (Letter 196, 1899)

Slavery Returns. I remember when her critics laughed about this. They said that this was
impossible in our civilized society with international laws.
Slavery has returned to the world. Mainly among criminal organizations but also in many "civilized"
countries. This time the slavery is more evil and vicious and cruel. It preys on the helpless children.
It is openly being done in American colonies with the blessings of some members of congress who
claim to be born again Christians. Check out the garment industry in the Marinaras Islands.
American Slavery. Saipan is an island in the north North Marinaras Island. It is a United States

protectorate. Indentured servants are being used with the full knowledge of the congress. Women
are lured from China and the Philippines to "come to America". They spend their life savings of up
to six to eight thousand dollars for the trip, thinking that they are coming to the main land, and end
up in the garment industry sweat shops on Saipan. The prettier women are forced into prostitution,
even child prostitution. They are forced to have abortions when they become pregnant. They are
often locked in the factories without breaks and sometimes overnight. They are sometimes not
allowed to record their work on their time cards. So they are cheated out of the number of hours
worked, and although it is a United States property the minimum wage is not applied there.
Legislation was passed in the senate to ensure that the minimum wage would be guaranteed
there. But it has been deliberately stalled by the member of congress who scheduled these votes
in the house. After visiting the island, this professed "born again" Christian said to the owners of
these businesses "You represent everything the republican party stands for, free enterprise".
Delay the Vote. This same excuse for a human promised that this would never come up for a
vote as long as he was in charge. So that these pimps and slave masters can continue business
as usual.
It is a shame that since this is common knowledge among the senate and congress that our
country would allow a technicality such as the scheduling of a vote to allow this atrocity to
continue. Not in my name.
Miracles. In the last days, Satan will perform many real miracles. Revelation states that the
whole world will be deceived by the beast and the false prophet because of miracles. Therefore
the final actions and message cannot be centered on a display of power but rather on the word of
God. This strategy is supported by the Old Testament which states that no prophet can contradict
the word of God, and any prophecy must be subject to the scrutiny of the written word. Prophecy
cannot contradict the written word.
God's people will not find their safety in working miracles, for Satan will counterfeit the miracles that will be wrought.

The Bible will never be superseded by miraculous manifestations. The truth must be studied, it must be searched for
as hidden treasure. Wonderful illuminations will not be given aside from the word or take the place of it. Cling to the

Signs in the Heavens. I thought that this prophecy was interesting, considering the Catholic
prediction of blessed Faustina. Notice that Mrs. White's prophecy was published in 1911, while the
vision ofFatima was in 1917, and the vision of blessed Faustina was in 1937. Faustina claims that
a great cross will appear in the sky. The Fatima incidences were accompanied by signs in the sky.
Different witnesses saw different things. This vision is slightly similar to Ellen White 's vision of
1911. Satan does not know the future. He can make a good guess. But Ellen White states that he
does study prophecies and prophets to see what he can learn. What is also interesting to me is the
fact that even during the time of trouble and the death decree, he is unaware that all has been
decided and the end is within the life time of these people.
A Bright Star. A bright star appears before the Second Coming.
Through a rift in the clouds there beams a star whose brilliance is increased fourfold in contrast with the darkness. It
speaks hope and joy to the faithful, but severity and wrath to the transgressors of God's law. Those who have
sacrificed all for Christ are now secure, hidden as in the secret of the Lord's pavilion.

The Law Of God Appears In The Sky. According to Mrs. White , the following event will
occur during the seven last plagues. Interestingly, it will be during this time that the great
delusion will occur. The event will certainly be the false Second Coming. Does Satan intend
to use the vision of Faustina to fool even Adventists? It is a provocative thought. One vision
has a hand holding the ten commandments, the other has a vision of a cross. Although we
are prepared for a false Second Coming, will we think that this is the vision of the hand
holding the ten commandments?
There is no need to be fooled, if we are not immediately translated it is not the Second
Coming.
There appears in the sky a hand holding two tablets of stone folded together. Says the prophet, "The heavens declare
His righteousness for God is judge Himself" Psalm 50: 6.
That holy law, God's righteousness, that amid thunder and flame was proclaimed from Sinai as the guide for life, is
now revealed to men as the rule of judgment.
The hand opens the tables, there are seen the precepts of the decalogue, traced as with a pen of fire. The words are
so plain that all can read them. Memory is aroused, the darkness of superstition and heresy is swept from every mind,

and God's ten words, brief comprehensive, and authoritative, are presented to the view of all the inhabitants of the
earth.

Fulfilled Prophecies.

1906 San Francisco Earthquake

Most of her prophecies were about events in the future. But some were
fulfilled while she was alive. She prophesied specifically about the
destruction of San Francisco three years before the earthquake of 1906.
She also prophesied about the loss of magnificent buildings in large
cities.
San Francisco. San Francisco and Oakland are becoming as Sodom and Gomorrah, and
the Lord will visit them. Not far hence they will suffer under His judgments.
Manuscript 30, 1903
New York. On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the night season called upon
to behold buildings rising story after story toward heaven. These buildings were warranted to
be fireproof, and they were erected to glorify their owners and builders. . . .
The scene that next passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men looked at the lofty and
supposedly fireproof buildings and said: "They are perfectly safe." But these buildings were
consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction. The
firemen were unable to operate the engines.

On April 18,1906 at 5:12 AM, a 7.87.9 magnitude earthquake shook

the city for one minute. Other
estimates are a magnitude 8.25.
The earth moved 21 feet and broke
open for 300 miles. Fire (April 1821).This damaged water and gas
pipes. 4.7 square miles were
destroyed in a fire that lasted for
three days and nights, burning at

rescued from the beaches as they

I am instructed that when the Lord's time comes, should no change have taken place in the
hearts of proud, ambitious human beings, men will find that the hand that had been strong to
save will be strong to destroy. No earthly power can stay the hand of God. No material can be used in the erection of buildings that
will preserve them from destruction when God's appointed time comes to send retribution on men for their disregard of His law and
for their selfish ambition.

Sequence of Final Prophetic Events

Ellen White added information about the importance and
sequence of events. As of 2001 we are at the point where
the image of the beast is forming. And as of 2002 we can
probably say that Babylon is fallen because she has become
the location of every foul spirit. You will understand why I say
this, if you have been monitoring the visions from Mary, the
impact it has on the church, and how it has driven this pope
to make an alliance with every world leader and power, and
the admiration they receive - even from the media.
The table on the right represents my interpretation of the
sequence of events or the type of issues according to her

The Sealing Of The Righteous. This is the work of

the judgment from 1844 to the end.
7 Second Coming
Sealing in the Book During the Ten Days of Awe.
Between Rosh Hashannah and the end of Yom Kippur the Jews also believed that this as a

solemn time in which their names are sealed or kept in the Book of Life or blotted out. In this
period Jews would greet each other with these words.
"May you be sealed and may your name be written in the book."

I was amazed, I had never seen this in Adventist circles. We were teaching what the Jews taught
about the judgment without even knowing it. Only God coordinated this knowledge and
understanding.
The Close Of Probation. Now that judgment to determine who will be among the righteous saints
is completed, God makes a declaration that signals that He has officially finished this phase of His
work. He has finished cleansing them from sin.
Forever Wicked. Let the one who does wrong still do wrong, and the one who is filthy still be
filthy.
Forever Righteous. And let the one who practises righteousness still be righteous, and the one
who is holy still keep himself holy. (Revelation 22: 11)
God makes this decision at the perfect time when all have made irrevocable decisions that He
cannot influence.
Neilah ("Locking"). The gates of heaven are closed at the end of Yom Kippur.
Alhough our enemies mock this belief, it was a pleasant surprise to see this belief enshrined in the
rituals of Yom Kippur.
No Intercessor. And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power;
and no one was able to enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were
finished.(Revelation 15: 8)
While the plagues are falling, no one can enter the temple. The fact is that at this point the wicked
do not care to repent and the righteous have already repented. So the temple is closed because
no one wants access. There will never be a time when anyone wants to genuinely repent and God
will never hear.

Finished Work. The high priest leaves after he has finished making the offering and cleaning up
the sanctuary and he cannot enter the Most Holy place for another year.
The plagues also last one year and nobody can enter the temple.
Perfect People. In connection with this declaration, the Bible affirms that the world will be
separated into two groups. Each will remain righteous or wicked. From the laws and the symbols
we can conclude that this occurs just before the plagues are poured out when there is no
intercessor in the sanctuary.
The plagues will last one year (one prophetic day). So for one year, the righteous will be filled with
the Holy Spirit Who will keep them righteous. That is the promise of Revelation 22: 11.
For this reason in one day her plagues will come ... (Revelation 18: 8)
Righteous People. The sins of the people are removed and the sanctuary is cleansed. And, as
far as God was concerned those people were perfect.
Firepan And Ashes. The pouring out of the plagues may correspond to the last act of the high
priest on Yom Kippur when they remove the firepan, coal and ashes from the incense offered. This
imagery coordinates with Revelation 15: 5-8 and the prayers of the martyrs.

Ellen White Criticism and Answers

It would not be fair to talk about her work without talking about her critics. The claim is that if something
she said did not come through then she is a false prophet. I agree - unless it was a conditional
prophecy.
In 2000, my response to these criticisms were to look at the charges and see which ones were
absolutely indefensible - no matter what. Then I intended to do a lengthy search of articles. Fortunately,
someone had written a book many decades ago about these same charges.
I will not answer all the criticisms, especially those which are obvious misrepresentations. But I
answered all the worst ones that I could find and the ones that also concerned me. But you can read the
responses in the book by Francis Nichol (1). I will respond to all the criticisms that I selected as

disturbing before I found this book.

So, I will give you my initial reaction to the charge and also the answers that I received from Francis
Nichol, who has studied all her writings.
Criticism

Response

Her writing are considered another Bible by Adventists.

My initial response was that was not how I was brought up in the church. And I have never met
anyone who even suggested that her writings were equal to the bible. I have met people who
believe that if we think she is a prophet, then we ought to listen to her (they were mostly talking
about vegetarianism). This generation ignores her almost like her generation.
She was criticized for "reversing" herself on Sabbath keeping by telling workers in Australia to "give
Sunday to the Lord".
My Response. I did not believe that she said we should not keep Sabbath. It looked like it
meant work for God on Sunday. So I wanted to see the whole story in context to find out what
else "give Sunday to the Lord" meant that caused people to believe that it meant to ignore the
Sabbath.
Nichol's Response. The fact is that legislative persecution was happening. Blue laws were in
effect and officers of the court were actually spying on Adventist institutions to see if they were
violating Sunday by working on that day.
She did not say that Sabbath (Saturday) was no longer necessary - rather, she said that in
order to avoid the appearance of being trouble makers we should stop working on Sundays and
devote that day also to missionary work. You see, we do not violate God's commandments
by not working on other days - we just violate His laws by working on Saturday. So they still
kept Sabbath but did missionary work on Sundays instead of work that could cause arrest.
She is criticized for repeating other prophecies or other works.
My Response. This is an absurd criticism because, as you will see, in prophetic studies - God
continually repeats the prophecies and often adds details in later prophecies. If fact, one of the
tests of the validity of a prophet is that they do not contradict previous prophets or the words of
God, but reinforce them. Therefore, she cannot be a "Lone Wolf" prophet with brand new ideas
which have no foundation in the past. It would seem that these critics want her to behave like
store front psychics who make predictions about everything trivial and modern.

She gave false figures on the moons of a planet.

My Response. I had none. But, after reading Nichol's response, I was ashamed at the length to
which critics would go in deliberately misrepresenting the facts. When they quoted "her vision",
they were actually quoting other people's writings and blending two visions.
Nichol's Response. There might have been two separate visions. In the final one that she
wrote, neither names or number of moons were recorded. In what might have been an earlier
vision in which an astronomer was present she never named the planets. It was the astronomer
who jumped to the conclusion that it must have been Saturn and Jupiter. Her husband
assumed this also. But neither the witnesses to the first vision, nor her own account of what
might have been a second vision reports that she named any planet.
Further Response. I just finished researching information for a science page and geography
project and I was amused at the information about the "moons of a planet". They keep finding
many of these things as they probe the universe. Until 2002 Jupiter had 16 moons, the number
is now 63. Saturn had 18, it is now 34. In addition, the definition of a moon also includes objects
that orbit a planet but are so far away or so small that they might meet the scientific definition
but not the observational definition. Therefore, she could be describing the number of visible
moons from her perspective in the vision. This means that she may not even have seen the
visible moons on the other side of the planet at that time of day.
This year (2004) I finally had the first of many dreams in my entire life. They were apocalyptic
dreams. I am amazed at how much I remember and what I think is important as I am trying to
write down these dreams. It truly gave me some perspective on this incident. I have also had
incidences where people have taken what I said and in public stated what they thought it
means in a way that made it seem that I agreed. When in reality I had no clue and I never
made such associations and in some cases actually said "I do not believe it means this". So
until things are more clear, I documented most of my experiences so that I can capture the
sense of bewilderment.
She made a false claim that some in her day would be alive at the Second Coming.
My Response. My initial response was that we had the same problem with words of the
disciple and even Jesus Himself. Jesus seemed to have said that this generation who saw the
destruction of Jerusalem would see the Second Coming.
On this topic, Jesus also said that those who "pierced" Him would see Him coming. We do not
know how this will work out because these prophecies will occur at the very end. Therefore, we

cannot say that they will not be fulfilled.

Some have speculated that there will be a special resurrection of Jesus' tormentors so that they
would see His victory, then they will be killed with the rest of the wicked. With this possibility,
then it is entirely possible that either the resurrection of the righteous will occur in time for them
to see His coming, or for some martyrs and workers (for example the disciples) they will have
this experience while the rest of the righteous dead will be resurrected minutes later.
Anyway, it is irrelevant since it cannot be proved until the end and it does not contradict what
will happen.
Slavery until the second advent
My response is that slavery does exist now in a worse form - Child sexual slavery.
Financial Affairs. She commercialized her work, lived lavishly, owned much fine land, died heavily
in debt and gave gifts to her children through her book royalties.
According to her critics, there is an implied sin in the fact that she took royalties from her
books.
Royalties. These are the facts. She used the royalties to pay for major publishing costs typesetting, illustrations, workers. She supported missionary efforts in several places. She paid
for the tuition of several students. At her death she owed money because she had to borrow
against the royalties to continue the work.
Died in Debt. But her estate went to the church which settled the $21,000 debt out of the
income.
Lived Lavishly. She is also accused of owning much fine property. She owned 50 acres,
bought another 150 acres of hillside property for the wood (it was cheaper). She and other
church members used the wood for fuel - chopping the wood also provided labor for others.
When the wood was cleared for the property she exchanged the property for other property
which was later given to the church to build a school.
If you would be fair, I would like you to compare her life and her use of money to the current
religious leaders who live in palatial mansions, are always promoting their books and family
businesses, and fly in private jets and use only luxurious hotel suites costing thousands of
dollars per night.
Historical Note. President Thomas Jefferson died $107,000 in debt and his estate at
Monticello was sold to pay for some of his debt. He was in debt because he gave much to

charitable causes because others would not support such righteous causes as public
education.
She said the tower of Babel was before the flood.
The Lord first established the system of sacrificial offerings with Adam after the fall, which he taught
to his descendants. The system was corrupted before the flood, and by those who separated
themselves from the faithful followers of God, and engaged in the building of the tower of Babel.
The underlined section is the missing text. It totally changes the meaning.
My Response. My initial response was that it must have been a typographical error. Because
even a six year old knows that the tower came after the flood. Besides, in all of the writings in
which she talks about the tower of Babel, it was about their continued disobedience
even after the flood.
Nichol's Response. This was attributed to a statement in Spiritual Gifts Volume 3, page 301.
The editor of the Review and Herald apologized for this error on July 31, 1866 stating that after
the word "flood" a comma and an "and" had been left out.
At this point I became disgusted. In the process of building this WEB site, I had stumbled
across a recent internet site that had these charges.
I had made a decision to do the prophecies only with the text from the Bible and not to add her
prophecies. Because our beliefs are based on the Bible. Because I had written a section on
false prophets and because I found the WEB site with the criticisms, I decided to include this
WEB page.
I was disgusted because, at least on this one point, the error and explanation had been
discovered over 130 years ago. The book which I later discovered that answered these criticism
had been in print since 1951!
Yet people insist on making these false charges because most people will check no further. I
expected more honesty from Christian leaders.
Adventists worship on the Sabbath because she decided so after one of her false visions
We worship on the Sabbath because the Bible says so.
She did not receive every single detail of every doctrine we came to believe in vision. The early
leaders prayed and studied and debated. They came to the Sabbath truth in 1846 through a
Seventh Day Baptist named Rachel Oakes Preston. Then Joseph Bates introduced it to Mrs
White. They studied it and came to the conclusion that this was correct. Then they later learned

that the Jews started their day from sunset to sunset. This caused another series of study and
debate - and they came to the truth through study and prayer. Afterwards she did confirm
through a vision that they were correct, but we had already decided through Bible study that
this was correct.

The Test Of A True Prophet. These are the biblical tests.

Magnifies The Law. To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word it
is because they have no light. (Isaiah 8: 20)
The only criticism that they have is that we are going back to the old "Jewish" laws. At least we
affirm that the new testament should not contradict the old and as such we are closer to the old
ways than those who claim that the laws have been changed.
Does Not Lead To Disobedience And Idolatry. If the prophet does all kinds of miracles, their
message is wonderful and their predictions come through, but leads you to idolatry or to serve
other gods, then it is not from God. This is the major indication that the prophets who promote the
Marian apparition are not from God. Their messages all promote worship of Mary and turning to
her and to saints as our advocates.
If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a
miraculous sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he
says, 'Let us follow other gods' (gods you have not known) 'and let us worship them,' you must not
listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether
you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow, and
him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to
him. (Deuteronomy 13: 1-4 NIV)
A prophet of God always points us back to the law of God as the standard.
Jesus Is The Focus. But when He, the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For
He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will disclose

to you what is to come. He will glorify me, for He will take of mine and disclose it to you. (John 16:
13-14)
The books "Steps to Christ" and "Desire of Ages" all magnify Christ and put us in touch with His
feelings. Although she mentions events from His life that we cannot prove from history, yet none of
these contradict what we know about Him and His mission. Nothing leads us to disobey God.
Filled With The Spirit. She exhibits three tasks of the Holy Spirit.
And He when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;
concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the
Father and you no longer see me; and concerning judgment because the ruler of this world has
been judged. (John 16: 8-11)
Sin. She warns us about sin.
Righteousness ("Christ"). She constantly points us to the righteousness of Christ and His
role as our only intercessor.
Judgment. She warns of the coming judgment through the messages of the three angels.
Characteristics Of The Remnant. The people in the last days will have certain teachings.
And the dragon was angry with the woman and went off to make war with the rest of her children,
who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus. (Revelation 12: 17)
Keep The Commandments. The early pioneers returned to Sabbath keeping. She agreed
with their conclusions.
Have The Testimony Of Jesus. She uplifts Christ constantly and tries to explain the events
from God's point of view.
Reveals The Future. Many of her prophecies deal with identifying groups who will fulfill the

events of the last days. While the prophecies trace the papacy as the "Man of Sin" in the
end, yet she identifies Protestant America as being in the foreground in courting the
government.
If an unconditional prophecy does not come through then that is a false prophet. However,
sometimes a prophecy takes 3000 or more years to come through. Look at Daniel. He
basically repeated the prophecies of Jeremiah, but the unique information he added began to
be fulfilled 490 years later.
The Spirit Of Prophecy. If there is one criticism I have of Adventists it is how they apply
the term "Spirit of Prophecy". The "Spirit of Prophecy" is all the testimony about Jesus Christ
given to all the prophets by the Holy Spirit. It is not exclusively the writings of Mrs White.
Because we label her books as "the Spirit of Prophecy" does not make it so. No more than
the pope labelling himself as the "Vicar of Christ" makes him so. Or the church labelling
Sunday as the "Lord's Day" makes it the Sabbath or makes it the day on which John had his
vision (Revelation 1: 10).
When proponents use this term, they usually quote Revelation 12: 17 with this verse.
Then I fell at His feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Do not do that; I am a fellow
servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus, worship God. For the
testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Revelation 19: 10)
Associating a made up label with a mysterious bible phrase is not proof. I have learned that
the testimony about Jesus is given by the Holy Spirit to all the prophets. Therefore, all
prophets and all prophecy is about Jesus. If a messenger of God never uplifts Christ
constantly or show how other prophets point to God then the Spirit that is leading them
cannot be from God. For the testimony about Jesus is the work of the Spirit who guides all
the prophets. (John 16: 8-14)
She testifies positively about Jesus and the great love of God and she prophesies about the
future and these events are coming through. That fact is the evidence that shows that her
work can be included among the works of the Spirit who gives and explains prophecy.

In her testimony about Jesus, Ellen White does not pass herself off as a Bible scholar who is
responsible for giving Adventist doctrine. She explains God's feelings and decisions in the
Bible stories. There is only one area in which she steps outside the written record. She
testifies about the hidden years of Jesus and what He experienced. And, although none of
that particular information can be proven from the Bible, yet none of it tarnishes or changes
what is said or gives us contradictory instructions. It helps us to understand Christ, which is
the task of the Holy Spirit to show the prophet.
Contrast that with others who claim to know about the hidden years of Christ as a child and
even after the resurrection. It contradicts the Bible and the mission of Christ. Christ was God.
He did not get married and move to India and have children. He did not marry Mary. He was
never a sinner although He suffered as one.
The Firm Foundation Of Our Faith. My opinion about her work is that she is an advocate for the
position of God. She is not a theologian who introduces doctrine. She supports doctrine that others have
proven from the Bible. Sometimes she has a vision that assists them, but everything is in harmony with
the Word of God. She said the following about herself.
Diligent Bible Study. Many of our people do not realize how firmly the foundation of our faith has been laid.
...
Often we remainded together until late at night, and sometimes through the entire night, praying for light and studying the Word.
Again and again these brethren came together to study the Bible, in order that they might know its meaning, and be prepared to
teach it with power. When they came to a point in their study when they said, "We can do nothing more", the Spirit of the Lord would
come upon me, I would be taken off in vision, and a clear explanation of the passages we had been studying would be given me, with
instructions as to how we were to labor and teach effectively.
...
During the whole time I could not understand the reasoning of the brethren. My mind was locked, as it were, and I could not
comprehend the meaning of the scriptures we were studying. This is one of the greatest sorrows of my life. I was in this condition of
mind until all the principal points of our faith were made clear to our minds, in harmony with the Word of God. The brethren knew that
when not in vision, I could not understand these matters, and they accepted as light direct from heaven the revelations given.

As they studied, God gave her revelations that she shared with the brethren when they could no longer
understand, otherwise she could not follow their reasoning. Because it was difficult for her to understand
their theological discussions, they took it as a revelation from God when she was able to explain any
difficulty that even they could not understand but she could explain to their satisfaction.
This web site does not use Mrs White to prove any doctrine. But God has allowed me to prove unique
predictions that she made by the Bible and to harmonize the Old and the New Testaments.

Summary
The Adventist message rose as a part of a prophetic movement. The message and the disappointment
were prophesied, and God provided a prophet to guide them. And God may now be leading others.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, and test
them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them; I will say,
They are my people, And they will say, The Lord is my God. Zechariah 13: 9.
