Founded in 1992, Shanghai Municipal Investment formerly known as Shanghai Chengtou


(hereinafter referred as SMI or the Company) is the largest state-owned enterprise in

The US subsidiary of Shanghai Municipal Investment, SMI USA, is a full-service real
estate development, investment and management firm based in New York. Since 2014,
SMI USA has been actively engaging and executing deals in New York and plans to
make a lasting impression on the citys landscape. The Companys extensive experience
is highlighted by the recent completion of the biggest building in the world, Shanghai
Tower. This project, coupled with other first-class developments allows SMI USA to

SMI USA is currently seeking a full-time Building Envelope Engineer/Architect to join


the dynamic real estate development team in New York.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead faade design, detailing and analysis, and participate in testing, fabrication and
construction administration
Liaise with architects, contractors, project managers, owners representatives to meet the
specification and design intent of the faade projects
Collaborate with architects and clients on the value-add building envelope performance,
constructability, and durability
Attend project meetings and take active role in the design and assist phase of the
development
Obtain and analyze technical documents and resolve system design issues
Communicate with clients and project team regarding site observations, test preparation,
procedures, results, and reporting matters
Produce details via hand sketching and using 2D or 3D CAD packages as required
Draft weekly design and workflow reports

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 5 years curtain wall design and engineering experience in New York City area
Strong communication skills, with mastery in building envelope theory including but not
limited to shop drawing, modeling, design development and construction development
Have good knowledge of curtain wall engineering related building codes, standards, and
good practice
Proficiency with AutoCAD 3D, Inventor and other similar parametric software
Mastery in MS Office, Project, Visio, etc.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
