HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL

MEASURE FOR EXACAVATION


PERSONNEL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT- All operatives shall wear all .1
required PPE like safety shoes, safety helmet, hand gloves, dust
.mask, gum boot(during concrete) and safety goggles
SITE SAFETY RULES All operatives shall be informed (via a .2
site induction, tool box talk) of and assured to comply with the CEC's
.site safety rule
SPECEFIC SITE HAZARDS Any specific site hazards (falling, .3
collapsing and hit by equipment or vehicles) shall be identified and
.dealt with prior to excavation work
ACCESS TO THE WORK AREA The provision of safe means of .4
.access to the work area is the responsibility of the site staffs
FALLS INTO EXCAVATION The ground works must be provided .5
and maintained fencing to prevent operatives and others from
.falling into the excavation where required
EXCAVATED SOIL AND DEBRIS Excavated debris and soils shall .6
.be kept away from the excavated trench
WELFARE FASCILITIES CEC will provide access to the welfare .7
.facilities (toilet, drinking water and first aid etc

PRECAST CONCRETE UNITS
Safety procedure will be followed on site under monitoring of .1
.safety engineer/safety officer
All the erection personnel will wear PPE at all times at working .2
area. Any personnel without necessary safety equipment shall not
.be allowed to enter the work area
A competent and experienced erector, crane operator, foreman, .3
.banks man and slinger personnel are able to carry out all functions
Safety during the installation operation, it is important that .4
component is loaded so that unloading shall be carried out in
.appropriate sequence
Components shall be unloaded in such a manner that the stability .5
.of the delivery vehicle is not adversely affected

Prior to erection the site safety engineer/officer inspect the .6


mobile crane, work area including its setting up and duly sign off the
.area for erection
All the erection equipment (chains, sling, belts, D-shackle, U- .7
shackle) shall be thoroughly checked by the foreman before
.commencing erection
All operatives shall be given instructions and training prior to .8
.arriving on the site by safety officer
.No entry below the hoisted precast concrete elements .9
Prior to arriving on the site the work area shall be inspected. .10
This includes the area covered by the radius of a crane from lifting
.off a lorry (or stack) to the final position
After inspection the work area, a sequence of onsite installation .11
shall be agreed with the consultant. This includes the site route and
.the mobile crane capacity
We shall recommend the respective crane operator to inspect .12
the work area before finalizing the crane capacity. NOTE The
manufactures rating capacity for crane refers to its safe load
carrying capacity at a minimum radius and often bears little relation
to its actual capacity at a working radius when lifting precast
.element
Precast concrete elements shall be erected by mobile crane of .13
.adequate load carrying capacity
Panel shall be erected on the footings and shall be supported by .14
.enough supporting jacks

ENVIRONMENT CONTROL
Diesel and petrol for site uses will be kept in closed .1
.vessel and at designated area
Generator will be kept under shed and with protection .2
.and oil tray will be kept beneath the generator
All waste concrete and other wastage materials shall be .3
disposed and dumped at Government allotted area
