eitherofthegheerah(protectivejealousy)oftheyoungmenoftheMuslimummahtowardstheirreligionandtheirProphet(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeupon
him).IsitpermissibletorespondtothosewhodefametheProphet(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim)byinsultingthespeaker,knowingthatIinsulted
oneofthemandsomeofmyrelativesadvisedmenottodothatagain,becauseitwillmakethemdefameandmockhimevenmore,sotheirsinwillbeonme?.
PraisebetoAllaah.
DefamingtheProphet(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim)isakindofkufr.IfthatisdonebyaMuslimthenitisapostasyonhispart,andtheauthorities
havetodefendthecauseofAllaahandHisMessenger(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim)byexecutingtheonewhodefamedhim.Iftheonewhodefamed
himrepentsopenlyandissincere,thatwillbenefithimbeforeAllaah,althoughhisrepentancedoesnotwaivethepunishmentfordefamingtheProphet(peaceand
blessingsofAllaahbeuponhim),whichisexecution.
IfthepersonwhodefameshimisanonMuslimlivingunderatreatywiththeMuslimstate,thenthisisaviolationofthetreatyandhemustbeexecuted,butthat
shouldbelefttotheauthorities.IfaMuslimhearsaChristianoranyoneelsedefamingtheProphet(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim)hehastodenounce
him in strong terms. It is permissible to insult that person because he is the one who started it. How can we not stand up the Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaahbeuponhim)?Itisalsoobligatorytoreporthimtotheauthoritieswhocancarryoutthepunishmentonhim.Ifthereisnoonewhocancarryoutthehadd
punishmentofAllaahandstandupfortheMessenger(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim)thentheMuslimhastodowhateverhecan,solongasthatwill
notleadtofurthermischiefandharmagainstotherpeople.ButifaMuslimhearsakaafirdefamingtheProphet(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim)andhe
keepsquietanddoesnotrespondforfearthatthispersonmaythendefamehimevenmore,thisismistakenthinking.Withregardtotheverse(interpretationof
themeaning):

(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim)first,thenwemustrespondandpunishthemsoasdeterthemfromtheirkufrandenmity.Ifweleavethekuffaarand
atheiststosaywhatevertheywantwithoutdenouncingitorpunishingthem,greatmischiefwillresult,whichissomethingthatthesekuffaarlove.Noattention
shouldbepaidtotheonewhosaysthatinsultingorrespondingtoinsultswillmakehimmorestubborn.TheMuslimhastohaveasenseofprotectivejealousyand
getangryforthesakeofAllaahandHisMessenger(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeuponhim).WhoeverhearstheProphet(peaceandblessingsofAllaahbeupon
him)beinginsultedanddoesnotfeelanyprotectivejealousyorgetangryisnotatruebelieverweseekrefugewithAllaahfromhumility,kufrandobeyingthe
Shaytaan.
