About David Martin, chief consultant and

primary creator of the Brand New Readers series
David Martin was a teacher for eighteen years and an early literacy support specialist for the Vermont Department of
Education. It was while teaching reading to young children that he began to understand the needs of brand-new readers
and began to create short, simple books for his students. These led to the development of the Brand New Readers series.
