Scientific Revolution
In 1517, Martin Luther sparked
the Protestant Revolution with
the publication of The Ninety-Five
Theses. As the Protestant beliefs
became prevalent, cults like that of
the Holy Mother were suppressed
and the supremacy of the Father
became enforced. The world
became a machine set in motion
by God, obedient to his eternal
laws12 and nature was therefore
no longer considered alive.
This paved the way for the
beginning of the Scientific
revolution; potentially attributable
to the publication of Nicolaus
Copernicus On The Revolutions
of Heavenly Spheres and Andreas
Vesalius On The Fabric of the
Human Body, both in 1543.13
Copernicus proposed his
heliocentric model of the solar
system, evidence of a desire to
understand the mechanics of the
universe previously the domain
of God himself.
