Lanco decided to earmark around 150 acres within its Solar SEZ for domestic and foreign
companies interested in setting up Solar manufacturing facilities in India unique advantage for
interested solar projects in India.
This SEZ, located in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh is a perfect plug and play opportunity for
Solar manufacturing with all approvals, land, water and power already available for companies
interested in setting up these units
Initiative supports national solar mission and is in-line with Make-in-India initiative of GOI
Lanco is on course to commission its under construction integrated Solar PV manufacturing project
located in this SEZ by Sept 2016.
First Poly-silicon and Wafer manufacturing facility coming up in India: State of Chhattisgarh on
global Silicon map,
This unit will produce Poly silicon, the starting material for PV value chain, till PV Modules and act
as an anchor unit facilitating development of more Solar PV and ancillary units within this SEZ
In-line with social initiative of governments as well Start of the Solar PV value chain fits into
Make-in-India Policy framework
Anchor Industry role to attract investments in other solar PV manufacturing units within this plug &
play SEZ zone.

Lanco Infratech Limited (LITL), one of Indias leading business conglomerate having businesses in the
domains of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), Power, Solar, Natural Resources and
Infrastructure today announced its subsidiary Lanco Solar Private Limited signed a landmark agreement
with Chhattisgarh Government to bring Chhattisgarh on the global silicon map. As per the MOU inked
today with the Chhattisgarh Government, Lanco Solar will set up 100 MW solar cell manufacturing plant.
For the integrated solar PV manufacturing project which re-started in July 2015, LITL has already done an
investment of Rs 1200 crore to manufacture Poly-Silicon Refining and Wafer Plant and 150 MW module
plant. The Project is being set up at a 250 acre SEZ location in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh under the
National Solar Mission objective of achieving domestic PV cell production of 2200 MW/year and the Make

in India Programme of the Government of India. The salient feature of the project is that it has already
approved and committed water and power availability and all clearances for land and its usage.
The MOU which was signed today by the Chhattisgarh Industry Secretary, Mr Subodh Singh, and Lanco
Solar President, Mr Raj Kumar Roy had the august presence of Dr Raman Singh, the Honble Chief Minister
of Chhattisgarh, Mr L Madhusudhan Rao, Executive Chairman of Lanco, Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Mr.
Vivek Dhand, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Mr. Aman Singh and other Government
officials and notable dignitaries.
Commenting on development and signing an MOU with CG Govt.,
Mr. L Madhusudhan Rao, Executive Chairman, Lanco Infratech said,

participation from foreign players who will not only bring in technological know-how but will also create
employment opportunities. Solar power in India has a promising future. We feel that the location of the
plant is ideal as it is centrally located for entire Indian market. We are elated to be part of the MOU as this
will be a showcase project being the first poly silicon and Ingots & Wafers manufacturing facility coming up
in India which will be bringing the state of Chhattisgarh on global Silicon map. At the same time it plays
anchor Industry role to attract investments in other solar PV manufacturing units within this plug & play SEZ
zone.
Other salient features of the project that will attract investments are Manufacturing units within SEZ
located in State of Chhattisgarh would also have logistic advantage for marketing being centrally located
for entire Indian market. The existing industrial zone within 40 - 80 KM periphery of this SEZ would provide
adequate manpower and sub-vendor base support to manufacturing units in this SEZ. In view of the Make
in India initiative, ambitious Solar development plans and the employment generation potential of this
venture, State of Chhattisgarh and Lanco have decided to jointly invite companies for setting up Solar PV
manufacturing facilities in this SEZ, added Mr. Rao.
