1. Standard OECD data collection on


migration
The OECD Expert Group on Migration
A network of national migration experts named in their personal
capacity (academics, consultants, civil servants)
Exists since mid-1970s
Each expert submits to OECD : (i) An annual report on recent
trends in movements and policies and (ii) A selection of national
migration statistics

The standard OECD data collection (all OECD countries)


Inflows and outflows of foreign population by nationality
Acquisition of nationality by country of former nationality
Detailed permits by nationality
Stock of foreign-born and foreigners population by country of
birth or nationality

Based on this information we can obtain:
Stocks of Asian migrants residing in the OECD by country of origin
Migrant inflows from Asian countries to the OECD
Emigration rates by education level and gender (brain drain)
Labour market outcomes of immigrants by main countries of origin
and destination

Other data sources used for complementary analysis


National labour force survey data
OECD countries population censuses and population registers
UNHCR data on asylum seekers
OECD/UNESCO/EUROSTAT database on foreign students
World Bank data on remittances
