Introduction
With a Gross Domestic Product of over US$ 2.0 trillion, India is the 10th largest economy in the world on
nominal basis and 3rd largest economy in Purchasing Power Parity terms with a total size of US$ 7.277
trillion. The major driver of its economic growth which is estimated to aggregate around 5.6 % for FY
2014, is its huge service sector which formed about 57% of the national GDP in year 2012 and is
currently growing at a rate of around 9% (CAGR), second only to that of China. The industrial
(manufacturing) sector accounts for 26 % of the total GDP and is growing at considerable pace of 7.8 %
CAGR. This growth, in what was considered to be an Agriculture driven economy; is a result of major
reforms made time and again into the economic structure of the country, starting with the famous LPG
(Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization) reforms in 1991 whereby P V Narasimha Rao
government ended the License Raj in the nation to the recent Foreign Direct Investment Policies framed
by the current Narendra Modi government. There have indeed been series of reforms which have put
India in a position of great strength on the world economic stage.
One of the lesser talked about but key ingredient to the boom in Indian Economy has been the
emergence of MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprise) which with the ad of governments,
both at the Union and State level have been benefitted and found their way to growth and have been
one of the major factors in scripting the nations growth story. Currently, there are around 48.8 Million
SMEs, active in the nation.
In the digital age of economy, with the emergence of technological tools; specially one such as
ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning), Data Servers and various platforms which are changing the
businesses around the world and helping them grow at faster rate than ever; the large organization have
always been benefitted thanks to their huge financial power. This has helped them not only to increase
the bottom line by minimizing their costs and creating cost centers by optimizing the use of their
internal resources and capabilities. This, in turn helps them raise barriers to entry for small time players
(appreciating Porters Five Forces Model) and have established some of them almost as a monopoly.
In such a scenario, with the kind of challenges the smaller and medium sized firms face; there is a need
of technological solution that helps these small and medium sized players not necessarily to compete
with the bigger organizations but at least grow in their presence and thereby offer their clients and end
customers with better products and services that deliver benefits.
Here in this piece of project work done on Business Marketing, we have enacted as an organization by
the name of BuizSOFT Pvt Ltd, which intends to create & deliver value for SMEs, particularly for the
medium size manufacturing and marketing firms, which look forward to an ITES solutions such as Cloud
ERP, SaaS (Software As A Service), IaaS (Infrastructure As A Service), PaaS (Platform As A Service).
We sincerely hope that you enjoy going through!

What is As a Service or Cloud ERP?

In a typical ERP development cycle, there are various stages of development as under:

Develop: First of all you develop a standard solution.

Test: You test the basic standard solution at your end.
Release: The package is released with Add-Ons.
Installation: Done at client site, on their systems.
Qualify: Customization to meet client requirements.
Operate: Training clients employees and letting them operate and back your services with
proper support.

While in an As a Service Model, a developer develops standard software, tests it and puts it on the web
(internet) and various tenants use it for their purpose.
In platform and infrastructure as a service model, the service provider hosts the client data and
application on their platforms and infrastructure on web using internet.
These things reduce cost considerably for clients, especially those with limited purchasing power and
provide freedom of choice when it comes to devices and modules.

Market Scenario of ERP:

The worldwide ERP market is dominated by the players like SAP (25%) and Oracle (13%) . It is growing at
relatively slow pace of 2.2% per year. Microsoft holds a total share of 5 %. A major share of around 37%
is held by small time player providing Cloud ERP solutions.

Most of the ERP users are generally the big giants willing to pay a hefty sum of money to get a
sophisticated and customized solution to cater to their information processing and management needs
and therefore opt for on premise ERP model which accounts for a total of 61%. Software as a Service
stands at 14% while Cloud ERP offsite is at 12%.
ERP is not taken by the Small and Medium size firms given their reservation about the product and the
myth that it is a costly affair to afford it. There are also myth like ERP can solve all the problems that an
organization faces and will definitely turn profits for the company.

clients and helps them transit from one technological level to another in a smooth manner.
Competitors:
The major competitors to the solutions availed in the current scenario is SAP Business ByDesign,
Oracles Cloud, Salesforce.coms Cloud Solutions, IBM SMB Solutions, Epicor, Sage etc. The companys
business strategy is to compete in the segment that is large enough for it, in collaboration with one of
the Worlds most valuable, trusted and respected brand Microsoft Inc. The company aims to
differentiate by providing simplified Web Based Cloud ERP Solutions like Microsoft Dynamics AX on
much cheaper prices than its competitors as its prime product. The company additionally provides
services of, Microsoft Dynamics CRM/Marketing/Sales, Office 365, Azure etc. In Platform as a Service,
the company will lock horns with the likes of Amazon Web Services, Salesforce.com while the
competitors in the Infrastructure as a Service market are IBM and Valuepoint etc. The firm intends to
compete in IaaS and PaaS markets, again in collaboration with Microsoft.
Collaborators:
The collaborator is one of the worlds most significant brands Microsoft. The fourth most significant
brand in the world intends to compete with likes of SAP, Oracle, Salesforce.com, Google, Epicor, Sage,
Ramco etc in the field ERP and As a Service markets with its Microsoft Dynamics product line and to
exploit the potential of Indian SMEs would like to have a reliable partner to maximize its gain from
distribution and support services. This is where BuizSOFT with its expertise and specialized workforce
can join hands with the IT giant and take its offerings to the SMEs more effectively and deliver value
more efficiently and thereby create value for both customers and collaborator. The company will also
have to collaborate very closely with various governments, at the center as well as at the state level, the
Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprise and rating agencies like SMERA Ltd to identify its
customers.
Context:
As discussed earlier, India is a fast growing nation with an emerging economy. With a prediction that by
2034, growing at a rate of 9 % , Indian economy will surpass the size of US$ 10 trillion and by 2043 it will

be the biggest economy in the world; a heavy bet can be played on SME units of India. And with 48.8
Million SMEs around the nation which is a number only expected to grow, Indias SME sector provides a
huge opportunity to ITES vendors if they can live up to the market expectations and come up with the
products and services specifically targeted at medium sized players in order to help them grow. Thus, we
can assume that with a pro-business and stable government in the center, huge opportunity exists for
players like BuizSOFT. It is also to be kept in the mind that only a 6% of total SMEs in India have got
themselves a website as of now.
Segment:
The segment that the BuizSOFT caters to is the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. The segment has a
potential of close to 49 Million companies as prospective clients and even a small share of this growing
market is large enough to be capitalized upon.
Target:
Target audiences include the medium size players in the manufacturing and marketing sector who are
willing to grow fast by applying technological tools to manage effectively and efficiently the business
process. The technological parity is a must have attribute in the modern digital age and therefore any
organization that is willing to grow by making use facilities of Cloud ERP, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, given their
limited budget ; can be targeted.
Positioning:
With a clear segment and target audience in the mind, it makes sense to assume an image of a research
driven, innovative, client friendly, technically brilliant ITES service providers that create value for the
clients with sophisticated and efficient software, IT infrastructure and platform solutions hosted on Web
for the client organization.
Value Proposition: Innovative | Responsive | Effective
Point of Parity:
In order to be a leader in the field of As a Service ITES Solutions, BuizSOFT have to have certain services
on parity with its competitors. These services are all the basic features pertaining to cloud ERP. The
company will have to provide timely support to its clients and do the hand holding for the customer for
a long time. Its a general trend in IT industry, particularly in case of ERP service providers to undertake
the responsibility of training and change management in the client organization. Therefore, being a
partner to Microsoft, BuizSOFT will take its offerings to the clients in an effective manner and at the
same time help them to manage the technological change by the means of providing training and
support.

Point of Differentiation:
It is hard to imagine an ERP & As a Service vendor providing the advantages on both cost and benefits
fronts. BuizSOFT creates this kind of value for its client, thanks to its collaboration with Microsoft which
enables it to deliver better performance at much cheaper prices, thereby creating value for clients, both
in terms of cost and benefits.
As we can see that these packages are being provided on web as a service rather than a core product, it
makes sense to apply 8Ps of service marketing framework as the marketing mix. To start with, we deal
with the product:

The product is a sophisticated service offered by one of the greatest tech giant in the world. Microsoft
with its world renown cloud ERP services i.e. Microsoft Dynamics AX R3 2012 Web Version
accompanied by the kind of infrastructure and platform facilities put on offer; helps simplifying the
information flow in the medium scale organizations by effectively and efficiently managing their data at
much lower prices than the typical industry standard and therefore creates value. The highlight here is
the fact that Microsoft Dynamics comes with an environment which is in close fit with the Microsoft
Windows, the most popular operating system and business utility application package among all the
SMEs in India. Its ability to seamlessly integrate clients information and applications into one robust
package and its compatibility with other platforms such as SAP & Oracle etc. At the same time clients
familiarity with the environment of packages such as Office 365 that is derived due to their experience

Place:
Most of the SMEs are situated in Tier 2 and smaller places in India. To start with the business BuizSOFT
will start at two centers which are considered to be business and financial hub for their respective
states; i.e. Indore at Madhya Pradesh and Ahmadabad at Gujarat. The selection of place has been don,
keeping in mind the Macroeconomic Parameters, attitude of the government in power, availability of
labor and land resources, number of Special Economic Zones around the operating region and the kind
of encouragement government and the administration provides to the SMEs to flourish in their states.
On these certain parameters, the two places i.e. Indore and Ahmadabad stand very strong. In addition
their overnight connectivity with financial hubs like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Varodara, Nagpur, Jaipur etc.
is a big plus. Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are two of the fastest growing states in India and are known
for the potential of their SMEs.
Promotions:
The kind of clients BuizSOFT targets, it is important to build its visibility and earn credentials at the
various industrial meets and summits such as NASSCOM ( National Association of Software and Service
Companies), COM IT, CII (Confederation of Indian Industries), MSMExpo and MSME Expo National
Vendor Development Program etc. Therefore, it makes sense for the company to participate in various
exhibitions organized by the aforementioned authorities and entities by leasing out space wherein the
company can put its offering on display and can fetch few clients:

In addition, the company also intends to spend a good sum of money in promoting itself on online
advertising platforms and through promotional activities such as training and demonstration workshops
for medium and even growing small scale firms. The total budget is around Rs. 3, 00, 000.
People:
People in Service Marketing are of utmost importance as your employees are your Brand Endorsers.
Therefore, it makes sense to invest a good enough sum of money to train and develop skill set of the
companys employees. Thus BuizSOFT will hire 5 experienced industry professionals who will further be
training newly hired graduates from various engineering universities around the nation and develop
them as Skilled Consultant, Project Engineers, Research Heads. The companys core value is that of
Innovation, Technical Brilliance, Sustainability, Efficiency & High Standards of Performance which cannot
be achieved without having a totally professional attitude and thus the top management will include

a legacy for the company. This shall be done by hiring correct kind of employees, retaining them by
recognizing their efforts and providing them proper rewards and compensation as well as the other
perks and takeaways.
Process:
To deal in such industry where there is cut throat competition and to make a mark in order to win
clients and to retain them over the years, it is very important for a firm, particularly that deals in Cloud
ERP business and As a Service industry to adopt the best practices of the industry. Therefore, it makes
sense to go for various certifications that confirm organizations compliance with the international
standards. Thus, BuizSOFT intends to comply with ISO 9000:2008 standards of operations and to earn
Six Sigma Certification for Information and Communication services (standards such as ISA-88 , ISA95, ERP,SAP, IEC 62264, B2MML). In addition, being an IT firm BuizSOFT also intends to comply with the
CMM (Capability Maturity Model) of Software Development established by Us Department of Defense,
in long term.

11

The last but not the least, in fact the most crucial of all Ps is the Productivity, which if the
aforementioned Ps are taken care of well, then will go up like anything. It is said that the core and crux
of a service is the service quality and a brand is what it does. Therefore in a bid to achieve technical
brilliance and maximize gain for all the stakeholders, BuizSOFT will remain committed to quality and
ethics by maintaining high standards of performance and behavior. This can be done by abiding by
international standards and law of land (the home country).

Weakness:
Geographical Spread:
The company being a startup is yet to expand and explore new geographies. It is as of now limited to the

However, in future company intends to expand to new geographies first within the nation and then
outside.
Financial Strength:
Company being a startup though enjoys a good financial health but is limited by its resources of money
and thus should take care to invest wisely and ensure returns.

Opportunities:
State of the Industry:
The manufacturing industry in India is growing at a pace of 7.8 % CAGR. This sector accounts for 26 % of
total GDP of the nation. With a vision of making India a global manufacturing hub as an alternative to
China, the government is encouraging investment in manufacturing sector, particularly from medium
size players. The nation has around 49 million SMEs which have some potential to grow.
State of the Economy:
The Indian Economy is back on boom with a growth rate of 5.6% in the last quarter. It is expected to
grow at 6.3 % in the current quarter and thus make way for further growth by attracting more
investment from both country and abroad. According to PWC report published recently, India by 2034
will be a US $ 10 trillion economy, growing at 9% per annum.
Government Policies:
Government with its vision of Make in India is supportive of investments from both nation and abroad,
into both manufacturing and marketing sectors and thus encourages investments into SMEs and FDI.
This shall improve technology, research facilities and infrastructures and thereby create and drive
further growth.

Threats:
Acceptance of Product:
The product on offer i.e. the ERP and As a Service facility may not break out of the myth that most
SMEs live in which is essentially the fact that they perceive ERP to be a high ticket purchase fit for big
organizations and believe that its harder to get returns from it. This can create problems in acceptance
of product.
State of Competition:
The competition is cut throat in the IT industry with vendors going hell for leather and after each other
and igniting price wars. This can adversely affect the business for BuizSOFT.

13
