DESCRIPTION OF THE BUSINESS
THE COMPANY
CONASEG LTDA PROYECTO MUNDO VERDE SA she is one new initiative that
will impel in the City of Santa Rosa de Cabal and Virginia Department of Risaralda
Colombia, as of the month of Julio of 2008. The activities consist of the commercial
Plantation of guadua, CO2 capture, I+D+I, Biocomercio, preindustrialization and
industrialization, production and National commercialization and the laminated
product International, floors, parquet, panels and prefabricated constructions
elaborated of guadua.
The business is disturbed in:
Commercial plantation of 4000 Hectares of guadua:
The guaduales are generating of protective effects on grounds, the biodiversity
and the waters of any river basin, besides to generate I oxygenate and to
absorb carbon dioxide. The forests of guadua have a purifying effect and form a
landscape worthy to contemplate.
Guadua is an important source of raw material for the industry and the
agricultural sector.
The Market CO2 Mechanism of Desarrollo Limpio (MDL):
The characteristics of environment of the country they allow to reduce and to
absorb the CO emissions2 established by the Convention of Climatic Change and
the Protocol of Kyoto, therefore the industrialized countries can fulfill their
commitments of gas reduction by means of the certificate purchase from reduction
to other countries.
The potential sector for the reduction and absorption of emissions in Colombia is
forest. The objectives of the forest projects consist of the recovery of forests with

strategic importance for the production of environmental goods and services, and
the reforestation and rehabilitation of degraded tropical zones by means of the
creation of agroforestales systems and forestry.
The development of the projects could represent a reduction and potential
absorption of emissions of 70 million tons of CO2, 30 million of which they
represent sales of credits by reduction of emissions during the periods of the
accreditation of the projects (between seven and veintin years). Starting off of the
present price of the market of US$ 3,5 for US$ 7 by ton, these credits could get to
generate around US$ 105 to US$ 210 million in that period of time.
In rodales of guadua it is possible to be found in average approximately 560 tons of
CO2 in the first 50 cm of depth of the ground. The carbon content in the ground
tends to increase when the ecological conditions of altitude and precipitation are
greater. In addition, the advantage of the guaduales does not affect of negative
form the edfico carbon content; on the contrary an suitable handling of the
guaduales could bring socioeconomic benefits as as much environmental.
A year after established a plantation an approximated increase of 4 tons of CO
appears2 by hectare in the first 50 cm of depth of the ground. The aerial and
superficial part of Guadua angustifolia it can fix 54.3 tons of CO2 by hectare in a
period of 6 years. If it is assumed that the increase of edfico carbon continues with
a rate like the found one for the first year of established the plantation, in 6 years a
carbon storage would be had in the ground of 24 tons of CO 2; with which a
plantation of guadua can fix 78.3 tons of CO 2 in a period of 6 years from its
establishment. Therefore, guadua is an important species for the reforestation, as
much for the restoration of areas degraded like for the benefit of environmental
services.
Industrialization:
The company will develop the productive process for the sizing,
lateado, cepillado, preserved, dried, machimbrado and the elaboration of
laminates, floors, parquet, panels of guadua for the sector of the construction,
furniture and crafts (To see productive process).

The economic results of Colombia confirm the consolidation of the country like
one of the most stable and attractive destinies for the foreign investment in
region. The numbers of growth come as much accompanied from a rise in the
confidence levels of the consumers as of the industralists, to which they have
contributed the improvements in the conditions of security in the national territory in
the last four years.
The foreign investment and the exports continue showing results
positives, first with an amount by US$2.448 million (m) during the first one
semester of 2006, whereas to June of the present year goods were exported by
a total of US$11.537 m. This represents an increase of 13.2% with respect to
same period of 2005.
International Monetary Fund (the IMF) gave by finalized a period of seven years in
agreements of stand by with the Colombian government. The balance of this
process is positive and, in agreement with the own analyses of the IMF, it
contributed to fortify the Colombian economy and as opposed to to improve its
capacity of answer possible adverse shocks at international level.
The good economic situation of the country, supported by the fiscal stability and
monetary, it is reflected in the foreign investment and the industrial production,
which
it has fortified the penetration capability in the international markets,
resulting in an increase in the exports of the country.
The growth of the GIP surpasses all the prognoses.
The Colombian economy grew in 2006 the 6,8% and, in the first trimester of this
year, 8%. The investment, on the other hand, has been four years growing to rates
of two digits and, like proportion of the GIP, 20s could will upper reach east year the
level from second half of the years. The low interest rates and the abundance of
liquidity in the economy contributed to this process, altogether with specially
favorable external conditions and the improvement in the levels of confidence in the
country.
This result was impelled by the behavior of the following sectors:
construction (17.3%), commerce, restaurants and hotels (8.9%), transport,

storage and communications (10.3%), and manufacturing industry (6.7%).

From the point of view of the final demand, the accumulated behavior to June
of 2006 it presented/displayed a growth of 8.5%, explained by an increase of
investment in 29,7%, with positive variations with respect to he himself period of
previous year in: civil machinery and equipment (24.7%), works (25.2%), equipment
of
transport (22.5%) and construction and constructions (12.6%). Also, the
consumption
end grew 4.5%, explained by the increase of consumption of the Government
(2.2%) and of
final consumption of the homes (5.3%): In real terms the exports
3.9% grew.
Latin America: Main Economic Indicators

Forest industry and of Madera Manufactures

With approximately 64 million hectares of natural resources, that is to say, 56% of
total the continental area of the country, the potential of the forest industry in
Colombia are enormous. Of those 64 million hectares, according to the Institute of
Studies of Hydrology, Meteorology and Medio Ambiente (IDEAM), the amount of
earth apt for forest plantations is considered in 25 million hectares.
It is possible to be anticipated that other three million hectares, most of which they
are cultivated at the present time with untenable agricultural practices, also could
be incorporated in next the twenty-five years. In addition, the particular climatic
conditions of the country, and their location in the tropic, without stations; they make
possible higher rates of biomass production that those that registers the rest of
nontropical countries.
The government policies promote and stimulate the forest development through
diverse programs that they look for to improve the productivity of the sector. The
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has stimulated the creation of a

nucleus of forest plantations in seven regions. Additionally, the national centers of

investigation have developed improved seeds that produce more high returns than
those that are used at the moment in the reforestation. Between the examples of
these research programs they are counted: the Program Investigation in Semillas
Forestales Nativas (INSEFOR) and the Strategic Plan for the Genetic Improvement
of the National Corporation of Investigations and Fomento Forestal (CONIF).
In addition, 2000 new the National forest legislation and Plan of Forest
Development stipulate clear lines of action and promote the forest activities through
different mechanisms, including the following incentives of investment:
A deduction of 10% in the tax of rent for the development of new forest
plantations.
Exemptions to the tax of rent for those activities that undertake forest plantations,
including guadua, and for investments in new sawmills.
Exemptions to the tax to the sales on products like wood in mass (in rolls or
round), wood in blocks and seeds of trees.
The Certificate of Incentivo Forestal (CIF) rembolsa a percentage of the costs
associated to the plantation and handling of forestry activities, during the first five
years of the project.
The National Government promulgated the forest law, with the intention of
establishing clear attachment lines for the investment in the sector.
Two important productive chains have been developed around the forest activities:
Wood wood, Furniture and Manufactures : manufacturing industry of the
wood, furniture and accessories.
The centers of activity of these chains are located mainly in Bogota, Medelln, Cali,
Popayn, Grass and the Atlantic coast. In Colombia there are 290 establishments
concentrated in the manufacture of furniture; these use to near 12,300 people. The
subsector that contributes more to the production is the one of furniture for the
home, with a 63% of the total production; it follows the subsector to him of furniture
for office, with a 37%.
The industry of furniture and wood accessories has registered a certain dynamism
in the last years. Whereas in 2000 it represented a 0,2% of the industrial GIP, in
2002 that percentage it ascended to 0,8%. The labor productivity of the sector also
has improved: in 2000, the added value generated by each employee in the
industry of furniture and accessories era of COP$ 15 million; in 2002 that value it
was of COP$ 23 million.

Colombia is a net exporter of wood, furniture and manufactures of wood. In 2004,

the trade balance of the sector was positive: the value of the exports was of US$ 78
million and the one of the imports of US$ 63 million.
Natural Madera products
Colombia has an enormous potential in the commercial use of the wood. In
agreement with the National Department of Planning, in 2002 the area reforested
total in the country was of 500,000 hectares; 40% of these were areas of industrial
and commercial reforestation. The wood consumption in Colombia is approximately
of 20 million cubic meters to the year; of these, 20% are destined to the industrial
sector.
The main species of trees that are used for the commercial reforestation in
Colombia are: pine, guadua, cedar, walnut, cypress, wall-plate, eucalyptus, ceiba,
rivet and theca.
