NOV 17, 2015 MEETING MINUTES

In attendance:
Foundation Trustees: Hal Steinbrenner, Dennis Alvarez, Jack Amor, Bob Blanchard, Trudy Carey, Joe
Garcia, Carlos Menendez, Roger Robson, Armando Roche, Dr. Kevin Scott, Delilah Solomon,
Christina Steinbrenner, Joe Tomaino and Lavern Wilson.
Corporate Board Members: Marc Spencer, Vic Holcomb, Scott Jacobsen, Eddie Gomez, Larry Bevis,

Welcome:
- After some time for Corporate Board Members and Trustees to meet and interact, Corporate Board
Chairman, Marc Spencer called the meeting to order at 4:15pm. He thanked Hal and Christina
Steinbrenner, Jenny Swindal and the New York Yankees for hosting the meeting and reception that
will follow.
- Marc introduced and asked the group to welcome new Corporate Board Members Holly Grogan and
Col. Reggie Godbolt. Marc then introduced Vick Anzalone of Where Love Grows who had the Jr
Chefs cooking at the reception that followed the meeting. He then called on Foundation Trustee Board
Chairman Dennis Alvarez.
- Dennis reiterated the thank you greetings to the Steinbrenner Family and New York Yankees and to
Marc Spencer for his leadership of the Corporate Board and then then introduced the group to the three
new Trustees: Dr. Kevin Scott, Lavern Wilson, and Joe Tomaino.
Consent Agenda:
Marc Spencer then asked for a motion to accept the Consent Agenda (included were: September 10, 2015
Meeting Minutes, September 2015 Financials, May 19, 2015 Foundation Meeting Minutes, September
2015 Foundation Financial Report, Conflict of Interest Policy, and the Boys & Girls Clubs Pension Plan
Resolution). A motion to accept the consent agenda was made by Vic Holcomb and seconded by Jeff
Ortmeier and passed unanimously.
Resource Development Update:
- Marc thanked Collin Jotham and the Steak Dinner Committee as well as Honoree Trudy Carey for
their work in making the Sept 29th event a success.
- Following a recap by Chris Roederer on the Nov 4th Taste of Kentucky in South Tampa event
which netted $60k, Marc Spencer and Chris Letsos presented event co-chairs Chris Roederer and
Adam Diasti (who hosted the event at his home) with a gift for their hard work.
- Marc shared on behalf of Ryan Skubis that everyone is invited to the Robert Half Christmas Party
for the kids on Dec 12th. Details forthcoming.
- Glenn Permuy shared that the Great Futures Breakfast is less than a month away and the push is for
all Table Captains to get their attendee names and email addresses to Jenny Yingling
(jyingling@bgctampa.org) by Dec 4th or earlier. He thanked those that already submitted their
attendee names and indicated that nearly $400k has been collected in sponsorship and ads for the
event to date. He thanks Dream Makers Sheriff David Gee, The New York Yankees and Jeff and
Penny Vinik.

Resource Development Update Continued:
- Golf Committee Co-Chair Scott Jacobson reported on the Jan 15, 2016 Golf Challenge and that there
is still room for one more two person team as well additional sponsors. He asked that if anyone had
22 of any item to go in the golfer goody bags to please consider making those available by
contacting Glenn Permuy (gpermuy@bgca.org 678-641-3769). Items such as shirts, golf towels,
golf balls, shirts, hats, visors, umbrellas, wine, gift certificates, etc., would be greatly appreciated.
The goal is to raise $60,000.
- Marc Spencer reported that the Yankee Lunch is set for March 22, 2016 and that information is
already coming out on this.
Roger Robson gave an update on the Heritage Club. He thanks the 30 members of the Club, and
asked that everyone reference the materials in the packets. He stressed the need to act on this as soon
as possible and the ease by which this is possible. He offered his personal help if anyone had
questions.
Board Development Committee Chairman Chris Roederer reported that the committee is seeking a
motion to have the board accept Keith Harris, VP of HR at Tampa Bay Lightning as a new Corporate
Board Member. A motion to that effect was made by Joe Garcia and seconded by Vic Holcomb and
passed unanimously.
Chris Letsos shared the Presidents Report and provided an updated on the organization including an
overview of the Be the Spark Strategic Plan as well as the year-to-date dashboard and organization
scorecard. All targets are being met or exceeded.
Special Presentations and report were made by Marlene Spalten, President and CEO of the
Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. She presented a $100k check to Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa
Bay for the Lacoochee Club and comments were also made by Foundation Trustee Bob Blanchard
who started an endowment for that Club and he recognized the great work of Ron Deese who
accompanied him and Marlene for a photo opportunity.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America Chief Operating Officer - Lorraine Orr shared an overview of the
National organization and the parallel work that is being done in Tampa Bay as the Be the Spark
Strategic Plan mirrors that of the National organization. She thanked the boards for their good work
and indicated that Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay was among the top 30 organizations out of 1149
Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide who collectively operate over 4200 Clubs and reach 4 million youth
each year.
A motion by Armando Roche was seconded by Joe Garcia to adjourn the meeting and move next
door to the celebration reception honoring (1) Heritage Club Members, (2) new President Chris
Letsos and (3) retired President Brad Baumgardner. The motion passed unanimously and a wonderful
reception hosted by the Steinbrenner Family and the New York Yankees followed from 4:50pm until
6:30pm
