METHOD OF BORED PILING WORK

BOTANICA RESIDENCE PROJECT

1. Preliminary
In connection with wash bore work for Botanica Residence, herewith we submit the
Implementation of wash bore work to be reviewed and approved.
2. Technical Data:
Diameter of Pile
Depth

= 600, 800 & 1000 mm.

= +/- 32 m

3. Equipment:
- Drilling Machine
- Service crane 35 Ton
- Welding Machine
- Cutting Torch
- Steel Plate
4. Site Preparation
Before start of piling work, some of preparation has to be executed as follow:
- Prepare the enter permit including badge or id card.
- Prepare the working permit.
- Surveying work.
- Prepare shop drawing.
- Stock Yard.
- Setup up the container as site office.
- Setup all of equipment including Drilling rig, Crane Service, etc.

5. Surveying Work.
Equipment:
- Theodolite.
- Measure Tape.
- Marking stick/Paint/Color Pen.
- Calculator.
Before starting the piling work, prior to make the pile position or benchmark, from the master
point that approved by Consultant . Surveyor should measure the pile coordinate from the master

point. To make the pile coordinate will use theodolite and measure tape and calculated base on
distance and degree system.

6. Stock Yard.
Material will be kept on the stock yard before executing drilling work.
7. Site Office and Warehouse.
Site office and warehouse will be made from container dimension 20 feet and will be modified as
Office and Warehouse.
8. Drilling Work

Setup the drilling equipment

Move the drilling machine to the drilling point
Install the Kelly bar and auger, then check the verticality o the kelly bar.
Start the predrilling work with auger until 3m depth.
Install the steel casing with service crane and push the casing into the ground by hydraulic
jack from the drilling machine
Continue the drilling work with auger and remove the soil from the hole by bucket bor
If the drilling work pass the hard lens, then change the auger with the rock auger / core drill.
Continue the drilling work as depth as specification.

9. Installation of reinforcement
The reinforcement cage will be manufactured according to the drawing. Spot welding may be used
to give the cage adequate rigidity and to avoid any danger during the lifting operation. Whenever
possible cut to length reinforcement bars will be used to avoid unnecessary lapping. The
reinforcement cage sections will be connected to one cage at the borehole using spot welding or
wire rope clips. Long cages have to be supported during the lifting operation.
Circular concrete spacers or steel spacers will be used to provide adequate concrete cover as per
drawings. After assembly to its full length the cage will be lowered into the borehole to its final
depth. The spacers will be placed at location as indicated on the drawings.
The minimum concrete cover shall not be less than 60 mm (Measured from soil surface to
outermost rebar or as per specification).
10. Concreting
Tremie pipes will be installed into the pile bore to the pile toe. The tremie pipes will be internally
free of any old and hardened concrete as to allow for a smooth concreting procedure. O-rings may
have to be inserted to the joints of the tremie pipes to ensure adequate water tightness.

Shortly prior to the start of the concreting procedure Styrofoam or plastic Ball or another type of
plug shall be inserted into the tremie funnel to separate the fresh concrete from water. The tremie
pipe shall be lifted from the pile bottom to allow the free flow of the concrete out of the tremie
pipe.
Concreting shall only commence once a sufficient number of loaded mixer trucks are available on
site ready to discharge the concrete and all other trucks are confirmed for arrival. The slump of the
concrete shall be 18 2 cm before discharge into the pile or as per specification.
The concrete may be retarded to ensure that setting does not commence within four hours of
arrival on site. A retardation of 4 hours is recommended to avoid technical problems during
concreting and extraction of casing. Once the concrete pouring has been completed, the temporary
casing will be withdrawn by crane.
11. Sequence of the drilling work
If the concreting work for point 1 is finish, then continue to drilling the point 3 or 4, this mean to
preventing the bored pile of point 1 from the damaged, so drilling work to point 2 will be done if
the bored pile of point 1 is ready.
