Meeting of the Second National Negro Congress (NNC), Philadelphia on October 15, 1937. The backdrop banners include Lincoln, John Brown,
Richard Allen and Frederick Douglass. The NNC was created in 1935 at Howard University with the goal of uniting black and white workers and
intellectuals to pressure the New Deal administration for labor and civil rights. It was affiliated with the Communist Party.
