Total fertility rate (TFR) is the average number of children that would be born to a woman over her lifetime. The National Health Policy (1990, 1997, 2001) Population Policy 2002 Causes of Rapid Population Growth High Birthrate Low Death rate Migration Emigration Immigration Comparison of Population Growth Trends Worldwide Japan: Japan is the 1st South East Asian Country to experience in reproductive behavior with below replacement level fertility by 1960. China: Campaign and Policies set ambitious targets and strictly enforced at all levels of administration to reduce population growth rate. Korea and Taiwan: Individual decision making to restrict fertility Provision of Family Planning information Subsidized services FACT: Although at first there are fewer children to feed, clothe, and educate. However, Population aging also depresses the growth of government revenues.  Technological Progress and Population No relation between Population Growth Rate and Economic Development. Population control policies/laws disproportionately impact poor who have less survival chance.
