Once there was a giant who lived in a big house with a beautiful garden.
He never let anyone enter his garden. Whenever he was away, children would go
there secretly to play.
One winter, the giant went away for a few days. When he came back and
saw children playing in his garden, he chased them away angrily. The next day,
he built a high wall around the garden.
When the children stopped coming to the garden, the trees and flowers
were very sad that they began to wither. No birds came to sing there anymore.
The giant was very lonely. One morning, he heard children playing outside
his garden. He looked over the wall and saw spring everywhere, but in his
garden, it was still winter. The giant realized that he had been selfish and was
very sorry for what he had done. He invited the children in and allowed them to
play in his garden from then on.
