Understand and calculate all types of power

Grading Policy
Attendance & Participation
Regular attendance & participation are necessary for success in any
engineering course. You need to be in class daily and participate. In each
class you need to sign the attendance sheet to signify attendance &
participation. You are expected to be in class on time and not leave early.
You are responsible for material and announcements given during class.
Homework
Five homework sets and their due dates are shown in the tentative
schedule below
Absolutely no late homework will be accepted. If you have to
miss a Monday class make sure you email or fax your homework.
Missed homework will get a grade of 0
Homework will be accepted only if:
o Worked on engineering computation paper, front page only, and
sequentially
o Each problem starts on a new sheet
o On top of each page state the problem number and day
problem worked on
o The homework handout posted on the Blackboard (or handed to
you in class) is stapled on top of the homework package
Quizzes/Test
There will be two (2) quizzes, one test, and the final exam. The dates for
quizzes/test/final are shown in the tentative schedule. Absolutely no make
ups will be given.
Final Exam
The final exam is scheduled on Tuesday, April 26, at 4:40 pm; it is mandatory
and cannot be rescheduled.

Other Policies
Teaching & Learning Style Here is how I view this:

In class I introduce a topic with the necessary theory and math

In class I solve some examples all the way through numerical
answers
I post the lectures on Blackboard
Outside of class you study from the book/class notes
Solve examples from book check your answers
Solve problems from book check your answers
Solve HW problems assigned you may or may not be able to
check the answers

When solving real life problems in engineering you have no answers to

compare the correctness of your answers. BUT you still need to be
confident about the correctness of your answers. I do not post solutions in
the Blackboard because you need to learn to validate your own numerical
answers. However, I encourage you to see me in the office (or contact me
via email/Skype) with any question you may have about solving a problem.
Academic Misconduct The penalty for any act of academic misconduct may
range from a failing grade for the work in question to a failing grade for the
course. In addition, cases with academic misconduct may be referred to the
University Judiciaries who may impose sanctions such as suspension or
expulsion from the university. Students have the right to appeal academic
sanctions through the grade appeal process.
Attendance Attendance will affect your grade (see attendance & participation in
grading policy). Makeup tests will be given only for verifiable/documented
emergencies.
Tardiness I pledge to be in class on time and I expect you to do the same
Special Needs Students with special needs are kindly requested to present to me
a letter of accommodation from the Office of Student Accessibility Services.
Please inform me about any special accommodation during the first or second
week of the semester.

Classroom Privacy Audio or video recording is not allowed.

Blackboard Check your email and Blackboard daily for course related
announcements and assignments.
I encourage you to see me for any question/concern you may have. I have open
door policy stop by my office anytime. If the door is open walk in. It is my
intention to give 100% in my efforts to help you, and I expect the same from you.
GOOD LUCK!
