Punjab Government has announced to set up bio-ethanol refin


in the state to tackle the menace of wheat and paddy str
burning.

In this regard, state government has inked MoU with consorti


of Beta Renewables, Novozymes and CVC India Infrastruct
Pvt. Ltd. for project estimated worth Rs. 950 crore during
Progressive Punjab Investor Summit, 2015.

Union Government appoints Najib Shah as Chairman of CBEC

Union Government has appointed senior IRS officer Najib Sh


as the chairman of Central Board of Excise and Customs(CBE

His appointment was confirmed by Appointments Committee


Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He will have tenure of 2 years i.e. till March 2017, when


attains the age of superannuation 60 years. He was serving
acting Chairman of the board after retirement of Kaushal Srivastava in July 2015.

Mr Shah is Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) officer of 1979 ba
Prior to this appointment he was working as Member in the CBEC board since May 20
Earlier, he had served as Director General of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI)

About Central Board of Excise and Custom (CBEC)

CBEC is the nodal government agency on Indirect Taxes responsible for administer
Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax and Narcotics in India.

Established in 1855 by the then British Governor General of India as Custom

Central Excise department. Thus, it is one of the oldest government departments


India.

Currently it operates and functions under the aegis of the Department of Revenue
Union Ministry of Finance.
