Examination

Although all practitioners who write the AMC MCQ will need to demonstrate their knowledge in
this area, those who will be specializing in this field will need to be even more proficient. Topic
that require particular attention here include but are not limited to pregnancy-related
conditions, amenorrhea, breast feeding, premature delivery, prenatal screening for conditions
such as Downs Syndrome, endometrial cancer, gestational diabetes and hypertension,
ovulation and a range of postpartum conditions and their causes and treatments.
4. Psychiatry

Topics that will need to be thoroughly studied here include a range of psychiatric conditions
such as ADHD, antisocial personality disorder, anxiety disorder, autism spectrum disorder,
bipolar disorder, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, dementia, eating disorders, insomnia, psychotic
depression, psychosis, PTSD, schizophrenia, general substance abuse, Tourettes Syndrome
and many others even if the surgeon is not going to be specializing in any of these.
5. Surgery
Medical professionals will need to ensure that they are thoroughly proficient in a range of
areas that fall under the surgery category before writing the AMC MCQ as well. Some of these
include abdominal trauma, atrial fibrillation, appendicitis, sprains and fractures, circumcision,
various forms of cancer, dehydration, diabetes and its related complications, ulcers,
anesthesia, colic, surgical complications, vitamin and mineral deficiencies and nerve injuries.
6. Preventative Medicine and Community Health (PMCH)
Here, a range of conditions will need to be studied such as cancer screening and treatment,
disease outbreak and treatment, bleeding disorders, care of the elderly, alternative medicine,
sexually transmitted diseases, obesity, contagious diseases and treatment protocols thereof,
vitamin supplements, terminal illness care and many more.
