JOB DETAILS Type of Business: Warehouse and Distribution / E-Commerce

Position Warehouse Operative

:
Job Description:
E-com:
The e-com operation processes customer orders placed over the internet. The
customers order arrives via goods in where agency colleagues unload the trailers the
goods have arrived on. Once unloaded the goods are moved to pre-scan.
Pre Scan has two functions, one to scan all hanging garments (shirts, dresses, t-shirts
etc) and then folded into Matalan bags ready for packing, the other function is to scan all
boxed items i.e. shoes, jeweller and crockery etc. in both cases once an item has been
scanned the system creates a collation label which helps bring customer orders
together.
Once items have been scanned they are moved to posting whereby agency colleagues
reading the collation label place the goods into the appropriate totes to bring the order
together.
From posting the goods are moved to packing whereby items are packed into the most
suitable box, placed on a conveyor and finally unloaded into the back of the delivery
trailers.
Retail:
Retail is basically stock holding and replenishment for a large number of Matalan retail
stores throughout the UK. The process is very similar to e-com in that goods arrive via
goods inwards and go through pre scan boxed and hanging. The goods are then moved
to bins ready to be picked.
The pick team using electronic terminals then pick the clothing, homeware from the bins
and move them to dispatch ready for loading onto the trailers.
Regardless of which site is worked on each agency colleagues will need to have a good
level of English and be flexible for the operation needs especially during sale periods.
Here have been major changes to the way in which one of the sites works and the
people you send must be
prepared to work on either shift.
