My family and I are looking forward to heading to Niagara Falls for the DRC, where I hope to speak with you
personally. Anne and I will be bringing our young sons Cameron and Conor; Kate has a big exam at school. My
mom and sisters, Margaret and Kathleen, will be coming as well - they could not pass up the chance to visit the place
where we lived as a young family years ago. We are very excited about the conference.

I am grateful to the members of your Executive Committee for the thorough and fair interview they afforded me on
April 10th regarding my candidacy for Attorney General. In that meeting, I made several pledges that I would like to
share with you in advance of the conference.

First, I pledged to commit substantial resources to campaign across the length and breadth of our rural counties. I
have already taken a major step to fulfill that pledge; you will see tangible proof of my commitment to Upstate in the
near future. As you may have heard, Anne and I have just made a personal commitment of $2 million to the
campaign. A significant percentage of that $2 million will be devoted to our campaign efforts in the counties
comprising the DRC – an area that is indispensable to my being selected as our party’s nominee on September 14th.

Second, I pledged to help our party prepare for a tough general election campaign, particularly Upstate. Buoyed by
the positive reception I have received from State Committee members over the past few months, I intend to
participate in the convention and work hard to win the 25% of the vote that guarantees a spot on our party's ballot.
But as a first time candidate, I cannot presume to pass that threshold. I must prepare to petition if necessary.

Third, I pledged to circulate petitions in all eleven of the Congressional Districts in which a rural county is found –
every single one. Moreover, I will concentrate my petition gathering on party building in those regions and Districts
where our congressional and state legislative candidates face the toughest races. You will see my campaign upstate
early and often this election year.

Finally, I pledged to campaign vigorously and extensively Upstate this Fall. Not via in and out airport hops, but with
sustained campaigning throughout Upstate, geared to helping you where you need it most. I believe that my
background and legal record can be a shield - and if need be, a sword - for our party in this general election. You can
deploy this former Navy Captain to the most treacherous political waters facing you in the Fall campaign. I am
committed to bring real and lasting reform to Albany, bolstered by fellow Democrats committed to a specific
governing agenda centered on honesty, transparency, accountability and economic growth.

I write this letter so that each voting member of DRC has my commitment in writing and on the record. I ask to be
held to these pledges. Thank you for your service to the Democratic Party and to the State of New York.

Sincerely,

Sean Coffey
