Term Position - Animal Biology
The Department of Biology at the University of Saskatchewan is seeking to fill a term teaching
position in Animal Biology, at the Assistant Professor level commencing July 1, 2016 for up to five
years, pending satisfactory performance.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in organismal biology with specific teaching expertise in animal
physiology, development, and vertebrate and invertebrate diversity. The successful candidate will
have current knowledge in these teaching areas and be able to provide leadership in curriculum
development and pedagogical initiatives within the Department. The appointment will consist of only
teaching and collegial service duties. However, there is an opportunity to develop research
collaborations with existing faculty in the Department, especially in conjunction with the supervision
of undergraduate research projects.
The Department of Biology is a diverse department of 22 faculty, 300 declared undergraduate
students, and over 80 graduate students. The department has research and teaching strengths in
cell and molecular biology, ecology, and environmental sciences, offering BSc degrees in Biology,
Environmental Biology, and Agricultural Biology. We also teach within the Aboriginal Student
Achievement Program, an initiative aimed at improving success and retention of first year
indigenous students.
The College of Arts & Science offers a dynamic combination of programs in the Sciences, Social
Sciences, and Humanities and Fine Arts. The College has 325 faculty, including 14 Canada
Research Chairs, and over 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students. We emphasize faculty and
student research, interdisciplinary programs, community outreach and international opportunities.

Salary Bands (July 1, 2016 June 30, 2017):


Assistant Professor

$93,293 (floor) to $112,109 (CDI ceiling)
