Personal Injury Attorney | Law Firm Case Histories
Several years ago I was contacted by a client in Roanoke, Virginia about an accident that had occurred while he was working for a utility company in Denton,
Maryland, on Maryland's eastern shore. He had injured his shoulder and neck. Unfortunately, he had only months earlier injured the same body parts when he was
injured in a motor vehicle accident. As you can imagine, the insurance compnay denied his claim. I agreed to represent him. After a contested hearing, he was
awarded wage loss benefits while he was out of work recovering from his injuries. After surgery, he was released to modified (light) duty work. He was unable to find
such work on his own, so I petitioned for him to be afforded vocational rehabilitation benefits. Vocational rehabilition is a service that must be requested from the
insurance company in order to have the insurer provide the injured worker with help finding a new line of work. I demanded that the insurer either retrain my client
or find him work within his existing skill set. The insurer was unable to find him suitable, gainful employment. As a result, I was able to obtain an award of over
$150,000.00 in permanent disability benefits for my client. As a result, the insurance company was forced to resume vocational rehabilitaion to help my client find a
reasonable job.
A dentist sought my aid with regard to her wrist pain. She was ultimately diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists. The insurance company denied her
claim. I worked hand in hand with her doctor to obtain the medical evidence we needed to take her case to court. After a contested trial we proved that her carpal
tunnel syndrome was the result of years of work as a dentist. She was awarded medical benefits and lost wages. We ultimately settled her case for $240,000.00.
We successfully litigated a slip and fall case where our client stepped out of an elevator on a wet floor while leaving her job. We proved that the building maintenance
company had mopped the floor and failed to adequately warn our client of the dangerous condition. As a result, she received over $250,000.00.
In 2011, our office sucessfully litigated a case for a man and a woman injured due to the negligence of a drunk driver. Our clients' vehicle was struck by a drunk driver

who fled the scene of the accident. She was later apprehended by the police, who documented her condition and charged her with driving under the influence of
alcohol. We helped our clients obtain reasonable and necessary medical treatment. Upon completion of our clients' treatment we attempted to settle the case with
the insurance compnay for the drunk driver. A fair settlement was not offered. As a result, a lawsuit was filed. Prior to the cases proceeding to trial we were able to
secure $157,500.00 for our clients.
From 2009 through 2011, we represented a nurse injured while in the scope and course of her employment with a local hospital. She lost the full use of her hand due
to the accident. After years of treatment the doctor opined that there was nothing more that could be accomplished. We worked to help find her a new job. As a
result of the accident we obtained an award of more than $90,000.00 for her permanent injuries.
Over my years of practice, I have represented many local athletes including professional football and professional hockey players in their claims against their
employers for injuries sustained in the course of their employment. I have successfully litigated cases in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virgina
for these athletes. I was instrumental in the fight against the Washington Redskins to prevent the team from permanently denying workers' compensation benefits
to its players injured in the course of their employment with the team. I litigated the case of a former player against the team to the Virginia Supreme Court, wherein
the Court held that the player was entitled to benefits and the team had to pay my client benefits for his disabling and permanent injuries. I also successfully litigated
a case for a hockey player, who was injured in a fight during a game. The team defended the case based on the fact that the fight was a violation of the rules. As a
result of years of hard work by the injured player and my office, we persuaded the courts that the fight was part of the game and as a result the player was awarded
wage loss, medical and eventually permanecy benefits for his injuries.
