Scholarly Research in Association Management Grants Program

ASAE Foundation has a long-standing history of conducting and promoting research that advances
knowledge in association management and nonprofit leadership. The Foundation is looking to contribute to
a complementary body of knowledge produced through research conducted by investigators in the
academic community and academic practitioner (association management professionals) collaborations.
To that end, the Foundation established the Scholarly Research in Association Management Grants.
The Scholarly Research in Association Management Grants program provides awards in the range of
$7,500 to meritorious proposal addressing research questions relevant to nonprofit membership and
member-based associations. Possible/past topics include leadership, decision to join/decision to volunteer,
non-profit associations, decision-making, membership, governance, organizational change, program
evaluation, readiness, program implementation, best practices, organizational culture and climate.
The proposals are evaluated through a peer-review process, during which reviewers will consider the
following criteria: theoretical application, approach, significance, impact, innovation, project personnel,
organizational commitment, and dissemination plan.
The funding cycle for each award is 12-months; however, applications for Continuation of Funding will be
accepted for up to one additional cycle. The intent of the program is to support research efforts, and
therefore, proposals for career development, travel*, and product or resource development will not be
accepted.
The program is intended to support research activities of those working (or matriculating) in an academic
community, such as academic faculty, students, and research interns, or those association management
professionals engaged in collaborative research with individuals in the academy. ASAE-membership is not
a condition of award but is strongly encouraged.

Application deadline: May 15, 11:59 p.m. EST
