Understands ones own interests & goals & enjoys working independently

This is designated time to work on different

elements of the Graduation Diploma. Make
the most of these opportunities!

STUDY SKILLS

SCIENCE PROJECT

Refer to the links on our class blog under the

label Study Skills. Write yourself a study action
plan in preparation for the Science test on
Matter on Thursday in week 11. Your action plan
should include: how you plan to break up your
study time between now and week 11; What key
points should you study e.g. headings (this will
help you to make sure you only study the
necessary information); and how you plan to
block out distractions.

Spend some time on your

science project in preparation
for our Matter Expo in week
11. Make sure you constantly
refer back to the task sheet (in
your UOI book and on our class
blog!) to make sure you are on
the right track.

We have now spent some time on the Goal

Setting component for the Graduation
Diploma in class. Take home your journals
to type up your goals and present them
neatly in a nice, clean digital format (I
suggest Microsoft Word). You will include a
copy in your Homework books & in your
Graduation Diploma Folders.

STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!

I want to find out what you have learned
about Matter. Testing is one form of
assessment used regularly in high school so
you will therefore be sitting a test. Please study
any notes you have about Matter carefully.
You will be tested on the information outlined
in your notes in your UOI books as well as the
handouts that I have given you (glued into
your UOI books).

LEARNING (parroting them off
in order and in the wrong order,
writing them down many times
etc) some times tables of your
choice (that you are not stong
with). I will be testing them
across the next 2 weeks
beginning with the easiest
tables. Who will be our first class
Smartie?!

Last week you submitted your Design Brief

in draft form to me for Home Learning. If I
have given you som e suggestionsplease
consider these and make any necessary
changes to your work. This will be formally
submitted Thursday of Week 9. It is very
important that you consider all aspects of
the project before undertaking it and are
certain that you will not go over budget. Be
sure that you set yourself achievable and
realistic goals for your project.

thinking mathematically

Due to the short weeks with Easter weekend, you are required to work
through x6 activities this fortnight. Keep in mind that all Home Learning
is Due a day earlier (before Open Day). This means you have 5 school
nights to work through 6 tasks. I think it would be great practise for you
to aim to achieve x7 or x8 activities in this time, however please note
that you only have to do 6 activities.

PROBLEM SOLVING
Work through the 4 multiplication problem
solving questions on the sheet provided.
Remember to rule up books correctly &
demonstrate all working out neatly
(multiplication & division). Please then provide
your answer in sentence form.
Ask yourself: What does it want me to do?
(Operation), Underline the information etc.
Please mark (as a class) what you get done.

Due next 31/03 Thursday:
