TheprophetisthepointerfingeronthehandofGod.Theypointthedirection
weshouldgobysharingtheheartofGodwiththechurch.Throughtheprophet,
GodguidesandprotectsHischurch.Theyare,alongwiththeApostles,indeeda
partofthechurchsfoundation.

Eph.2:20
20havingbeenbuiltonthefoundationoftheapostlesandprophets,JesusChrist
Himselfbeingthechiefcornerstone,

TheProphetsandApostlesaregiftedtobringrevelationknowledgetothe
church.BythisImean,throughtheprophetsandapostlesGodshinesalighton
thescripturesinawaynotseenbefore.ItwillbeexactlywhatGodwantsthe
churchtounderstandforthepresenthour.

Eph.3:25explains:
2ifindeedyouhaveheardofthedispensationofthegraceofGodwhichwas
giventomeforyou.

brieflywrittenalready,
4bywhich,whenyouread,youmayunderstandmyknowledgeinthemystery

Indeed,throughtheprophetswenotonlyhavespiritual20/20vision,but
physicallyalsobothasindividualsandthebodyofChristwereceivedirectionas
well.

2Chr.20:20isanexampleofhowanOldTestamentKinglookedatthe
prophets.
20SotheyroseearlyinthemorningandwentoutintotheWildernessofTekoa;
andastheywentout,Jehoshaphatstoodandsaid,Hearme,OJudahandyou
inhabitantsofJerusalem:BelieveintheLORDyourGod,andyoushallbe
established;believeHisprophets,andyoushallprosper.

AlessreceivedattributeoftheprophetsisthefactthattheyareusedofGodto
pointoutthesininthechurch,aswellasinthelivesofindividuals!Cracksthat
willeventuallycausethefoundationofaworktocrumbleandsplit,oreven
bringtoahaltacongregationswalkwithGod,areexposedbytheprophets.No
onelikestoberebukedhowever,sooftentheprophetisnotthemostpopular
office.

Amos5:10tellsus:
10Theyhatetheonewhorebukesinthegate,andtheyabhortheonewho
speaksuprightly.

GodconfrontssinthroughHisprophetsaswellasthepowersandprincipalities
causingthesin.Prophets,aswellasApostles,arepowerfulprayerwarriors.

ManytimesprophetsareridiculedandcalledfalseprophetsbecauseGodsways
arenotourways.Thecounseloftheprophetmayseemforeigntohuman
thinking,andeventhedoctrinestheybringforthmaysounddifferentfromwhat

wastaughtandunderstoodbythechurchinthepast.But,theybringfresh
mannatoGodspeoplethroughtherhemawordandtheirdirectionisstraight
fromtheheartofGodfornow.Asalwaystheoldwineskinswillhaveproblems
asthelightofGodexposesanewunderstandingontruthorgivesdirectionsnot
usedbefore.OvertheyearsProphetshavebeenburned,beaten,putinprisonand
runoutoftownbypeoplethatthoughttheydidGodaservicebygettingridof
them.

James5:10says:
10Mybrethren,taketheprophets,whospokeinthenameoftheLord,asan
exampleofsufferingandpatience.

GodtakesadimviewofthosethatcomeagainstHismouthpiece.SeePsalm
115:1415foralookatGodsheartconcerningHisprophets.

14Hepermittednoonetodothemwrong;yes,Herebukedkingsfortheir
sakes,
15Saying,DonottouchMyanointedones,anddoMyprophetsnoharm.

ProphetshavealwayshadadifficultrelationshipwithGodspeople,because
theyspeakwhatGodwantstosaytothem,andnotnecessarilywhattheywant
tohear!Peopleliketohavetheirearstickledandtobetoldtheyarerighton
withGod.Godhowever,throughHisprophets,updatestruthoraddsadeeper
meaningtowhatisknown,eradicatesfalsedoctrine,andcommunicateshowHe
reallyfeelsaboutourwalkandthewalkofthechurch.Peoplehowevertendto
lookatthevessel,ratherthanChristtheprophetwithintheperson,andtherefore
donotgivecredencetowhattheyaresaying.EvenJesushadthisproblemwith
peoplethatknewHimwell.

followedHim.

5NowHecoulddonomightyworkthere,exceptthatHelaidHishandsona
fewsickpeopleandhealedthem.

Fortheprophetsthathavehadthechallengeoftryingtowalkintheircalling
aroundapeoplethatdontwanttogrow,ordontwanttochange,ormaybe
dontevenbelievethatprophetsarefortoday,becomfortedinthefactthatthe
prophetsthatwalkedbeforeyouexperiencedthesamething.HereiswhatGod
toldEzekiel.

Ezek.33:3033
30Asforyou,sonofman,thechildrenofyourpeoplearetalkingaboutyou
besidethewallsandinthedoorsofthehousesandtheyspeaktooneanother,
everyonesayingtohisbrother,Pleasecomeandhearwhatthewordisthat
comesfromtheLORD.
31Sotheycometoyouaspeopledo,theysitbeforeyouasMypeople,and

theyhearyourwords,buttheydonotdothemforwiththeirmouththeyshow
muchlove,buttheirheartspursuetheirowngain.
32Indeedyouaretothemasaverylovelysongofonewhohasapleasant
voiceandcanplaywellonaninstrument;fortheyhearyourwords,butthey
donotdothem.
33Andwhenthiscomestopasssurelyitwillcomethentheywillknow
thataprophethasbeenamongthem.

Ezekielsprophecywasnotonlyforthem,butnowaswell.Godtoldmetoread
thisveryscripturewhenHesentmetotheFirstBaptistChurchofHomosassa
Springs.TheearlychurchthatwastrainedbyJesusandHisdisciples,believed
intheprophetsandactedontheirdirection.

Acts11:2729
27AndinthesedaysprophetscamefromJerusalemtoAntioch.
28Thenoneofthem,namedAgabus,stoodupandshowedbytheSpiritthat
therewasgoingtobeagreatfaminethroughoutalltheworld,whichalso
happenedinthedaysofClaudiusCaesar.
29Thenthedisciples,eachaccordingtohisability,determinedtosendreliefto
thebrethrendwellinginJudea.

THEPROPHETSARENEEDED

Everyonelamentsthatthechurchtodaydoesntwalkaspowerfullyasitshould
fortheseendtimes.Yetthispowerfuloffice,thatiscertainlyanimportantpart
ofthefivefoldministry,isnotgiventheplaceitdeservesinthemajorityofthe
church.Speakingofendtimes,lookwhatGodsaysinAmos3:7.

Amos3:7
7SurelytheLordGODdoesnothing,unlessHerevealsHissecrettoHis
servantstheprophets.

Rev22:6showsthatGodwill
6Thenhesaidtome,Thesewordsarefaithfulandtrue.AndtheLordGodof
theholyprophets

sentHisangeltoshowHisservantsthethingswhichmust
shortlytakeplace.

Yousee,theprophetsstandbetweenthechurchandthesupernaturaltoseewhat
theLordisdoing,orwhatitisHewantsthechurchtodo,soGodspeoplecan
respondappropriately.Wecanbedoinggoodthings,butnotnecessarilythe

rightthings.Manytimesdirectionwillcomethroughpropheticpraiseaswellas
spokenprophecy.Theprophecymaybeforanindividual,thelocalchurch,the
universalchurch,oreventothenations,governments,oreventoHisenemy
Satanandthekingdomofdarkness.Thereisaspecialfireandanointinginthe
praiseoftheprophetsthatisrenewing,refreshingandexhilarating,butatthe
sametimeitcanalsopowerfullypulldownthestrongholdsofthepowersof
darknessandloosetheenemyfromitsattemptstothwartGodsplans.

Icouldsaysomuchmoreabouttheprophetic,butinclosingletmejustsaythat
theprophetsareveryneededintodayschurch.Theare,alongwiththeApostle,
apartoftheumbrellathatcoverstheworkGodisdoingintheseendtimes.
Theywarn,scold,bless,heal,foretell,calltorepentance,subduethroughprayer
andcounselstraightfromtheheartofGod.IsitanywonderthatSatanhas
graspedsuchaholdonGodspeopleandfilteredsomuchfalsedoctrinein
duringthedarkages.Boththeapostolicandpropheticwerelostduringthistime
tothechurch!ThisiswhytheDevilissoangrynowthattheyarebackbigger
thaneverpointingtheirfinger,tearingdownhisstrongholds,settingfreehis
captiveswhilepraisingwithsuchpowerthatattimesitseemsthewhole
supernaturalshakes!
