ABSTRACT
The research area is located in Gagemba, District of Homeyo, Intan Jaya Regency, Province of
Papua. at coordinates between 136 47 0 - 136 49 0 East Longitude and between 3 42 0 - 3
2
43 30 South Latitude, in which it has number of large research area about 3,7 x 2,75 km .
This research is divided into three phases, such as preliminary phase, collecting the field data
phase, and data analyze phase and presenting the data.
The stratigraphy of research area is divided to be four rock units, from the oldest to the
youngest : Darewo Shale Unit (Jurassic-Cretaceous), Waripi Limestone Unit (Early Paleocene),
Intrusive Andesite (Pliocene), and Alluvial Desposits Unit (Recent). The geomorphology of research
area can be divided into two landforms such as : fault line scarp landform and river bodies
landform . The geological structures in this area are Wakabu Left Slip Fault, Gagemba Left Reverse
Slip Fault, Sabu Atas Left Reverse Slip Fault, which they have NW-SE direction, and Hulagupa
Reverse Right Slip Fault, Sabu Bawah Reverse Right Slip Fault, which they have NE-SW direction,
then north-south fault of Gagemba 1 and 2 Normal Slip Fault.
Hydrothermal alteration zones of this area are potassic alteration zone with K-feldsparmagnetitebiotite assemblage, propylitic alteration zone with chlorite-calciteepidote assemblage,
and phyllic alteration zone with quartz-pyrite-sericite. The stages of alteration started from
potassic alteration, propylitic alteration, and then overprinted by phyllic alteration. The geometry
of the alteration zones controlled by fault in this area. The result of Atomic Absorpsion
Spectophotometry analysis has indicated Au-Cu. The hydrothermal deposit system of this research
area is phorphyry Au-Cu.

RARE EARTH ELEMENT (REE) & TRACE ELEMENTS ANALYSIS OF MAGMATIC ORIGIN PROCESS
FROM THE ERTSBERG INTRUSION, PAPUA, INDONESIA
Kuat Yogiristanto & Dwi Menur Mandriati S.
Padjajaran University - Bandung
ABSTRACT
The Ertsberg Intrusion (EI) is located approximately 1.5 km southeast of the Grasberg
super-porphyry Cu-Au deposit (GIC), in the Gunung Bijih (Ertsberg) Mining District, West Papua,
Indonesia. This Ertsberg Mining District in Papua, Indonesia, contains one of the largest Cu-Au
deposits on the planet. Based on Van Nort et al (1991) statements, which conclude the EMD hosts
one of the largest Cu-Au deposits especially porphyry copper deposits that range between 0.8
3% and 0.2 5 g/t. Beside that the ranging of source approximately from 30 to 2500 Mt.
Not only known as the enrichment of Cu & Au, but also God has given another gifts for
Papuas Land such as an abundance of Trace Elements and Rare Earth Elements (REE). Traceelement data are normalized to mid-ocean ridge basalt following the procedure of Pearce (1983),
and REE data are normalized to the Orguiel chondrite following the procedure of Taylor and
McLellan (1985).
Trace-element of Large-ion-lithophile elements in both rock types are enriched
approximately 100 times that of MORB. Both Ta and Nb show slight enrichment based on MORB.
Beside that, the slight enrichment of P and Zr above MORB values can be explained based on
presence of apatite and zircon in the Ertsberg Intrusion igneous suite. High-field-strength elements
Ti, Y, and Yb are depleted with respect to MORB. The depleted Ti could be the result of sphene in

Olapato, Kecamatan Telaga Biru, Kabupaten Gorontalo, Provinsi Gorontalo.
