1. INTRODUCTION
PSC Solar (UK) Xantra Super Efficiency Inverter is an intelligent and combined pure sine wave inverter
and battery rapid charger. It converts DC power (from batteries) to usable form pure sine wave AC power
(for appliances, residences, factories, offices, villages, towns and cities, etc).
PSC Solar (UK) Xantra Super Efficiency Inverter has the highest surge power capability in its class of Inverters.
Charging current is up to 75A.
It also operates at the highest efficiency up to 98% which results in longer running time and extended
battery life compared to other inverters.
Advance, microprocessor controlled circuits run cooler and therefore, are more reliable than
competing units.

2. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND SAFETY TIPS

A. Do not use stabilizers for appliances connected to the inverter point /socket-except the
stabilizer on the inverter
B. Do not reset anything on the inverter or charge controller
C. You should not exceed a 70% Load. You can see your load percentage on the LCD of the inverter
D. All heating element appliances like cooker, Iron, boiling ring, water heater, etc must never
be plugged into sockets powered by Inverter AC output.
E. Use only Energy saving bulbs, to help reduce the load percentage on the inverter.
F. Switch off lights and appliances in your home, when they are not in use.
G. Reduce the use of Air conditioning as this can increase the load percentage of your inverter.
H. You can use your Generator in charging your inverter if the battery bank is low and you have
no access to PHCN light.
I. Turn off your inverter using the change over switch, when leaving your home to help save your
energy for when you are available.
J. Turn back on with your change over switch when you are back at your home.
K. Do not leave your battery or Inverter on the bare floor.
L. Kids must not tamper with either the batteries , inverter or any other device installed by PSC
Industries Limited
M. In case of any challenge with your inverter system, call PSC Industries immediately at 016280208 or email: info@pscsolaruk.com
N. Keep System in a well ventilated area and away from direct heat or combustible materials
O. Do not exceed the rated power for your hybrid inverter or Solar Electricity System , i.e. do not
load more than 2000watts of power for a 2.5KVA Inverter.
P. Incorrect battery polarity will damage inverter and void the warranty
Q. A stabilizer/AVR is strongly recommended to protect the inverter from unstable / erratic
voltages, current and frequencies from AC mains (PHCN) Electricity Supply. Warranty will be
voided if inverter or system is not protected by stabilizer or AVR
R. Do not open the inverter there are no user serviceable parts inside. Warranty will be voided
if inverter is tampered with, opener or serviced by unauthorized persons.
S. SAFETY WARNING:
The inverter AC Electricity output can be lethal. Improper use of this inverter system may result in
property damage, personal injury or even loss of life.

8. PLANNING THE HYBRID INVERTER / SOLAR ELECTRICITY SYSTEMS

Larger Power Inverters require planning before Installation. The user must determine the following:
1. Maximum Inverter Wattage required Electricity Load Analysis
2. Operating (Run) time needed
3. Battery bank capacity in Amp hours
4. Charger requirement to recharge Batteries within a reasonable time.
PSC Solar (UK) Xantra Super Efficiency inverter design has taken a lot of these factors into consideration
with its intelligent design and built in Algorithms.
9. CONFIGURING THE BATTERY BANK
To determine the minimum battery ampere hour rating that you will need to operate appliances from
the inverter, and any DC appliances powered by the battery bank, follow these steps:
a. List the maximum power (wattage) that inverter has to provide
b. Estimate the number of hours each appliance will be in use. For example - a typical home use coffee
maker draws 500watts during brew time of 5 minutes. Typical use of microwave oven is a few
minutes. Some longer operating time appliances are lamps (Energy efficient between 2watts
20watts). Television (about 150 watts), computers (about 100 watts) and refrigerators and freezers.
c. Determine the total watts hours of energy needed. This is done by multiplying the average
power consumption in watts by the number of hours of run time. For example 1500 watts for 10
hours = 15,000 watt/hour.
d. Using our estimate above of 15,000 Watt /hours, we can estimate the battery bank at
200,000 Watts (Always add about 20.30% of total load)
e. To configure the battery bank, individual battery voltage and DC Input voltage of the inverter are
critical factors. For example: if the Inverter is a Xantra 24V / 2.5KVA Inverter, then we configure the
battery bank as follows:
Total Battery Power required
= 20,000 Watts
Individual Battery Voltage
= 12 V
Individual Battery Current
= 200Amps
Total Individual Battery Power
= 12V X 200A
= 2400 Watts
Therefore, Number of Batteries needed = 20000 / 2400 = 8.33 Batteries
In the above case, we could use 8 or 10 units of 12V / 200A Deep Cycle Batteries with each pair of 2
batteries connected in series to yield 24V.
It is of critical importance to use adequate sized cables in connecting the battery bank as well as to the
inverter. This is important to prevent unnecessary overheating and power losses.

10. FUSING REQUIREMENTS

Note: It is important that all inverters has main battery fuse connected to the positive (+)
battery cable as close as possible to the connected battery banks positive terminal.
The fuse amperage rating must be sized to allow simultaneous operation of all the AC appliances
to be powered. i.e for a 8000W inverter, fuse the battery bank at greater than 800A.
11. CONNECTING THE INVERTER
Note: Loose connections will result in a severe voltage drop that can cause damage to the
Conductors and insulation and may cause sparking. Reverse polarity connection will blow the fuses
in the inverter and can cause permanent damage to inverter. Damage caused by reverse polarity
will void warranty.
Procedure:
a. Make sure the cables are the proper gage and have the fuse holders as close to the
battery banks positive (+) terminal
b. Install the fuses in the positive (+) cable
c. Make sure the ON /OFF switch located at the front panel on the inverter is on the OFF
(0) position
d. Locate the ground lug terminal at the rear of the inverter. Connect an insulated 6
gage copper wire to the terminal. The other end of the ground wire is connected to a
proper grounding point. Use the shortest practical length of wire.
In a city, the ground wire can be connected to metal cold water pipe that goes underground.
In villages or remote locations, the ground wire can be connected to an Earth Ground. The
Earth Ground can be an attachment to a six foot long copper clad metal rod driven into the
ground.
In the unlikely event of short circuit, operating the inverter without proper grounding will
cause electric shock. At the factory, the negative DC terminals are also electronically
connected to the ground terminal
e. Locate the cable terminal insulating boots. Slide the boot on the cable before stripping
the insulator and installing the ring connector.
f. Recheck and make sure the DC Cable fuses are installed.
CAUTION
Making an initial connection between the positive cable and the inverters positive terminal
may cause a spark.
This is normal and is a result of capacitors in the inverter starting to charge.
g. Attach the positive cable end to the positive (+) DC Connector of the inverter. Make
sure connection is tight and secure.
h. Slide the connector/ cable boot insulation over the bare terminal.
i. Turn ON (I) the inverter. Make certain that the high temperature or overload LED
indicators are not lit
j. Turn off (o) the inverter.
k. Ensure that all AC outlets are switched off
l. Pull lever on change over switch to the inverter position.
m. Turn on the inverter
n. Turn on AC outlets as required
