Heater Inspection Plan

SUMMARY
1. Briefly describe the extent of this inspection, including areas scaffolded during
this outage.
2. Briefly describe the radiant and convection tubes overall condition.
3. Briefly describe the interior insulated refractory surfaces.
4. Briefly describe the furnace burner and damper condition.
5. Briefly state about the past external inspection and existing external conditions.
6. Briefly state about any repairs, modifications, and/or recommendations.
RADIANT TUBES
1. State the radiant tube design.
2. State the locations where ut thickness readings were taken and give average
thickness measurements.
3. State the OD condition of tube cornering od corrosion, warp age and creep.
4. Take measurements between tubes etc. if sagging or distortion has occurred.
5. State the type and condition of radiant section tube hangers.
6. State the condition and type of radiant tube temperature indicators.
CONVECTION TUBES
1. State the convection section tube design.
2. State the visible areas inspected and where UT thickness readings were taken
and give an average thickness measurement.
3. State the OD condition of tubes concerning fouling, OD corrosion, and tube
distortions.
4. Take measurements between tubes, etc. if distortion has occurred.
5. State the type and condition of convection tube hangers.
6. State the type and condition of convection tube temperature indicators.
REFRACTORY
1. State the type
casing sections.

EXTERNAL CASING (OUTER SHELL) AND STACK
1. Describe the outer external shell casing concerning corrosion and
bulging/distortions.
2. State the condition of the external paint noting any signs of hot spots.
DAMPER AND CONTROLS
1. State the type and condition of damper.
2. State the condition of external cables/controls and state if the damper was
rotated to a open/closed position during this inspection.

STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS
1. State the type of external supports.
2. State the condition of supports concerning external corrosion and fireproofing.
3. State the condition of the grounding system.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Describe in detail any anticipated additional work that will be required
immediately or during the next scheduled outage.
2. Attach the inspection work request form if work is required this outage.
3. Also attach any necessary sketches to describe the details of the work request.
REPAIRS MADE DURING THIS OUTAGE
1. Describe the work that was performed as per the approved inspection work
request.
2. Describe any revamp work that was performed as per the original work scope.
ROUTINE INTERNAL INSPECTION NDE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Obtain UT Thickness reading all u-bends (4 at each as a minimum).
2. Also obtain random UT Thickness readings on straight runs.
3. Hammer test tubes for signs of plugging or coking.
