We would like to inform you about a special offer from Bielefeld University granting
international students on all academic levels the opportunity to participate in a summer
German language course in Bielefeld which takes place August 3-28, 2015.
We offer language courses on all levels of the CEFR. Each course is comprised of 25 lessons
per week.
The special feature of our Bielefeld German summer courses is the focus on scientific and
technical language, whereby general language lessons at the B2/C1 level are combined with
subject-specific language projects in Law, Economics, Mechatronics, regional studies or
writing projects in order to practice typical ways of scientific work in Germany and also
language-specific academic and scientific structures and uses in German. Especially for
students who are interested in the Erasmus program or studying in Germany, this offer is an
ideal opportunity.
The language course will be supplemented by an extensive and varied activity program for the
afternoons and weekends, in which course participants will, for example, discover the city and
the surrounding area of Bielefeld, cook "typical German" dishes or bake traditional cakes,
take long walks in the Teutoburger forest, watch movies at the cinema, or even use the
extensive sports program offered by the university to play football, tennis or badminton. Also
included in the program are day-trips to other cities like Bonn and Mnster.
Participants do not have to worry about accommodation. In addition to the German course and
project work, student dorms or rooms with a host family could be arranged, if required. Only
the arrival and departure must be organized by the students themselves.
The summer German course including the project work and free-time activities costs 590
Euro, students from partner universities pay 50 Euro less. For a fee of 250 Euro and a deposit
of 50 Euro, an accommodation at a student dorm or with a host family will be arranged.
It is possible to apply for a scholarship at the DAAD for this course. Application is usually in
November to attend the summer course in the following year. For more information see:
