The Bob Shaw Classic is an Annual American Football game that is held in memory of
Coach Bob Shaw who died in 2013 of pancreatic cancer. Bob had played and coached
American Football since it began in 1983. The game raises money for the Arthur Rank
Hospice, which looked after Bob and the Pancreatic Cancer Charity. The first classic was
played between Cambridgeshire Cats and Peterborough Saxons, on the day that Coach
Shaw died. The following year, at the wish of the family the Sharks Guest team played
the Cambridgeshire Cats. Last year, the Sharks played again, but the opposing team had
some difficulties as there wasnt a continuity from the previous year. The family, which
runs the committee has decided to put in a plan for the Annual Event, involving two
guest teams, one named after Bobs first team and one named after his last. So the
Bob Shaw Eagles will play the Bob Shaw Sharks.
Coach Smallworth will coach the Bob Shaw Sharks and the committee is looking for a
dedicated and passionate coach that would like to take the role of Head Coach of the Bob
Shaw Eagles. The candidate will have experience as a head coach (level 2 qualification
would be preferable but not essential), of recruiting players and coaches and building a
team of players guesting from a number of clubs, be BAFA registered and will either have
known Bob personally or be passionate about raising funds for cancer. The ideal
candidate will want to be involved going forward to grow this into a successful annual
charity event and any other experience they can bring would be looked on favourably.

If you wish to proceed with your application please note that you will need to
complete a DBS check and provide two references as to your character previous
sports clubs or employers would be ideal however, others that have known you for
at least 2 years would be acceptable.
