Maths
Take Flight numeracy is being delivered in
class groups this term. Grouping within
the classes will vary based on need. It has
an ongoing focus on building number
knowledge and then using this to solve
problems. We aim to provide a range of
practical opportunities for students to
apply their growing maths skills e.g.
cooking, science investigations.
Literacy
Take Flight begins each day with Literacy,
please make sure your children are at
school on time to help them settle quickly
into their learning. Children will work in
their instructional groups daily working on
their personal goals in both reading and
writing. In addition, they will spend time
working in mixed ability groups practising
their growing skill set, developing phonetic
awareness and building oral language.
Children will bring home either an
instructional book or a book of their
choice daily. Please take the time to listen
to them read and to fill in their Read It
book every day. Remember that reading at
home should be enjoyable and a chance to
build confidence and fluency.
Your Day?
Ideas to ask you children at the end of the day:
- If I called your teacher tonight, what would she
tell me about you?
- What do you think you should do/learn more/less
of at school? Why?
- If you got to be the teacher tomorrow, what
would you do?
- How did you help somebody today or how did
somebody help you today?

learning opportunities.
