PROJECT INTRODUCTION
Online Examination System is an online test simulator is to take online examination, test in an
efficient manner and no time wasting for manually checking of the test paper. The main objective
of this web based online examination system is to efficiently evaluate the student thoroughly
through a fully automated system that not only saves lot of time but also gives fast and accurate
results. For students they give papers according to their convenience from any location by using
internet and time and there is no need of using extra thing like paper, pen etc.

Online examination system helps students to offer a quick and easy way to appear for the test. It
also provides the results immediately after the examination with 100% accuracy and security.
Student can enter to perform exam only with their valid username and password. This
examination contains multiple choice questions and appropriate number of options. There are no
limitations on number of options and it can be randomized so same set of question will not
appear to all student so it prevent manipulation.
More than one option can be correct but the user can select only one option. This provides time
limit. The user can see their results after completing the exam. This helps the students to write
the exam from far distance and which can provide security and simplicity and other beneficial
features to the user.

Limitation of Existing system

We have study ABC College and find existing system is manual entry of up keeping of the
details of the student who are registered already. And it is very difficult for each student to come
to the exam center. It is very difficult to the students from far distance to reach the exam center.
This system is required to prepare registration\application form, question paper for the students
and required to print a lot of number manually. To calculate how many students registered, and
verification of details of these students in a month by hand is very difficult. This requires quite a
lot of time and wastage of money as it requires quite lot of manpower to do that. Another factor
that takes into account that is the possibility of errors. The limitation of existing system is that it
is not all personalized. It cannot be used for personal and quick reference. Even the other staff
members can make quick entries if the responsible person is not present.

OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT / PROPOSED SYSTEM

The modern computerized system is developed with the aim to overcome the drawbacks of
existing manual system. We have study manual examination system of ABC College and identify
possible automation. The proposed system has got many advantages. People from different parts
of the world can register very easily. The new system is more personalized. It is maze in such a
manner that all the new users can understand all the options in it very easily. It is made in a quick
and easy referential manner. Access to all important matters are not always locked and can be
opened easily at the time of urgency. The advantages of proposed system are that security is
maintained in the new system. Securities for all important data are maintained confidentially. As
it is easily understandable and user friendly, quick entries can be made in this system.

BENEFITS OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

Performance: During past several decades, there is need for effective and user friendly
online examination site for the ICIT institute that give facility to reduce complexity. So
my web based computerized system is undertaken which is very user friendly and any
user admitted to that institute can access it from ones home.

Efficiency: The basic need of this website is efficiency and simplicity. This website is
efficient so that it can handle different entries according to the users choice and users can
easily view these entries and at the same time he can also request for them.

Control: The complete control of the project is under the hands of authorized person i.e.,
Admin who has the password to access this project and illegal access is not supposed to
deal with. All control is under the administrator and the other members have the rights to
just see the records not to change any transaction or entry.

Security: Security is the main criteria for the purposed system. Since illegal access may
corrupt the database. So security has given in this project.

PROJECT MODULES
The Purpose of this project is to conduct the online examinations for Each and every course
present in the university. This project comprises of three applications:

Question Bank maintenance Module

Exam processing Module

Report Generation Module

Brief introduction of all project modules:

Question Bank maintenance Module
This application deals with question bank maintenance. This application is supposed to contain
the following modules.

Entry Check: Enables the user to make subject selection and Checks the entry of faculty
by using a login form before Entering/Updating questions.

Question Entry: Enables the authorized faculty to enter new questions in Text/Image
format into the database.

Question Editor: This module deals with modifying existing questions and deleting the
questions from the database by the authorized faculty.

Maintaining the student Details and Course details in the database.

Creating the tables necessary for Exam conducting application.

Exam processing Module

The main purpose of this application is to conduct the exam and to store the results of each and
every candidate in a subject wise order. Also the application stores the questions and specified
answers of each question for each student in the proof table for future verification. This
application is supposed to contain the following Modules.

Connecting to Database: In this Module, the application connects to the database with the
help of user credentials such as Server Name, User id and password. After successful
connection to the database it will display the student login form.

Student identification: in this step the candidate will enter his own credentials given by
the authority which include roll number, user id and password. After successful login, the
candidate will be displayed his question form. With all the required options.

Submission of results: After answering all the questions, the candidate needs to click on
"Submit" button available at the bottom of the question form. This will store the details of
questions and answers of each candidate and compares with correct answers and soon it
will display the marks report to the candidate.

Report Generation Module

This application serves the authority to make a report of the examination results course wise (or)
Semester wise (or) Roll number wise. The facility for the authority to store the results in an excel
file is also included in the application. This application comprises of the following Modules.

Entry Screen: This module will display all the subject codes of each and every
semester/Course, for which the examination is conducted.

Marks Report for Each Course: This module will generate the marks reports Subject wise
/ Semester wise/Course wise.

Transferring report to excel file: This enables the authority to take an excel copy of the

reports that are generated.

HARDWARE/SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT
Hardware Requirement:
a. Server Side:

Processor - Dual processors that are each 3 GHz or faster

RAM - 4 GB

Hard Disk - NTFS file systemformatted partition with 3 GB of free space plus adequate free
space for Web sites

Network - 56 Kbps or faster connection between client computers and server

b. Client Side:

Processor - intel pentium 3 1.6 GHz or faster

RAM - 256 MB

Hard Disk - 20 GB

Software Requirement:

Project Type - Web based Application.

Technology Used - Micro-Soft .NET Framework 4.0.

Front end - ASP.NET with C#.

Back end - SQL server 2008.

Proposed project scope and Limitation

1. On-line Exam system is designed for Educational Institutes (like schools, universities,
training centers).
2. The system handles all the operations, and generates reports as soon as the test is finish,
that includes name, mark, time spent to solve the exam.
3. Allow students to see or display his answers after the exam is finish.
4. The type of questions is only multiple choice or true and false.

We have prepare new system after identify issue in existing manual examination system. Scope
of this online examination system is very broad in terms of other manually taking exams.
However we can improve our system in next version like.
