1. Pick one of the activities that we have done:

a.
b.
c.
d.

Privilege
Glass ceiling
Lady Tilde
Panty Bliss

2. Pick one of the responses from that activity.

a. Racial would be the worst form to be discriminated against in my opinion
because it has been around for the longest. Yes, sexual orientation, religion,
etc. are also relevant; however, it has not been relevant as long as racial
discrimination has bee. Racial discrimination should not even be a thing along
with the other forms of discrimination.

3. Turn the short response into a paragraph.

a. The worst form to be discriminated against would have to be racial. With racial
discrimination being predominantly the most relevant form of discrimination
for the longest period of time, it should have resolved by now. Of course there
are various forms of discrimination as well, such as: sexual orientation,
religion, etc. The other forms of discrimination are prevalent in todays society
more than before due to more people being accepting and public with their
lives. The currently arising forms of discrimination seem to not be as bad as
racial, due to the fact that they are now the most televised. For one to have to
experience racial discrimination would be astounding because one would think
that after centuries, it would have vanished by now.

4. Create a word cloud with the revised response.

Surface Questions:
1. What are some of the similarities between the original paragraph style writing
and the word cloud?
They both use the same key words that I was utilizing to get my point
across. Also, they both answered the original question.
2. What are some of the differences?

The original response was in a traditional writing style, whereas the

word cloud is scrambled. The word cloud has different font sizes. The
bigger the font, the more the word was used in the original response.
3. What words are larger and more emphasized?
The words that are larger are: discrimination and racial.
4. Are these words that are important to the original message/intent? How so?
Yes, because the original message focused on various forms of
discrimination. I stated that the worst form of discrimination would be
racial. So these two words are the most essential in getting the point
across.
5. What shape did the word cloud take, if any? What does it imply or lead to you
to think about, if anything?
The word cloud did not really make a distinctive shape. I have no idea
what it may be.
6. What colors did you end up with? How do these colors set tone or intent for
your word cloud?
I ended up with: orange, red, light maroon and lime green. The color
scheme gives a positive tone for the intent. As if the the message is
intended to be a positive thing.
Context Questions:
7. How does moving from composing/paragraph style, to the word cloud style,
change the message of your statement? How so?
In the word cloud style, the message appeared to make the message
come across in a more positive way. The word cloud does not change
the intent in my opinion.
8. What is the use of moving from a paragraph structure to a cloud (or other)
structure in writing? How so?
In my opinion, the use would be to show the importance of each word.

By showing the importance, it could make the point even more clear.
9. How could you apply this to your personal writing processes during drafting or
composing, even revising?
During my personal writing, I could emphasize the words that I would
like to focus on. By doing this I can stay on task with my subject.
10. So, overall, what did you think? Interesting experiment or total waste of time?
Somewhere in-between? Please elaborate why so.
I believe that this experiment was unique. I have never done
something like this before, especially in regards to writing. Doing this
activity helped me to see that a point can be made in any form of
visual.
