There are more than 250 different
scholarship opportunities available
for our graduate students; two of
which are the Dr. William S. Lewis
Doctoral Fellowship, valued at
$25,000/year for up to 4 years, and
the David M. Armstrong Doctoral
Fellowship, open to an incoming
PhD student in Chemistry or
Physics valued at $25,000/year for
up to 4 years. UNB facilitates a
wide variety of scholarship
opportunities in all disciplines.
Teaching and research
opportunities are available to help
qualified graduate students meet
the cost of their studies; by gaining
valuable work experience as a
Graduate Research Assistant,
Graduate Teaching Assistant,
Research Academic Assistant, or
Research Assistant.
UNB offers support for students
applying for federally-funded
scholarships through NSERC,
SSHRC, or the CIHR. These three
councils (the tri-council) provide
scholarship opportunities for
Masters and PhD students who are
Canadian citizens or Permanent
Residents. UNB also provides
application support for Doctoral
candidates of any citizenship who
apply to the federally-funded Vanier
Canada Graduate Scholarship
Program.
Within the provincial government,
the New Brunswick Innovation
Foundation (NBIF) provides UNB
with over $850,000 of scholarship
funding annually to award to our
graduate students. NBIF provides a
variety of scholarships which are
administered through UNB,
including funding for successful and
unsuccessful tri-council applicants
through their NBIF Graduate
Scholarship program, and
opportunities for incoming
graduate students regardless of
citizenship through their NBIF
Science, Technology, Engineering
and Mathematics (STEM) and
NBIF Social Innovation programs.
