This system program updates your RD-300NX to the latest version 2.04.

How to know the version

Before you start, check the system program version of your RD-300NX.
1. Hold down [ REVERB ] and switch on the power.
If this shows the latest version (version 2.04 or later), theres no need to update
your RD-300NX.
2. After verifying the displayed version, switch off the power.

Bug Fix

The "System V-Link" and the "System Switch Assign" of System Exclusive
message had been misaddressed.
The faults were in both RD-300NX itself and the MIDI implementation.

Functionality Improved

Added the parameter "Clock Out" in "System Settings."

This parameter can control ON/OFF setting for transmitting the F8(Timing
Clock) message. RD-300NX had transmitted it at any time.

Alleviated the feelings of the tone interruption when performing with layered
tones using combinations of Piano and Strings.

What you will need to update your RD-300NX

RD-300NX
USB Memory ( Roland's M-UF2G is recommended )
* The USB Memory needs to be formatted on a RD-300NX.

Cautions with the update

When you perform this update, it will initialize your Live Set that was saved in
the User bank.
You should save the Live Set on a USB memory before you perform the
update.
Refer to the following section from the Owner's Manual for the detailed
procedure.
o Saving a Live Set File ( LIVE SET Save )
Call up the Live Set from the USB memory after the update completes.

We recommend that you back up your Live Set files and Songs stored in the
internal memory to a USB memory before you perform the update although
RD-300NX keeps the data with normal updating.
Refer to the following section from the Owner's Manual for the detailed
procedure.
o Copying a Live Set File ( LIVE SET Copy )
o Copying a Song (SONG Copy)
Never apply this update data to any product other than the RD-300NX. This
update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
Never power-off your RD-300NX while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the RD300NX wont be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require
servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this
occurs.
We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update
procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly,
following the directions given in this document.

Getting the update file

Please open/extract the downloaded rd300nx_sys_v204.zip file on your computer to
get the update files in the R029_RD300NX folder.

Procedure for the update

1. Copy the entire folder containing the RD-300NX update data
(R029_RD300NX) to the root directory of the formatted USB Memory, and
then detach the device from the computer.
2. Leaving the power to the RD-300NX switched off; connect the USB Memory
to the USB MEMORY port.
3. Hold down [WRITE] and switch on the power to the unit.
Please wait for about ten seconds until displaying Loading.
4. The update starts. Wait several minutes. When Completed. is displayed, the
operation is finished. * Never switch off the power or detach the USB Memory
before Completed. Is displayed. Doing so may damage the USB Memory and
make it unusable.
5. Detach the USB Memory and switch off the power to the unit.
