Donald Trump- somewhere between entertainment and politics

It should come as no surprise to us that during campaigns for public offices

politicians often make controversial statements in order to attract the voters and
the medias attention, to steal the spotlight from the other candidates. When Donald
Trump, an already controversial American billionaire, announced in June 2015 that
he will be joining the Republican Presidential race, many took it as a joke, as
another of his attempts to make everything about The Donald . But, as the time
went by, his statements became more and more controversial and worrying. When
he called for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United
States , The Huffington Post, which until then covered anything related to the
businessman in the Entertainment section, decided that they, along with millions of
Americans, were no longer amused by his lack of diplomacy and his frankness.
Trump, born in 1946, has always been in the publics attention, whether
because of his role as the host of the reality show The Apprentice (which judges
the business skills of a group of contestants), the his feud with Barack Obama
regarding his birth certificate of his or because of his sexist and misogynistic
comments throughout the years( Its certainly not groundbreaking news that the
early victories by the women on The Apprentice were, to a very large extent,
dependent on their sex appeal or what Trump once said to a female reporter I
mean, we could say politically correct that look doesnt matter, but the look
obviously matters()Like you wouldnt have your job if you werent beautiful.).
As of his family values, in a 2006 interview he said, regarding Ivanka, his eldest
daughter with his first wife( he divorces twice and is now married for the third
time), that ()she does have a very nice figure. Ive said if Ivanka werent my
daughter, perhaps Id be dating her.
Moreover, in a Rolling Stone article about him, the author describes a scene
that, in my opinion, should not surprise anybody: when a picture of a female
Republican president candidate is shown on the news, Trumps first reaction is
Look at that face(!...)Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face
of our next president?!() I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not supposed to say

bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?". These words speak for
themselves.
But his derogatory comments about women do not stop here. He has
recently stated that women who have abortions should face "some form of
punishment". He declined to say what the punishment should be, dodging a
question about whether it should be 10 years in prison or something milder. This
is, in my opinion, a man who genuinely does not care about the health and safety
of women but only about his political ambitions. This issue is a very disputable one
in the US, but even some Republicans find Trumps idea too extreme and
inappropriate.
What is more, his plan to Make America great again is based on
constructing a wall at the border with Mexico, and making the other country pay
for it. At the same time, in his speech when he announced his candidacy for
president, he began by comparing Mexican and Latin American immigrants to
rapists and killers- "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best.
They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have
lots of problems and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing
drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists, and some, I assume, are good
people". This explains why so many people might regard his as being racist and
xenophobic.
In conclusion, are there any chances of this narcissistic billionaire(I am a
really smart guy, Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest
and you all know it!) to actually becoming the most powerful man in the world? It
seems there are. He is currently the front runner in the Republican race for
presidency but his numbers appear to be lowering. Only time will tell what is next
for The Donald.
