The testing area is intended for effective and safe
routine testing of high-voltage capacitors. When designing the testing area, special attention was paid to ensuring occupational safety for the duration of the test. The testing procedure is PC-controlled by means of a monitoring programme (InTouch HMI Software) and programmable logic (PLC). The testing programme controls the execution of the testing procedure and the locking of all doors for the duration of the test. The testing process cannot be started until all doors leading to the high-voltage facility have been properly locked and the locking has been acknowledged. The data concerning the capacitor to be tested are automatically read from the Lean Manufacturing System database on the basis of the capacitors serial number. Complete testing results are saved in the database from where they are read, using a separate test report programme and the final test report is run. The databased testing results are also used to draw up quality control statistics.
Routine testing includes
the following tests: 1. Capacitance measurement 2. Measurement of the tanget of the loss angle of the capacitor 3. Voltage test between terminals, AC test, DC test 4. AC voltage test between terminals and container 5. Test of internal discharge device 6. Sealing test
It is possible to carry out routine tests for both shunt
and series capacitors, so long time tests comply with international standards.
A series resonance circuit is used in the testing
circuit during the tests and when measuring alternating voltage. In the circuit, high voltage is increased through the series resonance from the supply transformer (value 100-1000 V) to the required testing voltage (value UMAX 30 kV). The high capacitive power (max 4000 kvar) required by the capacitor in the series resonance circuit is compensated by means of a compensation reactor so the final need for power from the network is less than 250 kVA. The testing process is automated so the tester can simultaneously finish the capacitors or carry out other end-phase duties. In line with our policy of ongoing product development we reserve the right to alter specifications.
During routine testing of high-voltage capacitors,
and especially in the AC voltage test (QMAX = 4000 kvar), special requirements are placed on the testing equipment. The special requirements are calculated by the high power needs and the measurement of capacitor dissipation angle, which places stringent requirements on the measuring device, due to the very small dissipation angle value.
