Opening skins
To open a skin, right-click on any open skin or on the Rainmeter tray icon and then select Configs >
Gnometer :

Alternatively you can open RainBrowser to manage your skins through Configs > Manage Skins..

To close a Gnometer skin, you can either middle-click on the skin or right-click and select to Skin Menu >
Close Skin .

Configuration tool
The configuration tool makes it easy to configure the essential parts of Gnometer (colors, style, weather
settings, feed locations, etc.). To open the configuration tool, right-click on any open skin or on the
Rainmeter tray icon and select Configs > Gnometer > Settings.ini

Colors
The color page of the configuration tool can be used to set the colors used in all Gnometer skins. The values
are used for different purposes depending on the selected style. For more color codes, visit colorpicker.com

Styles
Gnometer is pre-packaged with three different styles: Horizontal, Panel, and Vertical. To change the styles,
go to the styles page of the configuration tool and select the stylesheet of your choice.

If you plan on using the Bar skin, use Vertical.ini with vertical stylesheet and Horizontal.ini with horizontal
stylesheet.

Skin information
Battery: Click on the icon to open the Power Options control panel applet.

Clock: Click on the icon to open the Time and Date control panel applet.

Disk: Click on the icon to open the C: drive.

Feeds: Use the configuration tool to change the URL of feeds. RSS, Atom, FeedBurner, and Twitter feeds
have been tested to work. Click on the icon to open the URL of active feed.

Gcal: Set your Gcal URL with the configuration tool. Howto: Gcal URL

Gmail: Set your username and password with the configuration tool. Click on the icon to open your Gmail
inbox.

Media Player: Click on the icon to open selected media player. If you use foobar2000, you need to follow
the instructions here to get the foobar2000 or VLC skin working: Howto: foobar2000 or Howto: VLC

Network: Left-click on icon to open the Network Connections control panel applet. Right-click on icon to
reset total download/upload (only for Total.ini variant).

If you plan on using the Network skin, you should set your maximum download and upload speeds through
the configuration tool. Note that the speeds should be entered in megabits (Mb/s), not megabytes (MB/s).

To test your speed, visit http://speedtest.net/

Notes: Click on the icon to edit notes.

Recycle Bin: Use configuration tool to select which drives are watched for trash. Click on the icon to open
the recycle bin.

System: Click on the icon to open Task Manager.

Uptime: Click on the icon to open the Power Options control panel applet. Click on the smaller icons to
shutdown, restart, or logoff.

uTorrent: To get the uTorrent skin working, follow these instructions: Howto: µTorrent

Weather: Click on the icon for more detailed weather info. Use config tool to set location code: Howto:

Wireless: Click on the icon to open the Wireless Networks control panel applet.

Howto: Weather Location Code
To get your weather location code, head over to http://weather.msn.com. Once there, search for your city
(e.g. Paris) and select the appropriate city from the list. The address should look something like:
http://weather.msn.com/local.aspx?wealocations=wc:FRXX0076&q=Paris%2c+FRA

FRXX0076 is the location code you should enter in the configuration tool.

Howto: µTorrent
1) Open uTorrent and select Options -> Preferences -> WebUI
2) Make sure that “Enable WebUI” is checked. Make sure the listening port is set to 8080. Set the
username and password.

3) If you’re running uTorrent 2.0, then select Advanced, then scroll down and make sure
webui.token_auth is set to false.

4) When you’re done, press OK.


5) Now open the Gnometer Configuration Tool and select the uTorrent page. Enter the username and
password you set in uTorrent. Save the settings.
6) The uTorrent skin should work now.

Howto: Gcal URL

1) Go to http://www.google.com/calendar/render and click on Settings -> Calendar Settings
2) Click on the Calendars tab:

3) Then, click on the calendar of your choice (usually username@gmail.com)


4) Now click on the XML icon next to “Private Address”:

5) You will see a URL:

6) The part in red is the URL you should enter into the Gnometer config tool.

To get the foobar skin working, please download http://poiru.dy.fi/gnometer/foobar_howto.zip

It will contain further instructions.

Howto: VLC
1. Open VLC and select Tools > Preferences
2. Make sure All is selected under Show settings. Then click on Interface > Main interfaces and check
“HTTP remote control interface”.

3. Then click on Main interfaces > HTTP and enter 127.0.0.1:8008 as the value for “Host address”

4. Now click on Save and restart VLC and Gnometer skin should work.
