Assessment details for ALL students
Assessment item 2 — Online Tests
Type: Online Tests ASSESSMENT

Weighting: 15%

Mode: Individual Assignment

Due Date: Online tests opens [Midday] on 27 March and
closes [Midday] on 16 April (Week 6)
2
Objectives
This assessment item relates to the course learning outcomes numbers list 1 – 8 as stated on page 1.

Assessment Requirements
All students complete this piece of assessment by doing three online tests [Parts A, B and C] during
the period of 27 March [Midday] to 16 April [Midday] - Week 6. The three parts are being used to
minimise the technical problems that sometimes occur with lengthy online tests.
Please note the following which will apply to your online test:
 Before you commence your tests you are strongly advised to ensure you are adequately
prepared. For instance, have you reviewed the lecture material for weeks one to four; have you
practised the multiple choice questions in the workbook. (The answers are also provided in the
workbook).
 This assessment consists of three online tests, Tests A, B and C. Each test consists of ten (10)
multiple choice questions [thirty (30) multiple-choice questions in total] covering work from
Weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4.
 Thirty (30) minutes has been allowed for each test. However, you should complete each test in
less than twenty minutes. Accordingly, if you fail to complete the test in thirty minutes, no
marks will be awarded, unless it can be shown that the failure to complete was caused by a
technical problem. Any technical problem must be reported to acct11059-admin@cqu.edu.au
by noon [midday] on 16 April.
 Each test can be done at a different time. When taking the test be aware of the time. As
explained above, please pay particular attention to the time for each test.
 Once the time-period for the test is finished, the test cannot be re-opened or attempted.
 The tests do not all have to be done together. You can do Test A on one day and Test B three
days later. As long as all three tests are completed before the due date.
 You can only attempt each online test once. If you leave the test and come back to it later,
your time may have lapsed.
 You cannot print out the test prior to completing it.
 Questions will come up one at a time, however providing time permits; you may go back and
review your answers.
 Misreading of the test availability time period will not be grounds for any deferred tests or
the changing of assessment options.
 Deferred online assessment tests will only be available under extenuating circumstances. As
the tests are open for seven days unless you have supporting documentation to cover the 7
Course Profile for: ACCT11059, 2010 Term One - Page 12
days in total it may not be acceptable for you to leave the tests go until the last day and then
claim to be too ill to do it. For a deferred test, students must apply to the course coordinator
and be granted permission before undertaking the deferred assessment. This will require
supporting documentation, i.e. medical certificate, or other appropriate documentation.

Other Points to Note:

 The tests are worth fifteen (15) percent of the total grade for the course. Five (5) percent for each
test.
 The tests cover work from Weeks One (1) to Four (4).
 The tests are open-book.
 If you do not complete these tests, it will be deemed that you received zero for the tests and you
will be able to receive no more that 85% for this course overall. You can still do the final exam
even if you have not sat the mid-term tests as this course treats the mid-term and the final exam as
a single exam component of assessment.
 Students who do not sit these tests can still pass the course if they successfully complete
assessment item one and the end of term exam and receive a mark of 50% or more for the overall
course.
