PERFORMANCE
4.1

Pump
4.1.1

Pumps shall be rated at actual (or predicted) driven speed for the data sheet load
conditions.

4.1.2

In general, all pumps shall have the characteristics of decreasing head with increasing
capacity from shutoff to maximum capacity. However, for pumps which have been
specified on the data sheet for parallel operation, this is mandatory requirement.

4.1.3

The slope of the pump curve is preferred to be at least 10 percent in the differential
pressure rise from rated point to minimum flow for the specified operating conditions.
Any drooping characteristics in the curve between these points shall be specifically
stated in the quotation by Vendor.

4.1.4

Impellers with pulsating or surging characteristics are not acceptable.

4.1.5

Pumps shall be selected so that maximum efficiency will be obtained as near as

possible to the design flow conditions. Pumps that operate at more than 20 percentage
points off of the maximum efficiency point are not acceptable.

4.1.6

Changes in head capacity, at the rated flow, of plus or minus five percent (" 5%), shall
be possible by installing a new impeller for the increase, and by modifying the existing
impeller for the decrease. Maximum diameter impellers for rated flow conditions are not
acceptable.

4.1.7

The pump shall be capable of operating at 125% of rated flow without the required
NPSH exceeding the available NPSH.
