1. Michael, Gray. Why Not Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol?

Common Sense of Drug Policy. C.S.D.P.
2.N/A, 2016
3.Secondary source, Gray Michael
4. Is marijuana safer than alcohol?
5. Regulate marijuana, alcohol, common sense, drug policy.
6. Michael shows eleven facts of why marijuana should be
regulated with alcohol. He talks about the reduction of violence
and general safeguard law enforcements, the removal of major
barriers to research for medical use, and to produce $6.2 billion in
tax revenue (which could be used to pay for education, treatment
and prevention for all drugs.) I also think this so called drug
marijuana drug can actually help educate kids about real drugs like
cocaine, crack, and ecstasy.
7. what other positive effects is marijuana providing?

1. Ferro, Shaunacy. "It's Incredibly Difficult to Study Medical

Marijuana." Business Insider. Business Insider, Inc., Web. 25 July 2016
2. 12 Aug. 2013
3.secondary source, Shaunacy, Ferro
4. Why is it incredibly difficult to study medical marijuana?
5. medical, Marijuana, business insider, popular science
6. Shaunacy talks about how marijuana is classified as a schedule
one substance by federal government, meaning according to the
government, it has no medical value. Which makes it quite difficult
for scientist to study any some medical use, since human medical
trials require permission from federals like department of health
and human services, the FDA, and when it comes to illegal
substances the DEA. I also think that legalizing weed can help us

study more maybe theres something that we can learn like; healing
sickness or diseases.
7.What makes marijuana so important to study?

1. "Marijuana Is Drug Most Often Linked to Crime, Study

Finds." Mcclatchydc. N.p., n.d. Web. 25 July 2016
2. Web. 25 July 2016
3.Secondary source, Mcclatchydc
4. Why is marijuana often linked to crime?
5. Crime, drug, marijuana, politics, government.
6. Mcclatchydc talks about how marijuana is a drug most often
linked to crime in the united states. Researchers found that marijuana was
the most popular used by men whod been arrested in all cities. It was
actually most commonly detected drug, found in 54 percent of those
arrested. Studys found similar results in four other cities. I think if
marijuana was legal police officer wouldnt have to worry about hose
crime rates going up and lees males would have been arrested.
7.Would crime rates go down if marijuana was legal?

1. "Executive Summary." Costs of Marijuana Prohibition:

Economic Analysis. N.p., n.d Web. 25 July 2016.
2. Web. 25 July 2016.
3.Secondary source, Economic analysis
4. Would legalizing marijuana save money?
5.Marijuan, prohibition, cost, executive summary, economic
analysis.
6. Economic analysis talks about the report estimates that
legalizing marijuana would save $7.7 billion per year in
government expenditure on enforcement of prohibition. $5.3
billion of this savings would accrue local governments, while $2.4
billion would accrue to the federal government. It also talks about
how reports also estimates that weed legalization would yield tax
revenue of $2.4 billion annually if marijuana were taxed like all
other goods and $6.2 billion annually if marijuana were taxed at
rates comparable to those on alcohol and tobacco. I think they
should legalize weed and would have this problem with money.
7.Is marijuana being illegal worth it?

(5)

1. "The War on Marijuana in Black and White." American Civil

Liberties Union. N.p., n.d. Web. 25 July 2016.
2. Web. 25 July 2016.
3.Secondary source, liberties union
4. Why are more blacks likely to get arrested with marijuana
possession then whites?
5.Marijuana, American civil, liberties union, war on marijuana,
black and white.
6.This article talks about Marijuana use is roughly equal among
Blacks and whites, yet Blacks are 3.73 times as likely to be
arrested for marijuana possession. Racial disparities in marijuana
possession arrests have increased in 38 of
the 50 states and in the District of Columbia over the past decade.
Some states where the disparities have increased the most since
2001. I think legalizing weed can stop more racial problems. The
world is getting crazy each in everyday from the shooting black
lives matter. So legalizing weed is just one thing less to worry
about.
7.Is weed not being legal stirring up more racial problems?

Reflection; I think (2) (3) (5) are the strongest resources for me. I could not really find the major
reason why marijuana should be legal like alcohol but I did get key reasons like racial war
because of marijuana being illegal, the cost of marijuana not being legal, and the crime rates of
marijuana not being legal. My source (2) is helpful for me because it gives me stand point of
why marijuana should be legalize with alcohol, marijuana is considered a drug and cannot be a
medical trial, making it difficult for them to study for medical reasons. My source (3) is helpful
for me because marijuana being illegal more crime rates is going up if it was legal crime rates
would tremendously go down. My source (5) is helpful because marijuana being illegal more
black men are being target for marijuana then white starting racial problem and protesting. One
method I think was most successful to me in this research process was using our uncc library
web page to look up articles, books to get a more variety of research for my topic. The process of
my research topic was quite difficult I tired interviewing and doing a survey but didnt have
much time so I had to take another step and just look up articles. I mentioned earlier that I used
uncc library website to help me look up what I need for my article which made a tremendous
affect I found quite a few resources to help me out. One thing I would change is managing my
time so I could have done my surveys and interviews to help bring out my topic more.
