2.2 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to
demonstrate understanding of a variety of linear and non-linear texts in the
form of print and non-print materials using a range of strategies to construct
meaning.
2.2.3 Able to read and understand simple sentences in linear and non-linear
texts with guidance.
2.2.4 Able to read and understand a paragraph of simple sentences with
guidance.
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to,
1. Fill in the blanks by referring to their textbook and get at least 4 out
of 5 correctly.
2. Talk about the stories by stating the characters, place, and moral
values with guidance from teacher.
1. Teacher instructs pupils to read the story The Ant and The Grasshopper
individually.
2. Next, teacher chooses some pairs to read the story.
3. Teacher asks WH-questions and gives reward to those who could
answer it.
4. Teacher asks pupils to state the characters, place and moral values to
strengthen their understanding.
5. Pupils complete the task sheet on their activity book.

knowledge of sounds of letters to recognise words in linear and non-linear
texts.
2.1.1 Able to identify and distinguish the shapes of the letters in the alphabet.
2.1.2 Able to recognise and articulate initial, medial and the final sounds in
single syllable words within given context.

1. Name the words that start with sound (u) and (r) at least 4 out of 8 words
correctly.
1. Teacher let pupils watch a video regarding the sound of letters (u) and (r).
2. Pupils recall the words by filling in the blanks on the board.
3. Teacher guide and correct pupils.
4. Teacher demonstrate the sound (flash cards) and let pupils recognise the
position of their tongue when sounding letters.
5. Pupils complete exercises related to the sounds of (u) and (r).
